Chapter 541: Chapter 541: Don’t Mess Around_1

The smile froze on his face as Wang Ye looked at Gavriil in surprise.

"Why?" he blurted out.

After he asked, Wang Ye felt a twinge of impropriety.

Sure enough, Gavriil retorted without hesitation, "Why should he help you? And even bring the entire faction along! Do you think he, as the party leader, can make decisions on behalf of the faction without giving a convincing reason that everyone in his faction can believe in?"

Wang Ye’s face flushed slightly, he had been impulsive!

He seemed immature...

But it didn’t matter, his age was the best "excuse." Even if he occasionally acted unprofessionally or immaturely, Gavriil and the others wouldn’t blame him for it.

They would only patiently explain to him, help him understand why and nurture his growth!

Also, the current dispute over the pipeline route clearly had fierce undercurrents behind it, yet it had nothing much to do with The First Faction.

If you looked at it from within the Duma, it seemed more like a struggle between The Second Faction and The Third Faction...

In that case, the best course of action for Grezlov would naturally be to sit back and watch the power struggle, not easily take sides with any faction.

After all, as the Speaker, he should strive for fairness and justice. Only then would he be able to convince the masses!

........

It seemed that taking the backdoor approach to establish connections wouldn’t work.

Wang Ye furrowed his brow, contemplating on how to gain more support from the Duma.

Clearly, of the 450 seats in the Duma, the Congressmen belonging to The Second Faction would undoubtedly support the Anna Line during a vote.

And The Third Faction he belonged to would undoubtedly support him, i.e., the Anda Line!

The opinions of the smaller factions mattered little, as they barely had any seats.

For now, the most important thing was to win a massive number of votes from The First Faction...

But with Grezlov’s stance still unclear, both sides could only rely on their abilities, present the facts and argue reasonably, even making efforts behind the scenes to garner as much support as possible.

Thinking about this, a faint smile appeared on Wang Ye’s face. He looked up at Gavriil, sweeping his palm downwards as though chopping into the air, "Or, I will..."

It seemed like Gavriil had misunderstood something. Before Wang Ye could finish, he quickly refused, shaking his hands and saying seriously, "No nonsense! I know you have powerful armed forces at your disposal, but we are in Moscow here dealing with highly respected, high-profile personalities!"

Wang Ye paused, chuckling bitterly as he clarified, "That’s not what I meant. I was thinking about bringing the matter to the Duma Council, dealing with it cleanly and decisively! That way, we can avoid petty tricks behind closed doors from both sides, as it might just cause a great deal of trouble if it harms the harmony."

Gavriil then broke out into a smile and nodded, "If you think this way, then it’s correct! The issues on the surface need to be resolved using proper procedures. You absolutely must not bring the underhand tactics employed in the market onto the political arena; that’s a big taboo!"

Clearly, he was reminding Wang Ye that being involved with activities like "murder and arson", acceptable against petty hoodlums, are completely unacceptable against political adversaries in the political arena.

If these methods are used against the enemies in the political arena, that would be inviting a world of trouble!

Because no faction would allow him to do so.

Even though the conflicts between the various factions can be intense, they only use methods within the rules. If you resort to using force directly, that would create chaos; inducing fear in everyone, benefitting no one.

So, if anyone dares to act rashly, all the other factions would join forces against him!

........

After understanding the stance of the Kremlin from Gavriil, Wang Ye knew what he needed to do next.

Since the other side was confident in their victory and wanted to have a voting decision at the Duma Meeting, he was not afraid either.

So, he would defeat his opponents straightforwardly in the Duma, leaving them speechless!

Wang Ye knew that the reason why they dared to participate in the voting at the Duma was because they believed their victory was certain.

After all, the Anna Line, considered from many angles, was indeed more beneficial to Russia’s national interests.

At this time, Yukos Group also had more money than China and was more powerful.

Moreover, the new route proposed by Yukos Group did not reject cooperation with China, but simply wished for Russia to cooperate not only with China...

Were it not for the fact that this matter was supported by The Second Faction, it’s likely that the Kremlin would have already made clear their intentions to support the Anna Line.

........

After dinner, they bid farewell and drove off in their respective cars.

Wang Ye directly returned to Xiao Ying Hotel for a break, while Gavriil returned to the Kremlin and headed straight for Puding’s office.

It was already past eight o’clock in the evening, but Puding was still working.

While his position might seem glamorous to outsiders, it was in fact incredibly exhausting, especially considering the mess he now found himself in.

He glanced at Gavriil and asked with a smile, "Had dinner with Misha?"

Gavriil nodded, sat in the chair in front of Puding’s desk and reported everything they had discussed during dinner.

Finally he said, "From what I see, Misha aims to settle the matter in the Duma Council Meeting. I have no idea where his confidence comes from, whether he can win the vote."

Puding shook his head with a smile, "Misha is no ordinary person. He often surprises us. This time... although I also don’t see much chance for him, who knows? He might create a miracle once again!"

Clearly, while they hadn’t involved themselves in this matter, based on an objective analysis, the Kremlin also believed that the ones who could ultimately win were the "Anna Line"!

In fact, who won and who lost didn’t matter much to the Kremlin.

Gavriil showed a bit of concern for Wang Ye, frowning as he said, "This kid has had it too easy to date, he hasn’t suffered a setback yet. I feel like this time it would be hard for him to turn things around. This is because he still hasn’t realised how formidable his opponents are and obviously he is no match for them yet."

Indeed, The Second Faction in the Duma was undoubtedly powerful.

While they didn’t appear to have many seats in the Duma on the surface, they were far behind Grezlov’s First Faction.

But keep in mind, many in The Second Faction were veteran officials, they all held important positions!

Although there weren’t many of them, their influence was substantial!

Even the Kremlin would not dare to offend them lightly under normal circumstances...

Unconcerned, Puding said, "Then let him experience a setback, it would serve as a good lesson for him. It’s not too important for him which route is ultimately selected; it doesn’t have much to do with him!"

Wang Ye was not unaware of this fact, he was not yet the chairman of the Yukos Group!

If the Anna Line was chosen, how would his interests be harmed?

None at all!

Then why did he still wrestle with them and refuse to give up...
