Chapter 619: A Big Test_1

Chapter 619: Chapter 619: A Big Test_1

Heading to the Kremlin, naturally they couldn’t be too high-profile. Consequently, Wang Ye did not go by his convoy. Instead, he let Xie Liaosha drive them there.

Now, when it came to visiting that great building again, Wang Ye didn’t need to be escorted.

Directly at the entrance, he presented his credentials and after passing through security, he could proceed.

Of course, it was still prohibited to bring in items like mobile phones and weapons. These had to be handed over to the staff who would store them in lockers in the first floor lobby. The items could only be retrieved when leaving.

Rossiyana was no exception, she also underwent the security screening.

After going upstairs, Wang Ye familiarly led Rossiyana first to Gavriil’s office.

Upon opening the door, they saw Gavriil holding a landline phone, discussing work matters with someone.

Upon seeing the pair enter, Gavriil’s face broke into a smile. He waved his hand, indicating for them to seat themselves.

Both found their seats and less than two minutes later, Gavriil hung up the phone.

He laughingly greeted them, "Just wait a while longer. Mr. Puding is still dealing with something. After he’s done, we can go there."

Both Wang Ye and Rossiyana nodded in understanding.

Naturally, Puding was rather busy. After all, in his position, there were many national affairs that required his attention on a daily basis.

The schedule of each day was meticulously planned, right down to the minute!

On several occasions when Wang Ye had visited for meals, he had always precisely timed his exit, adhering to the Secretary’s prior notification, which was usually kept within a thirty to forty-five-minute range.

...

After a bit of small talk, predominately discussing today’s Duma Congress, it was clear that Wang Ye’s performance at the congress had greatly satisfied the Kremlin.

The invitation to dinner was probably an opportunity to personally provide some "praise" to him!

Gavriil did not reveal much, only mentioning with a smile that it had been quite some time since Mr. Puding had last seen Rossiyana. It was most opportune now, as Wang Ye had been invited for dinner, to also invite Rossiyana.

It was perhaps an opportunity to ask Rossiyana about her work experience with Wang Ye and if she had learned anything new.

Towards Gavriil, Rossiyana displayed considerable respect, indicating that they were not very close.

But Wang Ye was more casual, he and Gavriil were becoming more like "fast friends".

Even though there was no overt interests shared between them, the implicit relationship was nevertheless significant.

After all, Wang Ye was the candidate recommended by Gavriil to Puding.

Moreover, he’d made a significant "bet" on Wang Ye!

The better Wang Ye developed and the brighter he shone, the more useful he’d be to the Kremlin, proving that Gavriil was indeed a keen judge of character.

If that were to happen, Wang Ye would not need to offer him anything; from the party and the Kremlin, Gavriil would still substantially benefit.

However, if Wang Ye’s performance did not meet expectations, or worse, if he became an enemy to the Kremlin, then Gavriil would certainly face repercussions...

...

After some conversation, Gavriil checked his watch, a Patek Philippe that Wang Ye had given him. It wasn’t particularly conspicuous, but undeniably pricey.

"Alright, they seem to have finished. Let’s go," he said with a smile as he stood up.

So, both Wang Ye and Rossiyana followed behind Gavriil, heading towards the office at the end of the corridor.

At the door, two armed guards saluted them without hindrance.

Seeing as it was Gavriil, the high-ranking official of the Kremlin, personally bringing them, and Wang Ye and Rossiyana were known to them, there was no need for an additional inspection.

Upon being introduced to Puding, both Wang Ye and Rossiyana stepped forward to greet him.

However, one referred to him as "Mr. President," and the other called him "Father-in-law."

Seeing the two young people in front of him, Puding was in good spirits and even began to joke.

"Hehe, for a while now, I’ve been hearing that the two of you are being hailed as the Golden Couple of the Duma. Looking at you now, indeed, you do make a charming pair!"

Rossiyana blushed, shyly glanced at Wang Ye and did not reply.

Wang Ye also beamed bashfully, not saying anything.

He dared not continue along this line of thought, out of fear that Puding would insist on playing "matchmaker."

If that happened, he would truly be faced with a dilemma. On the one hand, not daring to refuse, but on the other hand, wondering about what would happen with Angelina...

Fortunately, Puding did not prolong the topic. Instead, he checked the time and stood up, leading the group into the living room behind him. He was getting ready for dinner.

The same "secret suite", a small dining room within. They gathered around the dining table, having their meal and chatting simultaneously.

"You are now at the helm. Do you have any thoughts about the Third Faction and the Economic Committee’s operations?" asked Puding casually.

He didn’t even mention the position of "Vice Speaker."

It was apparent that amongst the three major roles Wang Ye now held, the roles of Third Faction Party Leader and Chairman of the Economic Committee are the real positions of power. As for the Vice Speaker, it was much more symbolic, bearing little practical significance.

Because the party leader of the Third Faction would definitely be able to serve as Vice Speaker!

The vice speaker, in the normal course of proceedings in the Duma, did not differ significantly from regular congressmen. During meetings though, they could sit on the podium, and their office would be larger.

However, the positions of Third Faction Party Leader and Chairman of the Economic Committee were quite different.

The former controlled a significant faction; if they had the popular "will of the people," their influence would be considerable!

The latter, while not able to determine the country’s overall economic development, still held significant influence over the national economy to a certain extent.

Therefore, the first question Puding asked Wang Ye was whether he had any thoughts or plans after taking on these two roles.

Puding still held high hopes for Wang Ye.

Because this young man was now a rare breed among the political upper echelon who was not only willing to work but could also achieve results!

As for the others, they have been busy seeking benefits for themselves and their factions...

...

Wang Ye understood that he had to answer this question carefully as this was almost like the Kremlin’s "big examination" for him.

If answered well and then able to effectively implement it, then in the Kremlin’s eyes, his worth would undoubtedly increase.

If his answer was not satisfactory, or if his answer did not align with Puding’s expectations, it goes without saying that his future hurdles would suddenly become much more substantial...

He pondered for a moment, organizing his thoughts before finally responding, "I do have a few ideas, mostly focusing on the economic aspect. As for the faction, I do not have many thoughts. Maintaining unity is sufficient."

Wang Ye’s response was well thought out.

Work must have its focus. Currently, one side is the faction and the other side is the Economic Committee. Where should one place the focus?

No matter what his personal thoughts, in front of Puding, undoubtedly he must stress that he was more concerned about his economic work.
