Becoming a Russian Oligarch After Rebirth -
Chapter 1190 - 995: Dinner Together
Chapter 1190: Chapter 995: Dinner Together
As he was about to walk out of the VIP lounge, Vasily tentatively asked:
"Chairman, would you like to meet the actors who have been rehearsing these past few days? They’ve worked very hard; it might boost their morale!"
Wang Ye hesitated for a moment, then shook his head and said, "Let’s not meet now, we can do that after the final performance."
The main reason was that he was afraid of "scaring" Donia, since they had only just met, and Donia still thought of herself as a mere theatre staff member, a university graduate at that.
Just an hour had passed, and if he revealed himself in his "Big Shot" role, it would surely shock Donia...
This would not be good, not aligning with Wang Ye’s usual "low-key" style!
Hearing Wang Ye say this, Vasily did not insist any further, but simply led the way attentively, guiding Wang Ye out of the grand theatre.
The next item on the agenda was naturally to inspect the Ceremony site.
The ceremony was being held to celebrate the official inauguration of the pipeline, so naturally, it was also planned to be held at the oil field site, starting at the pipeline’s origin point.
Fortunately, it wasn’t far from Irkutsk, and after speeding out of the city, it took roughly an hour to reach the Ceremony site.
Irkutsk State truly deserved its reputation as a long-established industrial city; the road infrastructure within the state was quite good, albeit this was limited to the main roads and those leading from the city area to major factories, oil fields, and mining areas.
There were still many people busy at the Ceremony site, nothing much to see, really; Wang Ye and Vasily wandered around a bit, encouraged the personnel and then took a group photo.
That marked the end of the inspection work...
Next was to head back to the city; while on the way, Vasily obsequiously asked:
"Chairman, after this shall we go back to your hotel? Do you have any plans for the remainder of the day, or is there anything I can assist you with?"
Wang Ye waved his hand, smiling, "No need, there’s still plenty of time. After we get back to the city, I’ll stroll around by myself. You can go and do your own affairs."
It was indeed still early, just past four in the afternoon; Wang Ye felt like moving around a bit and didn’t want to be surrounded by local officials spouting niceties anymore.
He’d rather ask a girl out for coffee and dinner...
This was much better than dining with a bunch of old men, listening to their old-fashioned, insincere flattery!
...
The hotel Wang Ye was staying at was located in the city center and was the only five-star hotel in Irkutsk. To accommodate this ceremony, the state had cleared out the top two floors of the hotel.
The topmost floor was naturally reserved for Wang Ye and his entourage, while another floor was prepared for the Chinese delegation.
After escorting Wang Ye to his top-floor suite, Vasily said goodbye and left, repeatedly mentioning before leaving that if Wang Ye needed anything or had any issues, he could call him at any time.
Moreover, he had also arranged for state personnel to stay in the hotel, available at Wang Ye’s disposal.
After Vasily left, Wang Ye had his staff go back to their rooms to rest, while he himself freshened up and changed into a clean set of clothes. Then he went to the living room and picked up his phone.
He found "Donia" in his phone’s contacts and dialed her number.
After the call connected, and the ringtone sounded just twice, Donia’s voice came through.
"Hello, this is Donia."
Clearly, she didn’t know who was calling since during their encounter at the theatre, she had only given Wang Ye her phone number and didn’t have time to take his.
Wang Ye spoke with a smile, "Hello Donia, this is Mikhail. I just saw your rehearsal at the theatre."
Donia immediately remembered him, her voice turned cheerful, "Hi Misha, I was actually looking for you after the rehearsal, but didn’t see you around. Did you have to leave for some reason?"
"Yes, something came up suddenly, so I had to leave first. Now that I’m free, I was wondering if I could have the honour of having you join me for a cup of coffee and dinner," Wang Ye replied with a smile.
The time was approaching five o’clock, indeed time for dinner, though it was a bit early...
However, since they had just met, inviting her out for coffee at ten o’clock at night might have made Donia wary!
On the phone, Donia hesitated briefly but still accepted the invitation.
"Sure, I’m staying at the Lake Baikal Hotel next to the grand theatre; it’s also in the city center, quite busy around here, so let’s eat somewhere nearby."
While she accepted Wang Ye’s invitation, Donia was still cautious, proactively limiting the dinner location as it was safer under the hotel she was staying at in the city center, just in case.
The hotel Wang Ye was staying at was also in the city center, obviously not far from the other hotel.
He chuckled and agreed, saying he would arrive shortly and would pick a restaurant in advance, then call Donia with the specific dining location.
After hanging up the phone, Wang Ye put on his coat, took only a few security personnel, and left the hotel.
He unusually decided not to take a car but chose to walk there instead.
He had asked the hotel staff, and the Lake Baikal Hotel was only about three hundred meters away from where he was staying, just a straight walk west along the street in front of the hotel.
This street was a main thoroughfare in the center of Irkutsk, also the busiest part of the city. Even though heavy snow was falling, the street was still kept impeccably clean.
