Chapter 354: 0354 Sure enough, he’s still drunk_1
Lucy Wood dared not indulge in wishful thinking, for fear that she was just imagining things, and could only chalk it up to coincidence.
The food was almost ready, with the main dish being Ellen Young’s braised duck, a few side dishes, meatball soup with greens, some marinated delicacies, as well as her own homemade pickled radish.
The meal came out rich in color, aroma, and taste.
Melissa Chan hadn’t finished watching all of Lucy’s live broadcast, but she knew that she had a sister who was especially good at cooking, and Ellen Young’s public revelation of her identity came after that.
Now smelling the delicious scent of food, Melissa felt her mouth watering uncontrollably, "Lucy, Ellen’s cooking really does smell amazing."
The irresistible scent was undeniable, and Melissa very obviously swallowed her saliva as she spoke.
At this sight, the barrage was filled with wails of despair.
In the middle of the day, for the sake of watching the live broadcast, they could only order takeout or eat instant noodles, and it was rare for anyone to be able to enjoy a meal at home while watching.
Every mealtime, watching Ellen’s live broadcast became much more torturous.
Melissa had left early in the morning and hadn’t had much for breakfast, so now the aroma was just too much for her to resist.
Lucy set the table, and the three of them sat in the pavilion, with Melissa repeatedly complimenting Ellen.
Ellen just smiled lightly, "As long as you like it."
She wouldn’t go out of her way to gain anyone’s favor; everyone who came here received the same treatment.
Considering that they were there for a program, Melissa’s sense of being on a show was quite good. She and Lucy were laughing and talking, which made the atmosphere much livelier, in stark contrast to the quiet companionship of Lucy and Ellen.
Ellen, who always had a good appetite, was satisfied with the meal. This was her first time making the braised duck, but she nailed it with the subtle sweet aroma of beer, even though it was a kind she’d never tasted before. The duck was flavorful, and she found it very fulfilling.
About halfway through the meal, both girls, one a celebrity and the other practically a celebrity, were very mindful of their figures. Along with the other side dishes and the meatball soup, Melissa and Lucy both felt somewhat full, while Ellen consumed half of the duck on her own.
As they ate, Lucy and Melissa’s gaze kept drifting towards her.
It wasn’t for any other reason, but because Ellen’s change was too noticeable.
Her face had turned red.
Hidden in the shadows, Damien Frost saw Ellen’s flushed face and knew she was going to suffer from eating the braised duck.
He hadn’t expected that she really couldn’t tolerate any alcohol at all. Ellen had never drunk before, so it wasn’t an issue, and today it was just braised duck, with the last time being a bit of champagne.
Damien watched the two girls, Lucy and Melissa, who looked innocent and unaware during the recording of the program, and he couldn’t help feeling a bit of sympathy for them.
They would probably wish they weren’t there later on.
The other members of the Special Force Team, sensing something was amiss, couldn’t help asking with a hint of a smile, "Should we say something? Miss Young seems to be in a bit of an unusual state."
The memory of her getting drunk and insisting Ruffy Smith submit his thesis was still fresh in their minds.
"She probably thinks she’s eating vegetables so it’s no big deal."
Damien curved his lips into a smile, watching Lucy ask Ellen with concern if there was any issue, while Ellen’s gaze was already starting to look off. He shrugged his shoulders, "Let it be, it’ll be fine as long as nothing else happens. Miss Young will go rest on her own."
It really couldn’t be more worry-free.
Besides, they were in the middle of a live broadcast show, and it wasn’t their place to appear on camera.
And it wasn’t just Lucy and Melissa who noticed the change in Ellen.
