Chapter 469: Chapter 469: Is It Because of This Trivial Matter?_1

Outside the Lada car, there were two Russian policemen standing. They were dressed in camouflage blue cotton suits and wore matching train-driver-style hats.

They both carried assault rifles and were seriously looking at Zhang Ke in the car.

Zhang Ke felt guilty and hurriedly opened the car door, but dared not get out of the car let alone reveal his true self. With a smile on his face, he popped his head out of the car and asked, "Is there anything I can help with? I’m a student from Friendship University."

He was trying to reveal his "identity" as a foreign student. Although the Russian police have a very poor reputation among Chinese merchants, they generally do not bother foreign students, especially those on university campuses.

Now, he is under the dormitory building. Although Zhang Ke was a little scared and didn’t know why the police were looking for him, he was not too worried.

However, to Zhang Ke’s surprise, one of the police officers, without saying a word, grabbed his collar and pulled him out of the car.

Since his upper body was leaning out of the car first, Zhang Ke didn’t have a chance to stand before he was pushed down into the snow.

Before he could react, he felt his arms being twisted behind his back, and with a click sound, handcuffs were put on his wrists.

"What are... what are you doing! I am just a student." It was then that Zhang Ke was able to say something.

The tall and muscular police officer who handcuffed Zhang Ke picked him up from the ground and made him stand. With a stern face, he asked, "Are you Zhang Ke?"

Zhang Ke hastily nodded.

"You are under arrest on suspicion of illegal business practices! Let’s go to our station."

As he said that, he pulled out a document, the contents of which Zhang Ke couldn’t make it clear.

Of course, even if he could see clearly, he wouldn’t understand it...

In fact, he didn’t quite understand what the police officer was saying either. After all, he had only been studying Russian for over a year. He was not a Russian "genius" like Wang Ye who could understand it effortlessly.

Luckily, the Chinese student he gave a ride to was a senior and spoke good Russian.

The senior student witnessed the whole event and looked shocked. He finally came back to reality.

He hurriedly got out of the car, roughly explained to Zhang Ke what the police were saying, and then turned to the officers and asked timidly, "Excuse me, did you make a mistake?... Zhang Ke is just an ordinary foreign student. He has a visa and is not an illegal worker."

The police officer replied impatiently, "I know he is a student! Any questions can be asked to a lawyer. Don’t interrupt my duty now. Do you also want to come with us to the police station?"

His last sentence was clearly a threat.

The senior student hurriedly raised his hands and unconsciously stepped back two steps, "No, no, no, please don’t misunderstand. I’m just asking for him. This has nothing to do with me. He runs an illegal taxi service, and I’m just a passenger who took a ride from the airport. I don’t know him well..."

It was no joke that he had done his moral duty by helping Zhang Ke to translate what the police said.

Of course, he wouldn’t voluntarily go to the police station with Zhang Ke. He didn’t know Zhang Ke well and he had to pay for the ride.

Who would want to get involved in such a mess...

The two police officers, one on the left and one on the right, took Zhang Ke to the parked police vehicle and drove towards the police station.

......

In Russia, the police cars are similar to the popular Iveco type in China at that time, only a little smaller.

Inside the car, the front and back are separated. The police sat in front while the back was divided by an iron railing, which basically made the back of the vehicle a cage.

And that was where Zhang Ke was kept...

While sitting in the car, Zhang Ke’s forehead was constantly sweating. His mind was blank and he felt as if he was dreaming.

What on earth did he do to be arrested?

Despite always bragging about his local connections and street smarts back in China, being arrested in Russia, a completely unfamiliar place without any relatives or connections to bail him out was a different story.

He didn’t even want to think about what would happen if he was detained. He had heard that the prisons in Russia were filled with ruthless criminals and he, with his small stature, wouldn’t stand a chance against these big guys.

His Russian language skills were not good. How was he supposed to communicate once he was at the station? According to the senior student earlier, he was arrested because of illegal work, but he didn’t work at the marketplace...

While he was lost in his thoughts, the car suddenly came to a stop.

He looked out of the small window and realized they were probably at the police station.

With a "clang" sound, the rear door of the car opened and Zhang Ke was dragged out of the car like a little chicken.

He was led into the building, turning this way and that until he was taken into an empty room, which was probably the interrogation room.

The tall policeman shoved Zhang Ke into a metal chair, unclamping one side of the handcuff and then chaining him and the chair together.

Throughout the entire process, Zhang Ke did not dare to even breathe, let alone resist.

"Wait!"

The policeman snapped coldly and then left the room, leaving Zhang Ke all alone.

About five to six minutes later, the door opened and two sets of footsteps were heard.

Zhang Ke turned his head to see that two middle-aged men had walked in. Judging from their uniforms, they were not just ordinary police officers but looked like some sort of leaders.

"Are you Zhang Ke? We received a report that you were operating a taxi business without a permit and were profiting from your personal vehicle. Is that true?" One of the middle-aged men asked as soon as he sat down.

More surprisingly, he spoke in Chinese!

Although his pronunciation was not very standard, at least Zhang Ke could understand what he was saying. It seemed that this police station was quite humanized. Knowing that Zhang Ke’s Russian was not good, they specifically found someone who could speak Chinese to communicate with him.

Zhang Ke was stunned. He really didn’t expect that he would be arrested for this!

After a while, he retorted, "Yes, I did. But there are illegal taxis everywhere in Moscow. They are not regular taxis either, so why are you only arresting me and not others?"

Zhang Ke felt that he was really wronged!

For such a small matter, he was arrested. Many people run illegal taxis, and many people work in the marketplace as translators, but nobody seems to care about them.

Why was he being singled out!

To his surprise, another uniformed middle-aged man slapped the table and said something in Russian which Zhang Ke didn’t understand at all...

Luckily, there was a Russian who spoke Chinese there.

Once that person finished speaking, the Chinese-speaking Russian chuckled and translated for Zhang Ke, "Chief Vladimir said, you do not need to worry about whether others are breaking the law. That’s what we have to consider. But now, you have broken the law..."
