Chapter 128: What Now?

She hugs Wayde’s arm.

"Let’s go home and tell the others what you found out. Hearing from you might make them realize things too."

He nods, smiling and all of them start to walk back home.

As they were walking through the village, the three males who were working on rebuilding the wall of the bedroom went to them holding flowers still with their roots. Wayde’s aura is tangible, and every around can sense that. Astri taps on his arm softly, telling him that everything is fine and to calm down.

"We noticed you like flowers, Miss Astri." One of the bears says.

The two bears are visibly larger in human form, and their hairs are brown, thick, and short. The two bears and leopard are clearly interested in Astri.

"We wanted to appreciate the food and kindness you had given us these last days." The leopard says.

"What beautiful flowers. Thank you very much. I’ll gladly accept it, but know that this doesn’t mean I’m accepting you as spouses, all right?" She says taking the flowers.

"We know it." The other bear says.

"We have few marks compared to your spouses. I have only three." The leopard says.

Males always think that the more marks they have, the more females will desire them. But it’s something she doesn’t care about at all.

"I don’t care about marks. I just can’t handle any more males. You’re amazing. I’m sure you will find great females."

They smile happily after being complimented by her. She noticed that it looked like they only heard the part that they were good males.

"Can we become your guards too? We can be trained. We’re being trained by Leader Lee’s soldiers, and we have grown marks fast." One of the bears says.

"Yes. I’m sure that being trained by your guards will make us grow marks fast." The leopard excitedly says.

"You three are young and have three marks each. That’s amazing already. Galion here it’s the leader of the guards, it’s up to him to accept you." Astri says and points at Galion. "I trust him with our safety. What do you think, Galion?"

"As more guards the best. The main question would be: Will they handle my training?" Galion speaks, crossing his arms.

"Yes! We can!" They answer matter-of-factly.

Galion looks at Astri, then at Wayde.

"Being her guard is not the same as being in the line to become her spouse. You need to understand that the probability of that to happen is almost none." Saul explains to them.

"All of us decided to even abdicate having mates just to protect her and her children since she’s the spouse of our leaders. If you’re up to that, I’m open to having new guards." Galion says.

"Yes. I still want to become her guard." The leopard answers and the others nod in response too.

"All right. Come with us then." Galion speaks.

They keep walking back home and the new guards are almost swinging their tails happily like puppies.

"Hope you still be this happy after starting to train with us." Saul smirks at them.

The other guards laugh too.

When they arrived at the front garden, Astri’s other spouses were waiting for them watching the kids playing together. Claud had Atlas on his lap as he sat on the bench under the tree. Cyprian was also sitting on the bench while the others were sitting on the ground.

When they see her, they jump up to go after her. They stop and stare at the three new males behind them, who also get a little afraid of being stared at by the strongest males of all tribes from the United Tribes.

"What are those looks?" Astri asks, then looks at the new guards. "Ah. They’re Galion’s new pupils. Welcome them with a good heart, the same way you welcomed the other guards."

They take a relieved breath, making her giggle and roll her eyes. Her smile made them smile too, relieved that she didn’t look mad anymore.

"Since you were the ones who gave me these flowers, can you help me plant them?" Astri asks the new guards.

They follow her happily and that makes her spouses get confused again, not sure if she’s mad or not. They watch those unmated males happily help her put the flowers in the garden with auras that could kill and bury them ten feet underground.

When they’re done, Astri admires the flowers a little and then waters them.

"Thank you, boys. Good luck with your training."

They nod with big smiles in response.

"Let’s go, loves? Wayde has news to tell you." Astri says, walking away.

Her spouses follow her tightly. She sits down on the couch and calls for Yuki, who goes happily to her mother’s arms.

"Why did you accept those gifts?" Lee asks.

"We can give you anything you want." Tyr says.

"I don’t know. As I was watching, you’re killing yourselves slowly." She shrugs her shoulders.

Their breath caught in their throats, now sure she was mad.

"I’m sorry, Astri. We just want to be more powerful to protect you and our family." Cyprian says and the others confirm.

"We promise you we won’t train like that anymore." Koa speaks, kneeling next to her.

She smiles and nods.

"All right. Thank you. I accepted the gifts because those three have good energy to be guards. Their energies are loyal and truthful. Let’s all treat them well so they become good guards." She says. Now they breathed more relieved, understanding what she was doing. "I love you. I wouldn’t do this just to hurt. I thought you knew I’m not this kind of female." She pouts.

They chuckle, then rush to get the chance to hug her. Beau, Koa, and Tyr were the first ones.

Wayde tells them about him finding part of his powers and all of them are impressed by it. It’s a beneficial and powerful skill to talk to plants and animals.

"Koa, Beau, Cyprian, and Claud are ancient beasts. So they somehow have some kind of connection with Nature already. Koa talks to fishes like Wayde can talk to land animals. Beau can use the vibrations of the water to know where others are, that is called sonar, but he can use it not only inside the water. Cyprian breathes fire. Claud is the most connected being an unicorn. I’m sure you learned that naturally and not forcing it. Don’t worry. We will find out when it’s time." She tells them.

They decide to trust her words and observe their own energies instead of getting stronger just physically. Now they understand that they need to be closer to her to find their powers.

Kangki, living one day after the other inside his cave. He got what he wanted for hundreds of years. Now he has an eternal life where he doesn’t need to absorb energies from several Monsters or Beastmen to survive.

He just didn’t think about what to do once he had an eternal life. Days are boring now, and when the boredom is too much to handle he remembers Astri and her different lifestyle. Watching her ignites his curiosity and makes him want to know more things.

He doesn’t want bigger territories. Monster Kings only want to have more Monsters to absorb, but now Kangki doesn’t need it anymore. That is making him have feelings he never had: frustration, sadness, boredom, solitude. Even a tigress cub could feel he’s not well, and that is taking his sleep away.

Once he decided to make a new bed. He watched Astri sewing and decided to do the same. When he finished it, he tried it and enjoyed it very much, lying down and relaxing.

While he is relaxing, he feels Astri’s presence.

"New bed? That looks good." She says.

He smiles, then taps on his side for her to stay with him. She sits on his side and lies down as he asked her.

"Want me to come get you so you can feel it properly?" He smirks, and she giggles.

"Your sense of humor is amazing."

"You’re affecting me too much."

"I know." She laughs, then sighs, taking her breath back. "Nature told me where my next destination is."

He looks at her and has mixed feelings about this.

"Is it far?"

"Yes, very much. However, I won’t need to go there so soon. I think we will have time to build our other castle next to the sea and enjoy it for several days. We might leave in more than a hundred days."

"Hum.. Another Monster King?" He asks.

"No. At least I don’t think so."

"Your spouses are too weak to guard you inside of your castle. They will end up losing you outside." He bitterly says.

"They’re getting stronger day by day. Zin found his powers. And Wayde too. Soon all of them will have powers of Nature like Dieg and Claud."

"Like I cared about them." He clicks his tongue.

"And what do you care about?"

He doesn’t answer, because he doesn’t want to answer that she is what he cares about.

"Well, I came to tell you this and check your handsome face. Still handsome." She sits down, and then she looks around. "You know where to find me." She blinks an eye.

"Wait." He stops her before she leaves. He sits down again and then tries to hold her hands and feel them. "What should I do now?"

"What do you mean?" She asks in confusion.

"Since I can remember all I thought about was finding energies to keep on living.." He’s a little ashamed to admit. "Forget it." He says after he sees her smiling at him.

"I understand. Why do you think that I’m always projecting something?"

That took his attention to make him look at her again.

"Life without things to do, to learn, is nothing. Maybe you need to find a new project. Or a new meaning for your life since you already accomplished the eternal life you always wanted."

She taps his head softly, but her hand goes through him as usual. She leaves him in deep thoughts.
