Beastmen Love
Chapter 79: Mental Health

Chapter 79: Mental Health

Beau focused on the ship to control his anxiety but whenever Astri appears in his mind his heart starts to beat faster again because of what she said to him.

During the dinner, she didn’t see Beau and he usually eats with them.

"Where’s Beau?" Astri asks Hawa.

"He said he would patrol tonight." Hawa answers.

"I see. Let’s leave a plate ready for him."

"Sure."

She goes back to eat thinking if he’s all right.

In the morning, it was her time to prepare breakfast, and she saw that Beau’s plate was untouched on the table. She goes to where he sleeps and doesn’t find him, so she goes to prepare breakfast worried about him again.

"I think I shouldn’t have said anything to him. He must be angry." She thinks as she’s mincing fruits.

Wind pats on her head and face like saying it’s going to be alright.

Claud arrives and kisses her head, hugging her from behind, but he sensed she was worried about something since yesterday.

"I might not be with you as long as the others in body, but there’s no one here who knows your energy better than me. What’s worrying you?"

"Beau. I think he has a hard past and he’s depressive because of that. I think I said something to him that made him mad and he’s been out since then." She says in his mind.

He knows she talked to him so no one hears and takes wrong conclusions. He had to live in a temple for hundreds of years, so he’s not feeling so bad living in a ship. However, the others are more sensitive and they might question things unnecessarily or make things worse.

"Why do you think he’s depressive?" Claud asks in her mind.

"He does the same I used to do. Focus on work or hobbies and forget about myself. And whenever I thought about me, my feelings, or my past I locked myself somewhere no one could find me."

"You were like that..?"

"I was."

"And why do you think he’s mad at you?" He asks.

"For remembering what he doesn’t want to remember. I’ll apologize later. I hope he’s at least eating out there."

"He knows he needs strength to protect you. He will eat. Now, how about we go to the storage room and.." He says and passes his hands on her belly and breasts.

She smiles, but before she says anything the knife slips from her hand, and when she tries to hold it and not let it fall on the ground, she grabs the blade, cutting her right palm and spilling blood on the table.

"Astri! .. It’s so deep!" Claud says worried after checking the cut.

She covers it with a cloth and he presses it to stop the bleeding.

"Damn.. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have tried to hold it." She bites her lips feeling the pain.

"No. I shouldn’t have distracted you while you were dealing with a knife."

They check the cut again and it’s very deep.

"It needs to be stitched. Or else it won’t ever heal fine." She says.

They hear running steps and soon Wayde carrying Yuki, Lee, Zin, and Cyprian arrive and the boys arrive right after.

"What happened? We smelled Astri’s blood." Zin asks.

"I had cut myself with the knife. It was an accident." Astri answers.

They check the cut and they gasp.

"Zin, can you take the medical tools?.. I hate to say it but this needs stitches.." Claud says painfully.

The others get shocked and sad. In a world where there’s no anesthesia and stitching wounds feel like torture, they never wanted to watch their spouse suffer this way.

"Never again will you use a knife! Can you understand?!" Lee orders Astri.

She chuckles.

"Won’t you miss the food I make for all of you?" She asks.

"Then we will use the knife and you will just cook." Wayde says.

After Zin went to take the medical kit, they sat around the table to watch. Claud takes deep breaths because he hates to make her feel more pain.

They hate even more seeing her handling the pain so quietly because it makes them remember she had to learn to live with the pain all of her life.

The Aquaterram Guardians arrive for breakfast, besides Beau, and they see Claud stitching Astri and she barely presses her eyes to express any pain. They asked what happened and she explained again and told them to not worry.

"Where’s Beau?" She asks.

"He said he ate outside." Hawa answers.

She nods and sighs internally.

Astri’s spouses didn’t let her finish breakfast or eat by herself and made her stay down to rest and not use her hand.

On the next day during dinner, no one saw Beau again.

"Don’t worry about him, milady. He’s been like that since I met him." Ryan says.

She sighs annoyed and takes a deep breath.

"Beau?" She talks out loud, but she’s talking in his mind.

"Yes, milady?" He’s taken by surprise to hear her voice in his mind again.

"Come have dinner." She says.

Now the others can see that she’s actually talking to him.

"I can eat later.."

"I’m not asking. Come or I’ll go there and get you. Am I clear?"

The others are quiet, sensing her patience is affected that day somehow. After several moments Beau arrives quietly, she puts the dinner on the table with her good hand.

"Eat." She says.

"I can eat later." He tries to say.

"I didn’t see you eating today, captain." Ryan softly says and Beau sighs angrily.

"Eat. I’m the only female that can beat up a male without even using my powers. If you don’t clean this plate I’ll beat up your ass." She speaks.

The Aquaterran Guardians are shocked by the way she spoke with Beau. Beau sits and starts to eat obediently.

He smells blood and sees her bandaged hand with blood on the bandage.

"What happened?" He asks worried.

"An accident. I’ll be fine."

Wayde holds her good hand and feels she’s warmer than usual. Claud also checks her temperature.

"Let’s go, love. You have a fever. You need to rest. Zin, can you make a tea with Sunset Weed, Lime, and Black Pepper?" Claud says.

Zin nods in response. Her other mates go with her, worried about her health. Zin takes the herbs to boil in a pot while the Aquaterra Guardians and Mermen watch.

"Did you make the Goddess mad, Captain?" Hawa asks Beau.

"Not that I know... I’m not sure." Beau answers.

"She looked angry." Ryan says.

"She wasn’t. Her patience is a bit affected because of the wound pain and fever. She was just worried about him and, apparently, Beau would only come if she acted more harshly. Astri is only like that when it’s needed. I met her when her mate died, she had drowned and had a broken arm. She was sweet with me all the time." Zin speaks.

"So she doesn’t like the way you treat her, Captain. You need to learn how to treat others better."

Beau doesn’t answer and eats silently. He knows he’s avoiding her but he didn’t know she would notice.

"Is it true? She can beat up a male?" Hawa asks Zin.

"Yes. Females don’t have marks, but if she had I think she would have at least 30 with her intelligence and techniques." Zin proudly says.

"Why she’s capable of fighting? Is it because she lived by herself as an orphan? She told us that." Ryan asks.

"Yes." Zin nods.

"That’s amazing and sad at the same time". Koa says.

Instead of Zin, they stay in an awkward silence. Zin is only focused on finishing Astri’s medicine and going back to staying next to her. When her medicine is ready he takes it to her right away.

Naturally, being sick made all of Astri’s spouses very worried about her health. They’re even more concerned because she acts as if it’s something normal, saying she will be fine in no time.

She lets them take care of her. She can’t blame them for being afraid of losing her so much since they were raised knowing females are weaker and more sensitive.

They know she’s stronger than normal females but they take this chance to be closer to her.

The next two days she barely leaves the bedroom until they can see that the stitches can be removed from her cut and she has no fever.

On those next two days Beau is still having a hard time not thinking about what she said, and about her too, fearing she’s angry at him.

"I thought you were the captain. Why are you here?" Koa asks, swimming next to Beau as a whale.

As usual, he doesn’t answer.

"Did you treat the Goddess that badly and she kicked you out?" Koa sneers.

Beau hits Koa with his right fin.

"Ouch! That’s why she doesn’t like you!" Koa swims away.

Beau sighs sadly after Koa leaves him alone.

"Does she really hate me?" He asks himself.
