“Just above average?” Tianming was taken aback. Totemancers in the Upper Star Ruin were even more formidable than he had imagined.

“What kind of look is that? I’ve only inherited a single drop of imperator cosmic god blood. I just can’t handle it all at once right now! My upper limit’s beyond your imagination. Just admit defeat, Upper Star Ruin’s Number Two Genius!” Wudi boldly laughed.

Tianming rolled his eyes. His godfather's competition over who was the greater genius had now extended all the way to the Upper Star Ruin. And they hadn’t even gone there yet!

“By the way, since we’re of the flameyellow divinities, it can’t just be a totem transformation, right? Uncle Taixu?” Tianming looked over.

“Get ready to be blown away in awe!” Wudi chuckled.

The gold-and-red flames gradually dispersed, revealing a lifebound beast that wasn’t particularly large. It still retained the shape of the blood-colored great peng from before, but its details had drastically changed. Its entire body was now covered in gold and red feathers that were inscribed with infinite fiery patterns. Its blazing eyes radiated an eternal brilliance, and its bloodline power was now strong enough to shake even Ying Huo and the others.

“Brother, transform!” Wudi commanded, upon which the golden great peng transformed into a massive gold-and-red fiery fish.

“Still a kunpeng?” Its racial ability allowed it to switch between a kun fish and a peng bird.

Just as Tianming made his comment, it shifted into a golden dragon instead. Then it continued cycling through new shapes as it became a crimson dragon, a flaming phoenix, a flaming pixiu beast, a flaming shenwu tortoise, and so on.

Tianming was shocked to see that the kunpeng that’d had access to two forms now had a grand total of ten. Even more startling, amidst its transformations, he vaguely sensed multiple energy cores, as if Uncle Taixu was an amalgamation of dozens of lifebound beasts.

It far surpassed any other lifebound beast in number of astrons and cosmoforce both.

“A 30-source beast?!” Tianming was stunned. It was double what Luori Tianlian’s beast had.

“It’s called a cosmic crest beast, possessing thirty-fold power! The faces on their bodies are crests that each represent another fold of power. Every lifebound beast in the Upper Star Ruin is a cosmic crest beast. While each beastmaster only has one lifebound beast, every single one is exceptionally powerful,” Wudi marveled.

“How do you know that?” Tianming asked.

“When I fused with the cosmic god blood, the ancestor told me. After that, he dissipated, entrusting me with a great mission! From today onward, my fate is mine, not heaven's!” Wudi declared.

Tianming considered it and said, “Wait a minute! If 30-crest cosmic crest beasts have thirty times the power of their beastmaster, doesn’t that mean their lifebound beasts are far stronger than they are?” Myriadpath Valley’s valley lord, Qitian Xiao, had a tensource beast that was noticeably stronger than him. If the amplification was increased to thirty times, could man and beast even fight together?

“Exactly! It’s obvious that the beast is stronger than the person. That’s why they’re called a beastmaster. That’s the true nature of beastmasters: to concentrate all their power into their lifebound beasts!” Wudi explained.

“Got it!” Tianming finally understood. That was the terrifying aspect of the flameyellow divinities. For other beastmasters, the stronger their beasts grew, the more they fell behind. But the flameyellow divinities combined totems with lifebound beasts, so both man and beast were mighty.

Pure totemancers and specters were single-body entities. As for the wonderians, they were innately less talented, so they resorted to cheating. Two people shared one body and insisted on being counted as one entity in order to gain an unfair advantage in competitions.

Only the flameyellow divinities were perfect. Though they lacked the specters’ physical prowess, having both totems and lifebound beasts was good enough.

The Original Sin Pool had belonged to the flameyellow divinities, which meant the Eightpart Pantheons’s cosmic god blood was locked inside. If it was locked, then surely it had a purpose, right?
