Chapter 939: Chapter 937: Promised Wall
Sally teleported back to her own tent and began cleaning her wound.
The 24th generation looked at the blood on the corner of Yase’s lips, suddenly drew closer, and leaned down almost indulgently to lick his lips, "The taste is so good! I told you, as soon as she bleeds, she is mine!"
’Boom—’ It sounded like a fist hitting a sandbag, "You are using the lifeblood of the Abel Clan to provoke me!"
"Hehe, so what if I am!" The 24th’s face was pale, but his smile was even more dazzling, revealing a kind of sinister and crazy charm.
...
Sally, following her memory, ascended the staircase to the third floor.
A tightly closed black metal door came into view—it was the 24th’s room.
She walked over to it and said to Xiaomei, "Open it."
’Cre-eak—’ The door opened.
Sally entered.
In the spotlessly clean room, the black bed was covered with fluffy white bedding, soft as clouds and inviting comfort at a glance.
A divine-grade longsword appeared in Sally’s hand, the blade embedded with various luxurious divine-grade gems. You Hao had given it to her, and it was just his taste for such flamboyant trinkets that showcased his extraordinary wealth.
With an effortless swing of the Divine Sword, it split into two.
Flakes of down floated towards the ceiling like snowflakes.
And on the ceiling, there were colorful paintings of men and women in the throes of passion, depicted in a variety of vivid poses.
Sally shifted her gaze and noticed a hidden door beneath the bed.
She walked over and knocked three times with the heel of her shoe—’thud, thud, thud.’ The hidden door opened.
According to her memory, that was how the 24th had opened it.
The door opened to reveal a narrow tunnel, winding downwards.
Xiaomei said to Sally, "There is a Barrier below."
"Oh?" Sally paused, then continued walking, as the space around her grew larger.
Finally, she reached a dark chamber protected by a Barrier.
With a horizontal slash of the Divine Sword, the Barrier shattered.
Sally entered the dark chamber.
Inside, it was pitch black, but to Plain Face, there were no impediments to her visibility.
On the wall were spotty rust-colored stains, along with several silver chains... Suddenly, moonlight shone through a vent.
Illuminated by the light was a silver coffin with densely packed patterns, chillingly intricate.
Sally lifted the Divine Sword in her hand and split it open!
Inside, it was empty, nothing at all.
"He~" A low, magnetic chuckle came from behind Sally.
Sally turned around, and it was the 24th!
He was holding a small baby, whether dead or alive, it made no movement whatsoever.
Sally had Xiaomei perform a scan.
Xiaomei informed Sally, "The baby is already dead."
Sally sheathed her Divine Sword and said to the 24th, "Is he the child I saved?"
"Yes, but he still died." The 24th replied, "He lived the longest so far."
"It was some Samurai who acted at that time."
"I know, they are the rebels opposing Abel’s regime. But it doesn’t matter anymore. That the Abel Clan has finally reached the 24th generation, it is destiny."
"You believe in destiny too?"
"Of course. The Promised Wall, didn’t you see it?"
"What did I see? I never made it inside, I was swallowed by the Vortex both times before and after. This place is where the Vortex brought me."
"This is the Promised Wall," the 24th told Sally.
Sally was taken aback. "What did you say?"
"The Promised Wall no longer has the Power of Promise," said 24th, looking at her. "Sorry, you’ve come in vain."
"But last time... wasn’t it the power of the Promised Wall that sent me back to the Beast World?"
"Yes, that was the last bit of power the Promised Wall had. Take a look outside," 24th told Sally.
Sally frowned, then pulled up the System Map.
The oasis had vanished when she had no idea!
Endless desert surrounded the castle.
"When you came in, you broke the castle’s Illusion Realm. Now you’re seeing the reality," 24th said to Sally.
Sally’s expression turned ugly. "Is this really the Promised Wall?"
"Yes! Yase must have told you not to come here, right?" 24th said with a smile that was somewhat dazzling.
Sally frowned... Indeed, Yase had said that the Promised Wall was no place for goodness!
It seems he knew that 24th was here.
"What should I do? The Promised Wall was my last hope." All that Sally had steadfastly believed in seemed to crumble in that moment.
24th looked at her and asked, "What do you want to promise? I might not be able to help you, but it’s always good to speak about it."
Sally looked out at the moonlight coming through the ventilated window, "I owe someone and want to resurrect him. But it requires a lot, a very powerful energy. I thought the Promised Wall would have what I need."
24th’s gaze fell on Sally’s abdomen, "You are pregnant, just like the last time you were here."
"Yes," Sally didn’t deny.
"It’s Yase’s child," 24th asserted.
"My child," Sally’s warning gaze fixed on him. "Don’t even think about using my child."
"Don’t you want to bring back, your indebted person? A life must be repaid with a life," said 24th to Sally.
Sally suddenly choked up, looking down at her belly, "You’re right, a life should be repaid with a life, but not the child’s life!"
After speaking, she left the dark room and headed for the secret tunnel.
24th watched her back. "Are you leaving?"
Sally stopped, turned, and looked at him.
She hadn’t noticed before... there was a fine silver chain around his foot, binding him. And the other end of the chain was attached to the wall.
"Can he be taken out, just find any world and bury him?"
"What about you?" asked Sally, using Divine Power to take the deceased infant.
24th’s gaze fell on the coffin that Sally had split open, "Even my last resting place is gone."
Suddenly, 24th burst into a smile at Sally. His perfect face was as beautiful as a blooming Rose, the smile gradually fading to transparency, and his figure indeed began to fade. "Sally Millet, in this lifetime, you’ve utterly destroyed me!"
Sally’s heart jolted, "..."
With a smile on his face, 24th blended into the moonlight and disappeared.
Far away on Abel Star.
Yase had just repaired the crystal ball and was about to check on Sally. Suddenly, he sensed something and slightly furrowed his brows.
At last, he sighed, "You still went!"
...
Sally left the castle with the deceased infant in her arms. Looking out at the endless yellow sand, she suddenly heard the sound of something collapsing behind her.
She hurriedly turned around.
The castle behind her gradually crumbled into dust, blending with the desert.
Looking down at the deceased infant in her arms, it appeared as though he were sleeping.
"Can he be resurrected?" Sally asked Xiaomei.
Xiaomei replied, "We can try, but it may cost quite a number of the Host’s points."
Sally bit her lip, "He’s been saved once already; this second time doesn’t matter."
"Alright, Host," Xiaomei replied.
