Chapter 188: 0188 Otherwise, why not bring your sister as well?_1
When Ellen Young woke up, she was unusually troubled by a headache.
Apart from irregular sleep due to experiments, she generally rested well and rarely suffered from headaches.
As she came to, she could still feel her cheeks burning slightly.
Touching them, she noticed they were somewhat flushed.
She remembered...
She had lunch with Ruffy Smith and drank champagne.
It seemed she got drunk, as now she could hardly recall what happened afterward, just a vague memory of giving Ruffy something.
What could she have given him?
Glancing around, she noticed her tablet had been moved.
She was certain of where she’d put it, it couldn’t have been by the bed.
She picked it up and didn’t find anything amiss.
Dismayed by her murky memories, she directly asked Damien Frost and the others about it.
Damien Frost reported honestly, "You were drunk, but you didn’t do anything, just forced Ruffy to submit his thesis and do some problems, then you went to sleep."
It was relatively reassuring.
Ellen: "...I forced Ruffy to submit a thesis?"
It had been five years since she’d last taught; how could such an obsession still linger in her bones?
Damien Frost couldn’t help but chuckle, covering his mouth with a fist: "Yes."
Ellen rubbed her forehead: "Well, that’s fine then."
She hadn’t expected her alcohol tolerance to be so poor, her actions so out of control; it seemed she could no longer drink at all.
The first time it was out of curiosity, but now, knowing that drinking could hamper her work and, oddly enough, cause partial memory loss, she would definitely abstain from alcohol.
She had to maintain her composure at all times.
Checking her cellphone, she realized she had somehow managed to silence it while sleeping, resulting in dozens of missed calls.
There were also many unread messages, and WhatsApp notifications were ceaselessly chiming.
After all, today was the big day she had received the Edgar Award, and compared to usual, it was somewhat busier; hence, there were more inquiries.
Just then, a video call notification popped up on WhatsApp.
She didn’t hesitate to answer it.
After connecting, the video revealed a kind-looking elderly lady with benevolent eyes, wearing a black floral dress with a knitted cardigan, her hair silver-white, sporting a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, radiating scholarly charm. Holding her phone in hand, seeing Ellen, her face broke into a warm smile: "Ah, Ellen is awake? I called Damien, and he said you were sleeping."
Ellen also smiled, greeting her: "Grandma Addison, I’m up, your call came at just the right time."
"My Ellen, still so beautiful."
Sidney Addison was a leading female scientist in Sina, who, despite the challenging domestic environment of her time, had the foresight to major in Electronic Information, laying an indelible foundation for the development of information technology in Sina; she was truly a pioneer.
She had meticulously tutored Ellen and was the biggest influence in her life.
Smiling warmly, she said, "Just three days until Grandma’s birthday, you should come over quickly; Grandma wants to see you dearly."
Now genuinely retired and enjoying family life, she still longed for Ellen the most.
Ellen laughed: "How could I forget Grandma Addison’s birthday? Don’t worry, I’ll come over tomorrow."
Sidney Addison waved through the screen, "Good, Grandma is waiting for you. But I watched that program with you and your sister; why don’t you bring her along too?"
Ellen raised her eyebrows slightly: "You want to meet her?"
