Chapter 128: Chapter 128 New Identity (Seeking Subscriptions, Seeking Monthly Tickets)_1

Wang Ye did not rush off to the market to soak in the festivities. It wasn’t that he did not want to, but because Khodorkovsky had called him over to Yukos’s headquarters for a discussion.

Obviously, this was about fulfilling the promise Khodorkovsky made to Wang Ye yesterday.

The position of President of the New Sun Group and the transfer of 20% of its shares!

Obviously, this matter was much more important than enjoying the festivities. Hence, Wang Ye promptly got dressed and drove to Yukos’s headquarters.

He didn’t take Angelina with him; after all, he was going for official business, there was no need to bring a woman along...

......

Yukos’s headquarters was located in the city center of Moscow, not far from the Red Square.

It took Wang Ye less than half an hour to drive from his home to Yukos’s headquarters.

Perhaps this building was newly built; it was distinctly modern compared to the old-fashioned structures surrounding it.

It was not specifically high, only around twenty floors, with a grey-white granite wall facade that made it look grand without being flamboyant.

Just based on its external appearance, it would be hard to imagine that this was the headquarters of Russia’s largest oil company!

After parking his car in the parking lot in front of the main gate, Wang Ye quickly walked towards the lobby entrance.

Here, one of Khodorkovsky’s assistants had been waiting. Seeing Wang Ye, he immediately stepped forward to greet him.

"Mr. Wang, please follow me, Mr. Hofchinco is waiting for you," the man in his thirties, Khodorkovsky’s assistant, courteously greeted.

He must have known why Wang Ye was there, hence his cordiality.

Wang Ye nodded and followed him into the building.

Although the exterior of the building seemed restrained, the interior was opulently furnished!

The shiny natural marble floor, the bright and spacious high-speed elevator, and all kinds of art pieces placed throughout the building were nothing like the old buildings typically found in Moscow!

Khodorkovsky’s office was located on the top floor of the building, this entire floor was...

Covered with plush wool carpets, crystal chandeliers glittering with magnificence, and walls entirely decorated with precious mahogany and deep-color real leather.

Compared to the typical Russian buildings Wang Ye had seen, like the dormitories at Friendship University and the residential building in Angelina’s hometown, this place was from another world!

Inside the spacious office, Khodorkovsky sat behind his desk, acknowledging as the assistant ushered Wang Ye in.

He rose from his seat, greeted Wang Ye with a smile, and gave him a hearty hug.

"Misha, come sit. We didn’t have time to talk properly due to the abruptness of events yesterday. I didn’t schedule any work today specifically so that we can discuss the matters that will follow," Khodorkovsky said.

The two moved to the seating area of the office. Tall and attractive women brought coffee, pastries, and a fruit platter.

The male assistant who had ushered Wang Ye in sat to one side, leaving only Wang Ye, Khodorkovsky, and the male assistant in the room.

Khodorkovsky nodded at the male assistant, who promptly understood and handed Wang Ye a large kraft paper envelope.

Wang Ye opened it to find two little booklets with reddish-brown covers embossed with a golden double-headed eagle emblem and two rows of Russian text.

They were Russian passports!

He was a bit puzzled and looked up at Khodorkovsky.

Khodorkovsky, smiling, said, "Have a look inside."

As Wang Ye opened one of the passports, he was taken aback as he saw his own face staring back at him!

The name on it read: "Mikhail Ivanofovsky Hodoricoff!"

Birthplace: Krasnoyarsk!

Confused, Wang Ye stared at the passports for quite some time, not understanding their implications.

But before he could ask for explanations, Khodorkovsky started to explain:

"Because I’m going to transfer the shares of the New Sun Group to you, and considering your plans for long-term development in Russia,

Having a foreign identity could potentially cause legal troubles, or even risks.

So, I took the liberty to prepare a Russian identity for you. These two here are your Russian passports, one for domestic use and the other for international

Don’t worry, these are actual identities, officially registered, and unproblematic from any angle."

Wang Ye didn’t know what to say, he tentatively asked, "What about President Kong..."

Big Head Kong was also Chinese, and he owned shares of New Sun Market, too.

Wang Ye didn’t really want multiple nationalities...

"Haha, you might not know this, but he became a Russian citizen long ago.

But your case won’t be the same as his. Now, you essentially have two identities.

You still retain your Chinese identity, still Wang Ye, an eighteen-year-old student studying abroad.

Meanwhile, in Russia, there is a Russian citizen named Mikhail, who is a distant relative of mine.

Due to our familial ties, I plan on transferring 20% of the New Sun Group shares to him and grooming him to become the President of the New Sun Group.

Do you understand now?"

Khodorkovsky chuckled.

Wang Ye was a sharp individual, so as Khodorkovsky explained, he understood right away!

This was as though he was granted a "brand new" Russian identity out of nothing!

Of course, with Khodorkovsky’s power, it was impossible for him to procure a fake identity; since he confirmed that this was legit, it must be free from any loopholes!

As long as he held this Russian passport, regardless of where he went, others would consider him to be a "genuine" Russian man...

Additionally, his Chinese identity was still intact; he was still a regular student studying abroad.

On the surface, there was no connection whatsoever between "Wang Ye" and the New Sun market, or even with Khodorkovsky.

But the President of the New Sun Market and Khodorkovsky’s distant relative was a Russian lad named "Mikhail"!

.........

Ordinary people might not understand why Khodorkovsky went through such trouble to procure a new identity for Wang Ye.

But Wang Ye could probably guess a little...

He didn’t hesitate, looked through both passports with a smile, and then placed them back into the envelope.

Looking up at Khodorkovsky, he said with a smile, "This is for the best. Now that I’m also a Russian citizen, it indeed makes things much more convenient in many ways. Thank you, Mr. Khodorkovsky."

With a guffaw, Khodorkovsky responded, "Haha, do not call me ’mister’ from now on. According to your new identity, you should address me as uncle."

Wang Ye awkwardly nodded, had he just gained a "cheap uncle"?

Nevertheless, it didn’t seem too bad...

After hesitating for a moment, he obediently said, "Uncle," which made Khodorkovsky laugh heartily. He looked quite pleased.

Perhaps he had arranged a new Russian identity for Wang Ye because of his plans to groom him.

After all, for a "foreigner" to achieve great feats in Russia is incredibly difficult!

But with the identity of a local, many potential issues can be avoided.

Khodorkovsky’s ambition was not small, merely being the richest man in Russia wasn’t enough for him...
