Chapter 450: 0450 Holding Hands_1
The aquarium was as Ruffy had predicted, not very crowded today.
But not exactly empty either.
After all, it still counts as one of East City’s most popular amusement parks.
The venue inside was expansive, and there were relatively few people, mostly parents with their children coming to visit.
When Ellen and Ruffy showed up, they stood out the most in the crowd.
Thankfully, the majority were ordinary people. Some recognized Ellen, but no one approached to disturb them.
Mostly children, people were mostly just surprised by Ruffy’s appearance, without any excessive reactions.
So the visit to the aquarium was rather peaceful.
Having been here before, Ellen remembered every place vividly. Although Ruffy said he was looking for a place to ask Ellen out, his real intention was not the visit itself; he spent the time talking to Ellen in a low voice as they strolled along.
They discussed her past.
Ellen wasn’t impatient. She answered whatever Ruffy asked. When they passed by a resting corner in the park, there was a stall selling candy kabobs.
This type of candy kabob is a local craft of East City, not found in other cities’ parks.
Ellen had eaten them as a child.
Seeing the candy kabobs, she could almost think back to her grandfather.
As a child, every time her grandfather came back from the market, he would bring her a candy kabob.
The sweet taste from her memories was unforgettable, even now.
But it’s an old tradition, and now it’s rare to see candy kabobs sold; she glanced over several times, and Ruffy noticed, curling his lips slightly, "Want to eat?"
Ellen nodded, "I haven’t eaten one in a long time, I haven’t seen them sold anywhere else."
"I’ll buy it."
She and Ruffy walked over. These candy kabobs were somewhat similar to candied haws, but not quite the same. The candy pieces had a liquid center, and in the cold winter, they still felt warm, not making one feel chilly.
The flavors were all fruity, numerous and quite expensive.
Ten yuan a stick.
But for them, it was just an inconsequential price; Ruffy bought one, although he did not like these kinds of things.
He handed it to Ellen, who took a bite and slightly furrowed her brows.
Perhaps it was because modern techniques are all machine-made, mass-produced goods, and since this was inside the aquarium and essentially fast food, the taste really wasn’t that good; the candy was sickly sweet and even a bit bitter.
Maybe children would still like it, but compared to the taste in her memory, it was far from the same.
After one bite, she didn’t like it and suggested, "When I go home tonight, I could ask how to make candy kabobs and try making them myself."
"Not tasty?"
Ruffy laughed, taking the remaining candy kabob, "Still, we shouldn’t waste it."
Waste was secondary; it was more about the fact that Ellen had tasted it.
He nonchalantly ate the piece Ellen had bitten into.
Biting into it, the taste was indeed too mundane; he frowned and chewed the piece before swallowing, "It really isn’t good."
Then he added, "Considering it’s an aquarium opened by Clinton White, which is listed under your name, if the products are poor and it affects your reputation, I suggest you mention it to Clinton."
Ellen chuckled softly, "The aquarium is his responsibility, but I can indeed suggest that to him when I go back."
Ruffy threw the rest of the candy kabob into a trash can, and as they left, he naturally took Ellen’s hand and moved away.
Ellen paused for a moment, looking down at her hand in his, but said nothing.
The feeling was a bit strange, yet somehow, it didn’t make her uncomfortable.
