Chapter 405: 0405 Exhausted to death_1
The time that followed was very different from what Clyde Wilson had imagined.
Although they were just staying at Ellen Young’s house, Ellen was busy with her things, and since it was Lucy Wood’s home turf, even if she stayed in the bedroom and often didn’t come out, the program team didn’t dare to interfere.
So, the live broadcast turned into Lucy Wood and Clyde Wilson’s show.
Despite not taking kindly to her, Lucy didn’t show any abnormalities, but through her actions, Clyde knew that Lucy was deliberately making things difficult for him.
For instance, in the previous few episodes, Lucy clearly had little interest in farm activities, occasionally helping Ellen with them. However, during this episode, she displayed great interest in farm work, claiming she was planning to take on a script related to it and wanted to learn ahead of time.
Not daring to tamper with Ellen’s few acres of farmland, she started with other things, and that very afternoon, she took Clyde to the pond to catch fish by hand.
To tell the truth, neither of them knew how, which made for great program material but exhausted and infuriated Clyde to no end.
Lucy seemed to do nothing, just idly cheering from the side of the pond. To maintain his image, Clyde had to put up with it and force a smile as Lucy insisted on having him catch fish.
They were still using the traditional and ancient method. Although they could fish with rods, the pond had plenty of fish, allowing for direct catching with a net.
Even so, it was a significant challenge for them, especially for Clyde, who kept swinging the net without catching a single fish. Finally, as if heaven couldn’t stand by any longer, it allowed him to net a small fish and one weighing about two pounds.
Ellen’s courtyard even had a pond!
Yet she insisted on using the big pond outside.
Clyde’s back was damn near broken by the afternoon’s efforts, and as Lucy whined about being close to death from exhaustion, Clyde had to offer her comfort with stiff cheeks, laughing and reassuring her. To save her from hardship, he had no choice but to do more work himself.
It wasn’t until dinner time that Clyde was finally liberated.
Perhaps the only consolation was being able to eat the meal prepared by Ellen.
But because he was so tired from the afternoon, Clyde really didn’t have the energy to fuss over anything else. He just barely managed a smile before ending the broadcast for the day, appreciating that Ellen’s cooking was indeed delicious. Beyond that, there was nothing more.
Ellen wasn’t one for talking; she had always been like that. It was clear that she had even less to say to Clyde.
Clyde couldn’t possibly shamelessly force her to respond, and by eight o’clock at night, he had finally been freed from his broadcasting duties for the day.
The critical issue was that many viewers that afternoon thought the broadcast was great and much more lively than the usual dull life, only a few of Clyde’s fans noticed something off with him yet didn’t dare speak up due to public opinion, after all, Lucy and Ellen’s fans weren’t ones they could afford to provoke.
Especially since many of the live broadcast viewers were just passersby, if their fans appeared too thin-skinned, it would provoke the ire of the public.
Later, when he returned to his own living quarters and saw his agent, his face was so grim it seemed he could wring water from it.
"She’s deliberately screwing with me!"
He bit out the words as if they were being ground from his teeth, and his agent sighed, "Who doesn’t know? But the effect is indeed good, this afternoon the live broadcast room audience broke 15 million, a number many viewers can only dream of. You should be grateful—in a situation where Ellen hardly appeared, your and Lucy’s broadcast still reached this volume of traffic, it’s a very good outcome for you."
Clyde sat down and poured himself a big gulp of water, "She won’t make it easy for me in the coming days either."
