Chapter 236: The Diary

Everyone was listening to Claud read the diary Astri had written while she was traveling on the ship.

"I hope all of you are fine. When I left, Aurora and Albus were so young. I can’t hear Nature entirely now. When I asked if Aurora and Albus were fine, Nature surrounded me with a soft wind. I believe that they’re fine, then. I’m sure Albus is turning handsome like his father." Claud reads, and Lee smiles. "Aurora and Albus, did you know that when I met your father, I didn’t know much about the culture of beastmen? I didn’t know I was a Pegasus. Wayde, Dieg, and I only imagined I was some kind of bird because they used to say I smelled a little like a bird. When I met your father, he tricked me by tying his feather on my hair, knowing I didn’t have any idea of the meaning behind it."

"Father! I can’t believe you did that!" Elias says seriously, but at the same time laughing at Lee.

Lee shrugs his shoulders.

"I was crazy for her, and I wanted to let everyone know that. Especially males." Lee says.

"Of course, I fell in love with him. He was a jealous brat, but he is also a mighty handsome, kind-hearted, flashy, and reliable Eagle. I hope you become like him one day, but with your own personalities. I miss all of you so much. I lost the feather Lee gave me when I last shifted into my Pegasus form. Normally, I would remove all my spouse tokens before shifting to not losing them. Last time I didn’t have time and I lost Lee’s feather, Tyr’s collar, and Koa’s bracelet. I made hair accessories for Albus and Aurora, with my feathers, the way it was your father’s." Claud reads.

Wayde pulls from the gift bag two hair accessories for Albus and Aurora, both had the tags with their names and the day of the diary.

"It’s so pretty!" Aurora happily says, looking at her hair accessory that Astri tied in her hair. "Thank you, mom!" She hugs Astri.

"Thank you, mom. But I won’t give it to another female when I’m of age." Albus says, making everyone laugh at his possessiveness.

"Just like your father already." Zin says.

Claud kept reading, and everyone was listening carefully, wanting to know how her mother’s days were while she was away from them. They could notice that she tried to have the best days the way she could, but every day she would remember them and miss them. On day three, she made hair accessories for Yuki, and skirt accessories for Elias and Kai.

"I don’t know how much you have grown, so I made them adjustable. I hope you like it. You want to know a secret? Wayde scared the crap out of me because he asked me to be his spouse without even knowing my name." Claud says, and they laugh. "I always wanted to pass unnoticed everywhere I went. Didn’t want to call attention. And your father was for sure desired by all females. Handsome, kind, good listener, good adviser, strong.. He was made to fall in love easily. Ana was mad crazy for him. At another time, I can tell what she did to try to convince him to become her spouse. He broke and threw away from me the shackles of mistrust, of never believing in love, so easily.. I think it was the fluffy fur of his beast form. Impossible not to love it."

"I knew you loved it from the first time I slept next to you." Wayde says to her with a smirk.

"You’re right. It’s so good." Astri admits.

Yuki, Elias, and Kai wore their gifts proudly. Claud kept reading the diary, it was like the best story ever, and none was getting sleepy.

"Day 5 - Hello, my loves! Yesterday night, Shinkou and I finally became spouses officially. I’m sure you will like him even more knowing that he’s doing everything to keep me smiling and happy. Sometimes I think it’s unfair to him that he does everything to see me happy, and I’m not entirely happy because I don’t have you. But what I can say is that if I can hold on to something good, and that I didn’t go crazy, it was because of him. Kenzou, too. Shinkou is a Fox, as I already told you, and he’s also proof that people can always choose to be good if they are given the chance. I chose Shinkou to sell my salt because he had the right connections, and people wouldn’t ask him where he got the salt from. I felt bad about it, but I didn’t want to risk being known by the Shogun or Emperor, and to get a ship, I needed gems. However, not even having the capacity of reading minds I could notice he only used for his own advantage how people see him, but deep inside he was always good. I saw myself in him sometimes. Back when I was in the other world, people used to see me as a problem, and I used that to get what I needed to survive. Anyways! I’m happy today. Here’s a drawing of me when I first saw Shinkou’s beast form:" Claud reads, and then turns the diary for everyone to see a drawing of Shinkou’s beast form and Astri drooling at him, with stars in her eyes, and imagining herself hugging his fluffy tail.

"Awn.. How sweet. I want to see father Shinkou’s beast form. Reigan is so cute, and his tail is so fluffy. I can imagine father Shinkou’s." Yuki smiles, playing with Reigan on her lap.

"Did you let mom sleep hugging your beast form like father Wayde?" Hopin jokes, asking Shinkou.

"I did. Some nights were very cold, and I had to protect her from the weather. Nature was making it less cold, but I was worried either way. I noticed she liked my fur, too." Shinkou tells.

"Good to know. Next time I sleep next to her, I’ll sleep in my beast form so she hugs me all night." Tyr says.

"Me too." Dieg smiles.

"And the rest of us will sleep where?" Zin asks.

"You can find out."

Zin rolls his eyes, thinking about the hard time of sharing a bed with a lion or a wolf.

Claud keeps on reading some more Chapters; There was a day that Shinkou and Kenzou were so bored, that she had to make a song of the situation they were living but trying to see the good sides of it somehow, and that she tied Kenzou’s foot and had spin him on the master mast. Everyone laughed at the drawing so much. Kenzou laughed, too. He can’t deny it was fun.

"Day 67- Hello, my loves! Today, I found out that I’m pregnant. Don’t worry, we didn’t discover the nausea at first. It was because Biggie had brought a whale to me, asking if I wanted to eat it, can you believe it? When I saw the whale, I instantly remembered Beau, and then Koa, and the children watching Koa swimming on the front of the Royal Aquaterra Ship, so I started to cry like a hungry baby." Now, Lee is reading, giving a break to Claud, and everyone laughs together. "This is me crying, making everyone worried:"

Lee shows the drawing to everyone of her crying like a baby. Shinkou and Kenzou worried on her sides, and troubled tentacles with a dialog balloon directed to Biggie saying "I’m sorryyy!"

Everyone laughed louder.

"When Kenzou asked why I was crying so much, I knew that I could only be pregnant. Later, smelling the fish just confirmed it because the nausea started. So, we have an Ookitsune or more coming! Since I started throwing up everything I was eating, I was forbidden to do the rest of my chores. So I decided to sew things for our little fox or foxes. Talk to you tomorrow!" Lee reads.

"You always get a lot of nausea when you’re pregnant." Wayde says, smiling at Astri.

"I’ve seen only two of your pregnancies, and on both you were very nauseated indeed." Kangki says and kisses her temple.

It was his turn to be with her, so his arms and hands were always touching her somehow.

"I can’t tell my body how to behave to that." She says.

As they kept reading the diary, all of them got gifts. Even Skalven, Bono, Dante, Xzan. Shung and Fraz got gifts, but she said she had already given them.

"Day 158.. What? Wasn’t 156 before?" Claud asks, and then checks if he jumped a page.

"It’s right. I didn’t write on day 157. If you read, you will understand why." Astri says.

"Day 158 - Hello, my loves! I couldn’t write yesterday. I normally write before sleeping, but we found an island yesterday to spend some days because I was close to my due date. Right after we had set camp, I went into labor." Claud says, and everyone made sounds of understanding why she didn’t write. "We now have a male fox in the family! His name is Reigan, which means ’Mystic Sight’. We decided to call him like this because his fur is a mix of my hair color and Shinkou’s, turning out so beautiful, almost magical! I wish all of you were here. Shinkou and Kenzou held my hands until the end, but I missed all of you so much today... All of you always did everything to be with me when I was in labor. I felt so sad that you couldn’t see Reigan being born. I just hope that this can be the last pregnancy that we won’t be together. It’s probably a postpartum thing, but for the first time, I’m feeling guilty for having done what I did. At the same time, I know there was nothing else I could do to protect you, I also feel angry with myself for not being capable of handling Baal breaking my soul. I’m happy and grateful for meeting an amazing realm like Tsukihina, meeting Shinkou, who’s nothing but an amazing spouse, and Kenzou, whom I see as a father, but at the same time I want to be with you so much I’m angry. I want you to see how beautiful and healthy Reigan is.." Claud reads, his voice failing sometimes because he wants to cry.

Everyone had tears in their eyes, for seeing how fragile Astri also feels sometimes. That even though she’s a Goddess, she also has feelings like everyone else, and that she battled with herself to not fall into depression for what happened.
