Chapter 109: 0109 Staying Up Late Sudden Death_1
After several days of wrangling, the program’s popularity continued to rise.
Many people came out of curiosity, and the number of online viewers was now steadily and consistently increasing.
Lucy Wood now had over 3 million, almost reaching 4 million, mostly from those who came through trending topics.
The endorsement issue had piqued everyone’s interest, and they were tearing into it.
The top spot, of course, belonged to Victor Brown. Being a top influencer was no joke. Now his live broadcast had steadily broken through 8 million viewers, and it was estimated that in a day or two, breaking 10 million wouldn’t be a problem.
Keep in mind, these were real-time numbers, without any fake online viewers.
Maintaining such numbers almost every minute of the day, despite many people having to work or study, it proved the program was indeed getting hotter.
Ellen’s cool expression made many fans holler in the barrage, proclaiming she was too cute and truly a modern-day beauty.
Lucy didn’t push Ellen to interact more, and after chatting with fans for a while and in a good mood, upon seeing comments about her gaining weight, she pinched the slight bit of flesh around her waist and cooed, "Sis’s cooking is just too delicious, it really is... I can’t control myself."
[That’s no excuse for your indulgence!]
[How delicious? I want to try it too, ahhhh!!!]
[Is your sister opening a shop? If she does, I’ll definitely buy something.]
[Are you planning to open an Amazon store? Ahhhh, if you open one I’ll definitely patronize it!]
[Nonsense, how could a professor, an immortal, possibly cook?]
[...I’m new here, and I want to ask if she’s always like this? Impossible, then who have I seen before?]
[Alas, the world is declining, the teacher is forced to engage in business]
...
Lucy caught the word "teacher" flashing by, but the barrage was too fast. She thought they were referring to her since fans always had weird nicknames. She didn’t respond and said cheerfully, "It’s about time, I’m going to help Ellen out, I’ll come back and chat with you guys next time."
The barrage erupted again, and after she ended the live broadcast, she exhaled, "The fans are so enthusiastic, the barrage was so fast I couldn’t see a single word, and I was too embarrassed to say..."]
The barrage immediately burst into laughter, [Aren’t you silly, we can hear you talking now].
Ellen saw some of the barrage and suddenly asked, "What does ’Albert is dead’ mean?"
She only glanced at Twitter occasionally and seldom read the comments, not quite understanding some of the meanings.
She felt that saying ’dead dead dead’ might not be too good?
Lucy: "..."
She interacted with fans and browsed Twitter regularly, so she knew the gist: "It just means they really like you, like you to the point of being charmed to death by you. It’s an abbreviation that has evolved into this meaning. It’s the fans’ way of expressing their adoration for you."
Ellen: "Oh."
She arched her eyebrows and then went back to reading her comic.
The barrage followed, swarming with [Albert is dead], completely covering the screen.
You could hardly see the people anymore.
Lucy asked, "Don’t you go online much usually?"
Ellen shrugged, "Not really, only occasionally to check the news."
In her free time, she would rather spend more time on technological research.
Lucy shook her head, "Oh, I’m different, when I have some free time, I can’t help but want to play with my cellphone, cellphones are just so fun."
Ellen nodded, uninterested in this triviality, and simply said, "You should go to bed early tonight. You’ve been going to bed late these past two nights, haven’t you? Staying up is scientifically proven to be bad for your health, and poor sleep quality can increase the risk of sudden death."
Lucy: "..."
[Hahahahahahaha, staying up can lead to sudden death, did you hear that!?]
[That’s terrifying, scared me into deciding to pull an all-nighter!]
