Becoming a Russian Oligarch After Rebirth
Chapter 126: This is Fate_1

Chapter 126: Chapter 126: This is Fate_1

The truth is, Wang Ye chose to stay because of his understanding of Big Head Kong’s experiences!

This man was well-known in the Chinese community in Moscow.

In his previous life, Wang Ye hadn’t kept track of when exactly things fell apart for Khodorkovsky or what the final outcome was, even after he returned to China.

But as far as he knew, Big Head Kong always seemed to have had a good life.

He had remained unscathed until Sun Market was eventually closed for good. Afterwards, he reportedly immigrated to Canada, and his whereabouts gradually faded from public knowledge.

So, Wang Ye figured that if he stuck around with Khodorkovsky, merely participating in the operation of Sun Market, he probably wouldn’t get tangled up in the affairs of the oil company...

Looking at it this way, the risk seemed quite manageable!

Moreover, how could anyone expect to rake in big bucks and rise to prominence without taking on a bit of risk?

As the saying goes, fortune favours the brave!

After bidding goodbye to Big Head Kong, Wang Ye drove Angelina home.

Even though they passed Alpha Hotel, he wasn’t in the mood to stop by the office.

The day had been incredibly adrenalizing!

All he wanted now was to return to his apartment and calm his nerves...

...

Wang Ye had left, but in Sun Market, news about "the shooting incident" had already begun to circulate like wildfire!

The management block at the Little Red Building was situated somewhat remotely, and given that the New Sun Market had not yet opened for business, there hadn’t been many people around when the incident occurred.

But the sound of "firecrackers", followed by the arrival of several police cars, ensured the news got out.

And with each retelling, the story seemed to morph into something else.

"Did you hear? The boss of New Sun got whacked!"

"Wow, just earlier today I was at the New Sun’s signing event in Section One, checking out the excitement. Suddenly, I heard gunshots. Initially, I thought someone was lighting firecrackers. I had no idea there were actual gunshots. This place is way too chaotic!"

"Don’t talk nonsense. The boss of New Sun is fine. I just came back from there. I saw one dead body, supposedly the gunman."

"Looks like New Sun has stepped on someone else’s turf. The retaliation was so fierce! Will New Sun Market survive?"...

These were the conversations among the Chinese businessmen.

As one could sense, they had just started taking an interest in New Sun Market because of the advertisements Wang Ye had placed.

But now, a shooting incident had occurred, which suddenly made everybody apprehensive, and people began questioning the future prospects of New Sun Market.

It was obvious that someone was trying to bring down New Sun Market, hitting hard!

Suppose they were to do business in the New Sun arena, would their safety be guaranteed?

They didn’t want to lose lives before even making any money!

Both Lao Wu and his fellow townsmen, Old Liu, had enthusiastically attended the so-called "New Sun Shoe District Contract Signing Ceremony" that morning.

Regrettably, neither the rumored Chinese magnate nor the real big boss behind New Sun had shown up.

The entire signing ceremony was hosted by the familiar Big Head Kong.

The whole process was cut short — after Big Head Kong came on stage and said a few words, it ended hastily.

This left many people bewildered; they didn’t understand what had happened.

However, when they returned to the old market, they heard many rumors, which helped them understand what had actually transpired...

"Lao Wu, can we still go to New Sun Market? It’s too damn dangerous!" said Old Liu, still shaken up by the ordeal.

Lao Wu, too, was taken aback. Things were really chaotic amongst the Russians!

How could something like this have happened?

Actually, they had heard about similar incidents in the past, but since those incidents hadn’t affected them directly, they had dismissed them from their thoughts.

This time, however, it hit too close to home!

"Maybe... we should just wait and see how New Sun reacts. If they can’t guarantee our safety, then who would dare to do business there?" suggested Lao Wu.

This statement could very well represent the sentiments of many.

Money is important for anyone living abroad, but safety comes first!

What good would wealth be, if one didn’t have the life to enjoy it...

......

As soon as Wang Ye got home, the phone rang. It was Liu Jun.

"Wang Ye, where are you? Are you alright? I heard something happened at New Sun!" His voice conveyed a sense of urgency.

Clearly, the news had reached him.

While others were unaware of what actually transpired at the signing ceremony or who the Chinese magnate that bought three streets at New Sun was, Liu Jun was well-informed...

So, when he heard the news, Liu Jun’s first reaction was to hope that Wang Ye was safe!

"Haha, I’m fine. There was a minor incident, but it’s all over now," Wang Ye replied, feigning nonchalance.

"What minor incident? I heard that people died! Just the other day, I was warning you about the complex situation in the market and advised you not to get involved. Look what happened today! I tell you, the ACT Group that backs the old market definitely won’t sit back and watch New Sun rise. I’m guessing today’s incident is linked to them," Liu Jun pressed on relentlessly with his questions.

In fact, Liu Jun’s analysis was spot on.

Although Khodorkovsky hadn’t elaborated, Wang Ye could roughly guess that today’s incident was most likely related to the ACT Group backing the old market!

Because by setting up the New Sun Market, Khodorkovsky had encroached on the ACT Group’s turf — the group that had the most reasonable cause to retaliate against him.

After a moment’s thought, Wang Ye decided not to hide anything from Liu Jun and gave him a brief account of the situation.

This included the fact that he’d saved Khodorkovsky’s life and that Khodorkovsky had invited him to join the New Sun Group as its president, granting him a 20 percent stake in the process...

Afterwards, there was a long silence on Liu Jun’s end. He was probably dumbfounded!

Even after living in Moscow for many years, he’d never personally experienced anything so outrageous!

What does it mean to have a charmed life?

What does escaping from the jaws of death mean?

Wang Ye’s experience on this day was the perfect illustration, wasn’t it?

Didn’t he just go to sign a contract for shop allotment?

Who would’ve thought he would suddenly find himself propelled to the role of president of the New Sun Group!

What was even more astonishing was the fact that he directly received a 20 percent stake. That was higher than what Big Head Kong had!

After a while, Liu Jun finally spoke.

"You... well, I’m at a loss for words! You really have ascended to the heavens in one step!"

He was extremely astonished.

What is the luck of the draw?

This was it!

Countless people have been hustling in Moscow for half a lifetime, trying hard to find business opportunities to make money, but with little success.

And yet Wang Ye...

Sigh, Liu Jun didn’t want to talk anymore. He felt like crying...

......

Wang Ye wasn’t too worried about the market because he knew that Khodorkovsky had had enough this time and would soon be making big moves.

Considering his resources, Wang Ye predicted the response would be significant...

But what Wang Ye hadn’t expected was for Khodorkovsky’s reaction to be so swift!

The very next morning, he struck a severe blow.

Not only did it damage the opponent, it greatly helped Wang Ye as well...
