Chapter 221: 0221 It can clearly distinguish who is the master_1
Since it was Geoffrey Hann’s birthday, Ellen Young was still preparing to make a lavish lunch.
In the morning, she had asked the village chief to buy some fish to bring over and also bought two chickens.
One would be stewed, the other braised in soy sauce.
The chickens at home hadn’t grown enough to be used for cooking.
Blackie got especially excited as soon as he saw her cooking chicken. Ellen usually made extra for him to eat, so he followed her around every day, visibly getting fatter.
Since there wasn’t much time before the next shoot started, the program team would soon return to the village. Ellen thought about going on a major shopping trip when Lucy Wood came over.
Last time, she made a lot of pickles and almost all of them were given away. This time, she planned to make a heap of various pickles, like radish and cowpea.
She got up early in the morning, made breakfast for herself, and then began preparing to stew the chicken.
Stewing chicken took a particularly long time, and she didn’t consider Geoffrey’s tastes, even though it was his birthday feast; the flavors were definitely to her own liking. She loved her chicken stewed until it was exceptionally tender, not too old, but the kind where you take a bite, and the skin and meat just melt in your mouth—a marvelous taste.
When she had the time, she also made marinated chicken wings, chicken feet, and pig trotters.
She started bustling about early in the morning, and naturally, Geoffrey wasn’t so clueless—the moment he arrived early in the morning, he was there to help.
When he knocked on the door from the outside, Blackie dashed towards him barking, giving him quite a scare.
He had seen the dog yesterday, but he didn’t expect it to be so fierce.
"Blackie."
A crisp female voice called out from inside the house, and Blackie wagged his tail and stopped barking. Ellen opened the gate and let Geoffrey in, saying, "What are you doing here?"
Geoffrey smiled and said, "Teacher, I can’t possibly do nothing. That’s why I’ve come to lend a hand. Teacher, is there anything missing? I can ask someone to go and buy it."
"There’s nothing missing. If you want to help, then wash the green onions, ginger, and garlic."
With so many dishes to make, cleaning these little things was the most tedious.
"Okay."
Geoffrey was particularly obedient and sat down inside the courtyard to help. The little black dog walked around him, occasionally eyeing him warily.
But he didn’t seem to have any intention of biting him.
Geoffrey tried to reach out and pet him, but Blackie avoided his hand.
Soon after, Ruffy Smith also arrived.
This time, Geoffrey opened the door. When Ruffy saw Geoffrey coming so early, he immediately sneered, "You really are eager."
Despite being beaten up yesterday, Geoffrey didn’t learn his lesson, "Of course, it’s my birthday bash after all. I definitely need to be a bit more proactive."
Ruffy glanced at him, and Blackie, lying on the ground, wagged his tail at Ruffy.
As Ruffy had become a more frequent visitor, Blackie grew accustomed to him.
Ruffy had a thing for personal cleanliness, so he had no intention of petting him, but still, Blackie followed Ruffy closely with a wagging tail, successfully making Geoffrey jealous, "People judge by appearance, but does the dog too?"
"Of course, dogs don’t judge by appearance," Ruffy said with a lighter tone, "They just know who their real master is."
Geoffrey: "..."
Have you no shame? Say that again in front of Teacher!
At that moment, Ellen also came out from the bedroom. Seeing that Ruffy had come too, she remained silent and went back into the kitchen.
Ruffy chuckled and sat down to watch Geoffrey washing things.
Geoffrey was the weaker party and didn’t dare to make Ruffy do anything, so he kept his grievances to himself and continued washing his vegetables in place.
Suddenly, Ruffy said, "Really should capture this moment on camera."
