Becoming a Russian Oligarch After Rebirth
Chapter 1374 - 1087: The Path Never Considered

Chapter 1374: Chapter 1087: The Path Never Considered

Wang Ye’s plan was not that simple.

There were things that he had not even disclosed in front of Rilinov.

Whether Rossiyana could win the General Election or not was actually not important to Wang Ye.

He had done so much behind the scenes, and his real purpose was just to prevent someone from thinking about playing a "two-man show"...

Because if that happened, the balance in the political arena would be disrupted in a few years, and the living space of the Duma would be severely squeezed. Wang Ye could not accept that.

Hilarwick Group couldn’t dominate alone!

Wang Ye wanted to maintain his relatively detached position, which required balancing the power dynamics in the political arena.

For him, the weaker the person entering the Kremlin after he becomes the next Duma Speaker, the better. Only then could he continue to expand the Power of the Duma, until it resembled the United States Congress.

Rossiyana fits this role, and so did the former Medvedev. Either one winning would be acceptable.

But a Medvedev who completely received the support and recognition from the Kremlin, bringing together the entire Hilarwick Group, perhaps even becoming a "stand-in" for the current Kremlin, did not meet Wang Ye’s requirements.

Therefore, Wang Ye had to take action to strike at him.

After discussing the details with Rilinov, Wang Ye got up to take his leave; the rest was up to Rilinov.

Wang Ye was not worried that Rilinov would mess things up, as he had chosen Rilinov for this task after careful consideration.

First, Rilinov would not betray him!

It was Khodorkovsky, or in other terms, Wang Ye’s "rich uncle," who supported Rilinov’s return to the Duma and become a fairly powerful Vice Speaker!

Without Khodorkovsky’s support, relying on Rilinov alone definitely could not sustain the entire Faction.

And with the upcoming Duma Election, whether their Faction could maintain its current seats, or even advance further, still depended on Khodorkovsky’s financial support, and perhaps the media coverage facilitated by Wang Ye.

So, it was as though Rilinov’s Power and position were propped up by Khodorkovsky and Wang Ye, tying everyone’s interests together.

Second, Rilinov bore dissatisfaction towards the Hilarwick Group and would love to see their strength diminish. Now with a chance to deal with the Hilarwick Group, he naturally would not miss it.

...

Rilinov quickly took action.

He found an opportunity and casually went to Grezlov’s office.

It wasn’t awkward at all, as the two of them often visited each other’s offices to chat about work and other things.

Seeing Rilinov knocking and entering, Grezlov, who had a stern face, also showed a smile, warmly inviting Rilinov to sit and personally serving steaming Black tea and pastries.

Rilinov did not beat around the bush, and got straight to the point: "Old pal, I’ve been considering a big matter recently, and I came today to discuss it with you, to see if it’s feasible."

Grezlov chuckled, "A big matter? What big thing can the two of us possibly do, we have to consult with Misha about any big matter on Duma’s side, without his approval, no one can deal with anything significant. As for external matters, they are even more irrelevant to us."

It was clear that Grezlov was emotional...

Rilinov sighed, stressing his words: "Indeed... But it’s exactly for that reason, we need to energize ourselves, we can’t just sit around waiting for doom! From what I observe, there’s a rare opportunity now, it all depends on whether you dare to take a risk!"

Hearing his grave tone, Grezlov became serious too.

He frowned and asked: "A good opportunity? Taking a risk? Please clarify, I don’t quite understand what you mean."

"Haven’t you noticed, in this General Election, the two most Competitive candidates are Medvedev and Rossiyana. If... I mean if, the two of us join forces, combining the strength of our two Factions and announce our participation in the Election, what situation would arise?"

Rilinov leaned forward as he looked into Grezlov’s eyes, talking.

Upon hearing this, Grezlov really gasped...

His and Rilinov, joining forces to participate in the General Election!

That really was a path he had never considered before...

But you know, if they really did that, their Competitive force seemed outrageously high!

At the very least, surpassing Medvedev and Rossiyana wouldn’t be an issue.

But why would Rilinov, the old man, suddenly support him...

Thinking this, Grezlov suspiciously glanced at Rilinov and asked, "Why have you suddenly become interested in the General Election, and why did you think of roping me in to run together instead of going by yourself?"

Rilinov chuckled casually and responded candidly: "Because I have no chance of winning by myself! Honestly, even if you went to run solo, what do you think your chances would be? After careful consideration, I believe only if we both join hands, could we have a substantial advantage worth the gamble!"

Grezlov had to admit that Rilinov was right.

Indeed, although both he and Rilinov’s experience and reputation were stronger than Medvedev and Rossiyana’s, the problem was, both of them had strong support behind them.
