Beast God -
Chapter 69: Being Outplayed
After Duan Shulin rushed into the Profound Yin Cave, he found that Chen Guan’s figure had completely disappeared. Anxious, he took some pills and continued to chase forward.
However, Duan Shulin remained cautious and turned off his headlamp to avoid being tracked. Although he didn’t believe such a thing would happen, he still did it.
The cave tunnels branched out in all directions and were pitch black. Tracking someone in such an environment was almost impossible. Moreover, even if he could track someone, if Chen Guan arrived first and directly harvested the Nether Lotus, unless he reached the place first, arriving two or three minutes later would be useless.
What Duan Shulin feared most now was that Chen Guan had already guessed the approximate location of the Nether Lotus. If by some stroke of luck Chen Guan found it before him, Duan Shulin would suffer a huge loss.
Duan Shulin groped forward quickly in the darkness. His eyes emitted a faint green glow, allowing him to distinguish objects in the dark.
He did not see the light of a headlamp anywhere along the way, which made him even more worried that Chen Guan had already found the Nether Lotus. He deeply regretted it—if he had known Chen Guan had this ability and such shamelessness, he would never have shown off in front of him.
He didn’t realize that he had already become Chen Guan’s guide, personally leading Chen Guan to the location of the Nether Lotus.
Chen Guan did not have the ability to see in the dark secretly, but he also did not turn on his headlamp, otherwise Duan Shulin would have definitely noticed.
Yet Chen Guan moved at no slower speed in the dark, tracking Duan Shulin’s trail from behind and maintaining a certain distance while tailing him.
Chen Guan’s ability to do this was all thanks to Warring States.Canine creatures generally have some night vision, and this spirit pet was no exception. It was even stronger than a normal dog, and its sense of smell was extremely sharp. It didn’t need to get too close to Duan Shulin; just by tracking his scent, it could know where he was heading.
The more Duan Shulin chased, the more unsettled he became. He hadn’t seen any flicker of a headlamp’s light the entire way and feared Chen Guan had already found the Nether Lotus ahead of him.
Impatiently, he rushed to where the Nether Lotus grew. He squeezed through a narrow gap barely wide enough for one person to crawl through with his bones folded, crawling over a hundred meters in the winding, cramped space before finally emerging into a downward sloping rock tunnel.
At the bend at the end of that passage, a faint blue light was visible.
Duan Shulin quickened his pace, taking three steps at once and rushing forward. Turning the corner, he immediately saw the cave space ahead, where blue flames surged out of underground fire holes, rising more than ten meters high and illuminating the entire cavern in a blue glow.
Although it looked like a fierce blaze, it didn’t feel hot or scorching; instead, it gave off a chilling coldness.
Duan Shulin didn’t dare approach the rock cave ravaged by the Profound Nether Yin Flames. Stretching his neck to peer inside, he saw at the bottom near the underground fire holes, a strangely alluring blue lotus flower blooming amidst the yin flames. It looked as if it were sculpted from blue crystal, with flickering blue lights shining from within, its eerie beauty resembling a flower blooming in the underworld.
“The Nether Lotus is still here…” Duan Shulin suddenly seemed to realize something. He abruptly turned around and switched on his headlamp, shining it toward the path he came from.
Where the light shone, a slender figure stood there—it could only be Chen Guan.
“Amazing, truly amazing. You actually kept up with me. You outplayed me, and I don’t feel wronged. Aside from Jiang Qiemo, no one has ever outplayed me like this in my entire life,” Duan Shulin stared at Chen Guan. Instead of gnashing his teeth in anger, he clapped his hands and praised him.
Chen Guan said nothing and silently summoned Rouge.
Now, to obtain the Nether Lotus, it could only be done by strength.
Duan Shulin also summoned the Tomb Lord to counter Rouge and then walked toward Chen Guan himself.
While walking, he subtly moved his body. His bones cracked with each motion. Within a few steps, his body seemed to have grown larger. What had once looked slightly fatty was now tightened, with every muscle bulging, the lines clearly defined and prominent. He looked like he was filled with explosive power.
His eyes flashed with a sharp light as he coldly said to Chen Guan, “Your Evil Cute Rabbit is definitely no ordinary spirit, but it might not be the Tomb Lord’s match. Even if it’s stronger, as long as the Tomb Lord can hold it for three minutes, that’s enough time for me to deal with you.”
“It seems you have great confidence in yourself,” Chen Guan said indifferently.
“I told you, I was born to walk this path. By three years old, I had mastered the Hundred Schools Fist. By ten, the academy had nothing left to teach me. Apart from Jiang Qiemo, no peer is my match. Do you think I’m joking with you?” Duan Shulin’s entire aura changed from usual. Even his facial contours became sharp and angular, as if carved with a knife and axe. His imposing aura, combined with his height and muscles, gave off a powerful oppression and unmatched dominance.
“Sounds pretty strong,” Chen Guan was unconcerned. In his current state, he was almost invincible after just one rest.
Even against the mutated Profound Yin Ghost Mother, Chen Guan had the strength to fight, with almost no chance of losing.
Duan Shulin couldn’t even defeat the mutated Profound Yin Ghost Mother; how could he compete with Chen Guan? So Chen Guan was not worried at all.
“It’s not just sounding strong or seeming strong—I really am strong,” Duan Shulin coldly looked at Chen Guan and said, “You outplaying me means you’re quite the talent. I’ll give you a chance: follow me from now on, and I’ll guarantee you a lifetime of glory and wealth.”
“Win against me first, then talk,” Chen Guan said calmly.
“If I strike, you’ll have no chance of survival. When my Great River Demon Fist is unleashed, I am invincible. My enemies die, I survive. Even I cannot hold back its power. You won’t live,” Duan Shulin said. Seeing that Chen Guan did not order the Evil Cute Rabbit to attack first, he did not let the Tomb Lord rush forward, only positioning it to restrain the Evil Cute Rabbit.
“Great River Demon Fist? Never heard of it,” Chen Guan silently gathered his power. His palm had already turned blood red.
“Now you can see it with your own eyes. But after you see it, your life will probably be gone. I advise you not to see it at all,” Duan Shulin took step after step toward Chen Guan, his aura becoming more and more domineering, like a demon god who had slaughtered countless people on the battlefield, walking out of mountains of corpses and rivers of blood.
“What if I want to see?” Chen Guan took a battle stance, the Blood Palm ready to explode at any moment.
Unfortunately, his primordial energy was insufficient to use the Profound Nether Yin Fire Palm; otherwise, dealing with Duan Shulin would be easy.
“Good advice is hard to give to a damned ghost, so don’t blame me for being ruthless.” Duan Shulin’s figure suddenly expanded again. His muscles bulged high, tearing apart his shirt and exposing steel-like muscles.
Boom!
Duan Shulin’s punch exploded, producing a blast-like sound, as if mist burst from his fist.
The punch was fast and fierce, almost instantly reaching Chen Guan.
Bang!
Chen Guan didn’t dodge. His right hand, blood red like his palm, met Duan Shulin’s Great River Demon Fist. The collision of fists and palms immediately produced an explosive, thunderous sound.
