Becoming a Russian Oligarch After Rebirth -
Chapter 396: Establishing a Private Fleet_1
Chapter 396: Chapter 396: Establishing a Private Fleet_1
The Black Sea Shipyard is located in the Nikolaev State, southern Ukraine, overlooking the Black Sea.
Wang Ye and his team flew directly from Moscow to Nikolayev State Airport. Although the airport there was much the same as in Simferopol, a bit shabby and small, at least there were direct flights, which was quite convenient.
While sitting on a somewhat run-down Tu-154 plane, Wang Ye thought of something.
That was, in the midst of recent busyness, he’d forgotten about his plan to buy an airplane...
Last time, when he went to Chukotka, he had to take a plane sent by A Bu back to Moscow because he didn’t have his own private jet.
At that time, Wang Ye had made plans to buy a private jet because he knew there would be plenty of times where he’d need to travel a lot. He certainly had the need for it.
Plus, maintaining a private jet in Russia is not very expensive, and applying for air routes is also quite convenient.
Above all, he would find it a lot more convenient to visit places like Crimea Peninsula, Chukotka, or Siberia with his own private jet.
Unfortunately, he’d been too busy lately and had forgotten about this plan.
So for this trip to the Black Sea Shipyard, he had to resort to a worn-out commercial plane again.
Thinking of this, Wang Ye felt a bit rueful. He turned his head towards Kaja and said, "Remember, after we’re back in Moscow, remind me to buy a private jet. Or maybe after we get back, you could contact A Bu’s airline company and see if we could lease a business jet for extended use."
Indeed, if he were to order his own private jet, there might not be a fast delivery.
The fastest way, naturally, would be to lease.
It so happened that A Bu had control over a large airline company, this connection would, surely, allow them to lease a plane for the time being.
Kaja nodded, indicating that she remembered this task.
......
Anton, who was sitting next to him, leaned over and asked in a subdued but excited voice, "Boss, are we going to buy a warship this time?"
When Wang Ye notified them to come along for the trip, he simply mentioned that they would be heading to the Black Sea Shipyard to buy a ship.
Even though Wang Ye didn’t elaborate, Anton and his team could guess that because what else could the Black Sea Shipyard sell, if not warships!
Even though Anton had been in the army, he didn’t have much to do with warships. But as a man, who wouldn’t like major warships...
"Yes, in fact, we’ve already settled on one ten-thousand-ton cruiser. This time we’re going to see if there’s anything else worth buying. After all, it would seem too insufficient to just have one ship," Wang Ye casually replied.
Anton was taken aback. He initially thought that even if they were to buy a warship, it would only be a patrol ship or something along the lines of several hundred tons, at the most a thousand tons.
The concept of a "ten-thousand-ton warship" was something he had never even dared to think about.
He at least understands a little; wanting to buy such a large warship, isn’t just about the sky-high price.
Also, the upkeep after the purchase wouldn’t be something mere folks can afford.
Driving a ship needs people, and a ten-thousand-ton warship would need how many professionals to operate?
The minimum requirement would be several hundreds of people, or even a thousand with a more generous count.
So much money will be needed just to pay their salaries each year!
And let’s not forget about various miscellaneous costs, which would also add up worth a lot of money when combined.
Furthermore, such a large ship would entail high fuel and maintenance costs that can be described as astonishing. Just casually computed, the expenses can amount to millions or even tens of millions of US dollars a year!
Is it not because of the high maintenance cost that not only has Ukraine wanted to sell all the large warships after the Former Soviet Breakdown, but also Russia didn’t have many large warships left?
Isn’t it because the country can’t afford the maintenance!
The large warships that even the country can’t afford to maintain, however, Wagner Security Company dares to buy!
Anton was evidently amazed. This is what you call a vision...
Not only does Boss Mikhail have a big vision, but also the newly arrived Colonel Peterlo Petrov does not lack that kind of vision!
Seemingly, under the leadership of these two, the future of Wagner Company is bound to be limitless!
.....
As per usual habit, Wang Ye slept through the long-haul flight.
When he woke up, the plane was just about to land at Nikolayev Airport...
As soon as the plane stopped, Anton made a phone call to Peterlo Petrov.
After disconnecting the call, he reported to Wang Ye: "Boss, Peterlo and his team are waiting for us on the apron. They brought cars."
Peterlo had been working on the security base in Crimea Peninsula this whole time.
The priority of this base is higher than the Siberian base!
As per Wang Ye’s plan, the Crimea security base would be Wagner Security Company’s real headquarters in the future!
The ten-thousand-ton warship that would be bought would also be placed in the port of Crimea, not far from the security base.
Thanks to the cooperation of Meshkov, progress has been very smooth. The outline of the base has been formed, a number of people have been recruited, and various equipment and vehicles have been procured.
After Wang Ye and his team got off the plane, they saw a fleet of cars parked on the open apron.
Peterlo, along with a few others, were standing in front of the cars, waiting for them.
The fleet he brought was all a familiar make - Toyota Land Cruisers!
This car is not too pricey, is durable and easy to maintain and boasts of strong off-road capabilities. Therefore, it is quite popular worldwide, especially in places with poor road conditions.
Of course, the fact that this car is hyped up as a luxury car worth millions in a certain country is indeed quite hard to understand.
It just goes to emphasise how some countries have an abundant population, a lot of "fools with surplus money", who are easily duped!
.....
After a brief chat with Peterlo, Wang Ye and his team got into the cars.
The convoy sped out of the airport and continued south along a highway.
As the Black Sea Shipyard was not in the state capital but a city at the edge of the Black Sea, they needed to drive for a while before reaching it.
Sitting in the car, Peterlo took advantage of the time to report to Wang Ye about the Black Sea Shipyard.
"Boss, I’ve already carried out a survey at the shipyard. Apart from the Ulan cruiser, the shipyard also has some small warships, like frigates or destroyers, we could bundle them together and buy them off if we want ..." he said enthusiastically.
But Wang Ye didn’t understand any of this. He wasn’t even what you’d call a "military enthusiast" and hadn’t researched these warship models or anything.
So after listening to Peterlo’s explanation for a while, he didn’t quite understand.
But he did have his own solution.
He just smiled and said, "Our company definitely doesn’t need a large fleet, just enough will do. Firstly, we need to clarify the purpose of establishing a private fleet. One purpose is to display our military and actual strength to the outside world. Secondly, when we have overseas missions in the future, we can quickly transport our personnel and heavy equipment vehicles. So, our procurement of warships, the types and quantities, should all measure against these two objectives!"
