Becoming a Russian Oligarch After Rebirth
Chapter 442 New Committee Member_1

Chapter 442: Chapter 442 New Committee Member_1

February 13th, also the 8th day of the lunar month in China.

Many of Wang Ye’s high school classmates, including Zhang Xiaoxi, had not yet returned to school.

Meanwhile, Wang Ye had arrived at the Duma Building in the morning for an important meeting.

Stepping out of his Mercedes Benz, he stood on the plaza in front of the Duma Building, looking up at the huge golden double-headed eagle emblem on the rooftop.

It seems that Russians have a unique fondness for gold, as gold-plated double-headed eagle emblems are commonly seen in state institutions and officials’ offices.

Even on the wall of Wang Ye’s office, there was a decent-sized golden double-headed eagle emblem...

Although the Duma Building was not particularly tall, its expansive floor area made for an impressive sight!

Many Duma Members were gradually arriving, walking in pairs or groups towards the building. The plaza was filled with luxury cars of all kinds, from Mercedes Benz to BMW, Hummer, and even top-of-the-line Rolls Royces.

It was clear that the members were all extremely wealthy...

Wang Ye did not parade his entire fleet of vehicles in front of the building, opting instead to arrive in a single Mercedes Benz. He didn’t want to draw too much attention to himself.

Out of all the Duma Members, Wang Ye only recognized Rilinov, and knew none of the others.

But quite evidently, many of the members knew Wang Ye... or should I say, Mikhail.

After all, during the election, his reputation as the "youngest-ever Member" was infamous, thereby leaving a deep impression on everyone.

Many people nodded to Wang Ye in acknowledgment, to which he responded with a smile.

Of course, from the eyes of some people, Wang Ye could detect a hint of hostility or... jealousy!

After all, he was very young to be standing among a crowd of people in their thirties, forties, and older, garnering attention...

......

Following the crowd through the security check at the main entrance, they entered the Duma Meeting Hall.

The hall was like a movie theater, only without a giant screen. At the front was a stage with a long table and several chairs against the wall.

Obviously, this is where the Speaker and Vice-Speakers would sit.

Before this row of tables and chairs, there was a small podium. Members would stand here to give speeches or reports.

Below that stage were rows of individual seats, 450 in total.

These are the seats for the ordinary members.

In front of each seat there was a small table for placing documents, nameplates, water, and other items.

Of course, on the wall behind the stage was yet another dazzling golden double-headed eagle emblem, very noticeable!

Wang Ye’s seat was in the first row, but towards one side, as his faction only had just over thirty dumasiats, not a particularly large party.

After entering the hall, Wang Ye quickly walked to his seat and sat down.

The other members also took their seats as it neared ten o’clock.

At the stage, several people came in one after another from the back. Wang Ye recognized two of them. The first one was Grezlov, the Duma Speaker, and the Party leader of the largest faction in the Duma!

This man was a legend; he was an ordinary engineer five years ago before an unexpected opportunity led him into politics.

In just five years, he had become the party leader of Russia’s largest faction!

In the recent Duma renewal, he was elected as the next Speaker, a meteoric rise indeed.

Grezlov was tall and powerful, with a head of grey hair, short and messy, and a neatly trimmed grey moustache.

His stern face gave an imposing impression, quite the aura.

The other one was of course Wang Ye’s immediate superior, Rilinov, the Vice Speaker.

Wang Ye did not recognize the other Vice Speakers.

As the Speaker and Vice Speakers took their seats one by one, with Speaker Grezlov standing up to declare, the meeting officially began!

This meeting was simple in its agenda – the formation of the new committees within the Duma Council.

The International Relations Committee, Defense Military Committee, Legal Committee, Economic Committee, etc...

Of course, the list of committee members had been pre-negotiated by the various factions, each tacitly dividing the committee seats according to their strengths, number of dumasiats, etc.

Members who could join the committees naturally were the backbones of each faction!

With the announcement of the list, "Mikhail’s" name, without a doubt, appeared on the list for the Economic Committee...

This committee had a total of eleven members.

What surprised Wang Ye was that Grezlov actually took on the role of Director of the Economic Committee himself!

This showed that the Economic Committee was indeed very important in Grezlov’s eyes.

Except for acknowledging everyone when his name was announced, Wang Ye had no chance to speak from the beginning to the end.

However, the smaller meeting held immediately after the plenary was the most important one.

The eleven members of the newly formed Economic Committee came to a small meeting room upstairs for a meet and greet...

......

"Alright, now that we all know each other, I hope in the coming years, we can all work together to plan for and develop our country’s economy! Everyone here is a business elite, specializing in various industries..."

Grezlov personally chaired the meeting and assigned the task for everyone to produce a planning case after returning.

They could start from their industry or from the national level, but the goal was to promote the country’s economic development. As long as the plan is feasible, there would be no problem!

After assigning the task, Grezlov turned to look at Wang Ye.

With a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, he said, "Mikhail, you are the youngest in the committee, but also the richest! I’ve heard a lot about you, many people say you are the business prodigy of the younger generation, a once-in-a-century genius! I hope you can present a satisfactory plan and not disappoint everyone..."

The eyes of the other nine committee members also focused on Wang Ye, their expressions varying.

Some showed admiration, some encouragement, some disdain...

Wang Ye inwardly felt a chill, this old man!

He was giving a public praise, but also setting a trap!

In front of so many business moguls, praising him as a once-in-a-century business genius, was just setting him up for trouble.

He had been placed on a pedestal; if his plan wasn’t spectacular enough in a few days, he would really lose face...

Yet, for over a decade, the Russian economy had been in a mess, a result of various factors.

How could he, with one casual plan, reverse the course of history!
