Chapter 232: 0232 Pig Wants to Dig Up Cabbage_1
The outside had exploded with excitement due to Cecil Jack’s arrival, while Ellen Young was inside chatting with him.
She had poured tea for Cecil Jack, brewed by herself.
Of course, she hadn’t made it herself; it was a gift from someone else.
Anyway, it was something valuable.
Cecil Jack wasn’t particular about such things, just looking around at the backyard setting, and watching the little black dog running around Ellen Young, he couldn’t help but sigh, "This is rather nice for you. After all that busyness, you deserve some rest. It’s just that I didn’t expect you to be so surprising, not even giving us a heads up before joining the live broadcast. You have no idea how the news about you lately has been infuriating."
Imagine him, an academician of his stature and age, getting into arguments over Ellen Young on the Internet.
He couldn’t quarrel, only debate with others using facts and reason. He wouldn’t use Internet slang but rather argue with particularly difficult-to-understand logic.
Oftentimes, during a back-and-forth with haters, they would eventually stop engaging with him.
Because it was completely disproportionate; when he said things beyond their understanding, they’d think he was crazy.
His group would nearly die laughing while watching him argue with people online in their usual times.
If those haters knew they were squabbling with an academician, their eyes would probably pop out.
Ellen Young felt somewhat helpless, "Why do you care about those online news? You are an academician."
"So are you!"
Cecil Jack said irritably, "You’ve made such great contributions. Without you, where would these people find so much free time to talk about you on the Internet? And you’re not even concerned about it."
"Mouths and hands are theirs, not mine; there’s nothing I can do," Ellen Young said indifferently. "There’s no need for you to concern yourself; the excessively rude comments will be handled by others."
Even though her identity was now public, Ellen Young knew there would still be people who wouldn’t let things rest.
Now in the country, there are many scientists who’ve earned countless honors, yet just because of some trivial matter, their contributions could be dismissed, and there’s no shortage of people slandering them on the Internet.
Some people don’t care about that and would lambaste others if they feel like it.
Cecil Jack snorted and made his judgment: "A bunch of troublemakers!"
Ellen Young: "..."
Cecil Jack glanced at the striking villa in the distance, his curiosity piqued, "The Ruffy Smith you mentioned earlier, is he the lad from the Smith Family in Imperial City?"
Cecil Jack didn’t have any connection to the Smith Family and hadn’t paid much attention to them. Although the Smith Group was quite famous and he had some knowledge about it, he didn’t know them personally.
Ellen Young nodded, and Cecil Jack seemed puzzled, "What is he doing here?"
The Smiths, born with a silver spoon in their mouth, especially Ruffy Smith, the chosen one—could he really handle the hardships of this place?
"The Smith Family and I have an obligation to collaborate. They are expanding their business here, and the project is quite significant, so Ruffy Smith is responsible for it and has come over to oversee things."
That was the official reason. As for anything else, Ellen Young wasn’t one to say much.
"I’ve heard otherwise," Cecil Jack mentioned, having picked up on some rumors upon his arrival. His gaze shifted to Ellen Young, "No matter how big the project, they could have just sent an important figure to oversee it, yet they’re willing to send the crown prince of the family."
He chuckled coldly, "The old saying goes, ’The drinker’s heart isn’t in the cup.’
It’s probably like a pig eyeing a cabbage."
To others, Ellen Young might seem out of reach, but in Cecil Jack’s eyes, she was a 24-year-old girl; even if others didn’t dare, there would be those who did.
Ellen Young: "..."
