Chapter 908: Chapter 855: The Advantage is Mine

Just the day after Wang Ye left Kiev, Yanukovych and Yulia announced publicly that they planned to join forces in the election.

The news caused a sensation nationwide!

Because such a scenario had never occurred before, who ever heard of two people "forming a group" to participate in an election? And if they won, who would be the primary and who would be the subordinate?

This question was soon answered, as the newly formed election team was led by Yanukovych.

They even made a public announcement that if they won, Yanukovych would serve as President and Yulia as Prime Minister!

Alright then, before the formal election they had already settled their positions.

It was as if candidates for two positions were selected all at once...

Yushchenko’s competitors naturally got wind of this news immediately, and it came as a huge surprise to them.

According to the advice of the consultant team, Yushchenko even planned to communicate with Yulia to bring her into his "camp"!

As a result, Yanukovych got the jump on them, catching Yushchenko’s team somewhat off guard. They immediately called an Emergency Meeting to discuss how to respond to this new challenge.

"What exactly happened? Why would Yulia suddenly join forces with Yanukovych? Yanukovych used to look down on Yulia quite a bit. In several TV Station interviews, he was disrespectful towards her, claiming she was nothing more than a vase and didn’t understand a thing about politics," Yushchenko said with a gloomy face, asking in frustration.

In the Meeting Room, apart from his two trusted Assistants, there were members of the consultant team.

An Assistant hastily answered, "According to my research, there really were no signs of this happening before. Just a few days ago, the two of them were still enemies, and Yulia also criticized Yanukovych’s election ideas at various occasions, claiming that he was no longer suited for the age! Who knew that a few days later they would collude together."

Yushchenko turned his gaze to the members of the consultant team, wanting to hear their opinions.

The leader of the consultant team was named Mike, a bona fide American from Yale Law School with Doctorates in Law and Media, a true Elite.

The team that came to assist Yushchenko in the Election was also headed by him.

Mike was also fluent in Russian, so communication was completely unproblematic.

In those years, most people in Ukraine primarily spoke Russian. But even if it was the Ukrainian Language, it was not much different from Russian, as they were mutually intelligible.

If Russian is akin to Mandarin, then Ukrainian would be Mandarin with a regional accent, a minor difference...

...

Mike frowned deeply, speaking in a serious tone, "Yulia’s sudden defection to Yanukovych’s side was indeed unexpected, since they had no common interests, and their ideologies were also widely divergent. Frankly, Yulia’s interests align more closely with yours, and the two of you forming an alliance would be the best choice. I suspect there is someone orchestrating this behind the scenes!"

Yushchenko had a flash of intuition and blurted out, "Mikhail!"

Clearly, the only significant event that had taken place in the past few days was Mikhail’s visit.

It was right after Mikhail’s arrival that Yulia announced her alliance with Yanukovych, making it difficult not to suspect Mikhail had played a major role in this.

After all, Yushchenko was well aware that Mikhail definitely supported Yanukovych.

Mike nodded, "I also suspect that Mikhail facilitated their partnership. Don’t forget, Mikhail offered Yulia a Super big contract! That must be what tempted Yulia to join forces with Yanukovych."

Yushchenko said through gritted teeth, "These businessmen are indeed despicable people who forsake loyalty for profit! A little bit of interest has bought them off! After I come to power, I will certainly settle accounts with them!"

Just talking tough was of no use, and Yushchenko soon became worried because he now had to face a joint challenge.

Apparently, his opponent’s Support rate had already surpassed his own, and he estimated their Election funds were not inferior to his either.

After all, if Mike and I guessed right, then Mikhail was officially getting involved, and that young man had control of Yukos Group and Russian Gas Industry Group, two Energy giants!

For them, coughing up a billion or two billion US dollars was a piece of cake.

But the forces behind Yushchenko obviously couldn’t invest unlimited funds for his campaign.

After all, the money they provided had to be allocated from their "patrons’" Finance budget and follow procedures.

On this point, one could not compare with Mikhail, the Boss of the Yukos Group...

...

After analyzing for half a day, they had more or less figured out the truth of the matter.

But that wasn’t the crux of the issue.

The more pressing matter was how to deal with the current situation, how to break the deadlock!

"Let’s hear what everyone thinks—how strong are our chances? Can we win next year’s Election?" Yushchenko asked in a heavy tone.

But this time he did not look at his Assistants; instead, he stared straight at Mike.

Because he knew that relying solely on his own strength, he would definitely not be able to compete with his opponents. At present, he could only depend on Mike... and the power behind Mike!

If they were willing to invest more heavily to help him, there was still a great chance of success.
