Chapter 389 - The Final Trait

As Lu Ran continued to chat with the old president, he rode Baby Cloud toward Green Sea City. He arrived home just as he finished his call.

"Ugh, finally!" Lu Ran groaned as he threw himself onto his bed.

At the same time, he released his familiars from their contract cards. Captain Doofus, Sudden Death King, and Dark Crow appeared with a flash and exchanged looks of glee.

We’re home!

The three of them were clearly very attached to this place.

"You three can go play. Y’all have been working hard this month."

"Long live the king!" Dark Crow exclaimed.

Sudden Death King gave Dark Crow a side eye before turning away. Captain Doofus picked up the sword spirit and swordgrass before dashing off to the backyard.

"Plip! Plip!" Baby Cloud finally piped up after it was done panting by the window.

"Yes, I know you’ve been working the hardest," Lu Ran comforted.

His familiars each worked hard in their own way. Baby Cloud put in a lot of physical labor by carrying Lu Ran back and forth for so long. Captain Doofus and the others expended most of their efforts in training.

Captain Doofus specifically spent a lot of time teaching Sword Domain to his kin. After a month, the sword spirit and swordgrass had already managed to form a domain shell thanks to its tutelage. Although they lacked power, they were still at least able to form a domain. All they needed was a skill to use as the domain core.

Since the two kin were able to make so much progress, Sudden Death King and Dark Crow improved by leaps and bounds as well. Both were also able to comprehend their own domains.

Sudden Death King comprehended its domain after eating a dish Lu Ran made from the heart of the Ape God. When Dark Crow received the power of the Evil God, it used that as the basis for its domain.

Both domains were as unique as they were powerful, each on par with Captain Doofus’s. The two could be considered to have undergone a qualitative change. The only unfortunate thing was that Lu Ran had yet to encounter an opponent whom he needed to use a domain against. He had been too busy experimenting with them to see the domains in action.

He met Death Gun but wasn’t able to challenge him to a fight since he was there under a false identity. Otherwise, he would’ve screwed up his chance at getting the Mechanical familiar.

Right now, the only one that had yet to master a domain was Baby Cloud, but it was in a bit of a unique situation so Lu Ran didn’t put any pressure on it.

"Sister Flower!"

Whether any of his familiars comprehended a domain was no longer important. His attention was now focused on Six-Path Flower.

"Let's decide what to pick for your last trait. We’ll let the Divine Deer know once we've made a decision so it can help you evolve.”

"Yeah," Six-Path Flower agreed as it looked at the various trophies Lu Ran had on the wall for cricket fighting and dog sport competitions.

"Ok, forget it. I'll look into it myself."

Six-Path Flower’s attention soon drifted onto his honor roll certificates and awards for animal rescue.

Does it want to evolve or not?

Lu Ran turned his attention to the reports he received from the Flood Dragon Squad.

Manager Ying had already given him the short version. The Flood Dragon Squad wanted to repay Lu Ran’s kindness, so of the level 1 Legendary realms they cleared, they focused on the ones that dropped resources that would be useful for him. Although they were clearing those realms as a team, they would still occasionally get powerful traits.

Lu Bing's report stated that they found three Unique traits. No one on the squad had any use for them, so they wanted him to make a decision.

"Let's see our luck," Lu Ran said to himself as he held a Lucky Flower in his mouth.

[Description: Allows the user to condense an explosive ball of lightning. The explosion can cause devastating AOE damage as well as inflict damage to the soul.]

The lightning was definitely unique. Based on the description, it was an offensive-type skill. The Flood Dragon Squad specifically chose a Lightning-attribute secret realm for Sudden Death King. Unfortunately, Lu Ran wasn’t planning to have Sudden Death King continue building its Lightning attribute. Sudden Death King wasn’t lacking in offensive skills either.

Red Lightning was good enough for attacking, and as a defense-focused familiar, offensive skills weren’t really a priority. However, Sudden Death King just reached level 50. It was missing a trait, and so was Captain Doofus. Lu Ran realized that he needed to look for more than just the one trait for Six-Path Flower.

[Description: Allows the user to create tornadoes infused with Dragon energy. The tornadoes can be shaped into dragons to cause even greater destruction.]

This trait made Lu Ran contemplate for a moment.

Is this meant for Baby Cloud since it’s a weather-type trait? It’s definitely not for Captain Doofus.Well, no matter who it’s for, it looks kind of useless.

The trait basically gave a Wind-attribute familiar Dragon intent formation. It might be a big help for ordinary beastmasters, but not so much for Lu Ran. As he expected, the squad wasn’t able to find any good traits. He decided to leave these for the squad members.

"Potty mouth!" Six-Paths Flower rebuked. "For shame, you’re an honor roll student!"

"This trait is just too awesome!" Lu Ran explained as he intently stared at his phone.

Lu Bing: Hi, Village Chief! We think this trait is a good fit for Dark Crow since it specializes in legion-type skills. It will need a territory to house all of its followers, right? Most people wouldn’t have a use for it since they don’t stay and fight in one place all the time. Your future legion, on the other hand, will need to have a base and a radius of operations. What do you think?

"It would be wasted on Dark Crow." Lu Ran shook his head.

"Dark Crow would love its own turf, but it doesn’t stay in one place either. She’s right in that it’s not much use for most people, but this might be exactly what Six-Paths Flower needs.

"I remember you told me that you wanted to build a reincarnation system that encompassed the Beastmaster Empire. It involved creating an underworld and farming faith to ascend to the Legendary rank, right?

"The reason why you didn’t try it on the Stellar Moon Continent was because such a thing wouldn’t be tolerated by the rules of the world, and there are too many eyes watching. Now that you are on Blue Planet, none of that applies anymore. This trait fits perfectly with that plan since your reincarnation system will be based in a fixed location.

“We can even work together on this. I will build a Beastmaster Empire on Blue Planet, and you can be the empire’s guardian beast again. In exchange, you can use the empire to pilot your reincarnation system!"

Six-Paths Flower grabbed the phone and looked over the trait information.

"This trait is definitely amazing. I hid in the empire for so long that I never had a chance to develop new abilities. This will contribute to my plan nicely. Although I never saw the Divine Tree personally, it should have had an ability similar to this one. It connects the entire world through its roots and takes the entire continent as its territory. This must have been the root of its power. I should learn from its example. Compared to the Time attribute, this is clearly the better choice."

Six-Paths Flower was quite satisfied with the trait.

"Alright, then this is it." Lu Ran smiled and started to choose a site for his Beastmaster Empire.

First of all, it couldn’t be in Xia. Fighting the government would be an uphill battle. It couldn’t be in any other country either, since the same issue applies. This meant that he needed to build it somewhere in the wilderness. Those areas were typically rich in natural resources! After the spiritual energy revival, the humans lost sovereignty over the wilderness, so as long as Lu Ran defeated the beasts occupying the land, he could crown himself king.

"How about here?" Lu Ran pointed to somewhere on a world map.

"The Amazon rainforest makes up half of the world's rainforest and 20% of all forests in general. Besides being the largest, it is also the world’s most biodiverse rainforest in the world. It’s been nicknamed the ‘planet’s lungs.’ The rainforest spans eight countries, and due to the spiritual energy revival, it’s overcrowded with powerful creatures. Lu Ran smiled and made a call to Manager Ying.

"Manager Ying, I want all available information on the Amazon rainforest in the next three minutes!"
