Chapter 412: Chapter 412 Are You Fishing with a Long Line?

The man grabbed her hand and said urgently, "Come with me first!"

Shang Lvxing reached out a moment too late, watching helplessly as Lu Xining was pulled forward by him.

He exchanged a glance with Cheng Cang and quickly followed in hurried steps.

"Ji Muye, let go. I can run by myself."

In the silent white hallway of the biological laboratory, Lu Xining was being pulled swiftly forward by Ji Muye.

His voice was deep: "I’ll let go in a moment."

Despite his words, not only did he not let go, he tightened his grip slightly, leading her through winding paths and bypassing small rooms one after another until they reached a safe spot.

The man was reluctant to release her hand, but he knew he had to at this moment.

She pulled her hand back before he could let go, looked at him, and asked, "Why did you come back?"

"You’re still here. How could I leave?" He stared into her eyes, and every word he spoke carried weight.

Lu Xining: "..."

Shang Lvxing and Cheng Cang, who came in right behind them, happened to hear Ji Muye’s words, and both of their mouths twitched, evidently not expecting such a remark to come from him.

Ji Muye noticed their gazes and felt a slight embarrassment and discomfort.

Cheng Cang and Shang Lvxing had already informed their teams at this point.

"Head to the upstairs room first. The Royal Cruise is already in chaos, and those people won’t escape this domestic maritime zone; they’ll end up seized by the ’Blue Organization’ crew."

The four of them returned to the upstairs room.

Patrols surrounded the area, and the three forces—Ji Muye, Shang Lvxing, and Cheng Cang—all collaborated with one another.

Haozi replaced the surveillance footage online, while the Chu Family’s former subordinates found reasons to redirect the guards patrolling the hallway, offering them a chance to return to their room.

Ji Muye’s original room was now vacant.

There were plenty of empty rooms on the ship.

Even if searches for Lu Xining were launched, Meng Lai and his crew could never imagine that those who had supposedly departed were now back on the Royal Cruise—much less that Lu Xining and her companions were hiding in Ji Muye’s previous room.

As soon as they entered the room, commotion from the hallway reached their ears—guests wanting to leave their rooms were arguing with the guards.

"Why won’t you let us leave? We’re not prisoners!"

"I’ve already notified the authorities, and they’ll send ships to pick us up soon. You better slow down and stop the ship immediately!"

As the four of them settled into the room, they immediately chose spots to sit and started planning their next move.

According to the original plan, the message Lu Xining had sent out would result in the Royal Cruise being intercepted at the latest by early tomorrow morning. Meng Lai and his men were destined to be trapped in these waters.

But now, realizing something was off, they had ordered the captain to speed up, intending to flee.

However! The guests wouldn’t allow it.

Upon noticing the ship’s increased pace, they immediately demanded answers.

Meng Lai, though, was no longer interested in placating these wealthy individuals. Once they were fed to the creatures in the ocean, who would even know that it was his doing?

By then, the Royal Cruise could be completely discarded!

Meng Lai and his group had long planned this—using the now-successful research from the biological laboratory as a trade-off for a chance to return to a luxurious life on land, they would destroy the Royal Cruise and abandon their past entirely.

"Did you get the experimental data?" Cheng Cang looked at Lu Xining’s stuffed backpack and was about to lend a hand to take it off her shoulders, but Ji Muye swatted away his hand before it touched her.

Ji Muye: "Don’t touch her while you’re talking."

Cheng Cang: "???" What’s wrong with this guy! He was just trying to help!

Lu Xining’s backpack contained many laboratory data booklets, which seemed very heavy. After blocking Cheng Cang, Ji Muye voluntarily reached out, "Let me help you..."

Before he finished his sentence, she deftly set the backpack down herself, placing it on the sofa behind her.

Lu Xining: "I can manage it myself."

The experimental data booklets she had with her could serve as evidence against Meng Lai and his group.

Yet the most crucial item was Shang Lvxing’s hard drive, which contained the original and newest data from the biological laboratory.

From Shang Lvxing’s earpiece, Haozi shared the latest findings and, looking at Lu Xining, reassured her, "Don’t worry. Haozi detected that... Meng Lai and his team are busy hunting down the missing experimental subjects. They’re too caught up for us now."

Back in the biological lab, Lu Xining had discovered numerous traces of seawater.

This revealed that while the subjects had been successfully produced, their bodily functions still leaned toward the habits of marine creatures.

For example: They needed to be immersed in seawater.

Upon hearing this, Cheng Cang shared what he knew with them, addressing Lu Xining, "There’s no way they’ll find them. Those escaped subjects left the glass chambers, went out onto the laboratory’s balcony, and returned to the ocean from the Royal Cruise."

With a ship this enormous and this tall, even if they wanted to come back, they couldn’t.

Perhaps, for those who were no longer truly human, the ocean felt far more natural and comfortable than the land.

Temporarily safe, the four of them began handling their respective tasks.

Lu Xining walked out onto the balcony and gazed at the ocean, starting to miss her daughter and sons.

Ji Muye followed her outside, assuming she was worried about leaving the ship, and proactively explained, "Actually, the ’Blue Organization’ had been monitoring the Royal Cruise’s irregularities for years, coordinating with other nations and organizations to investigate the ship. This time, their smooth entry into North City Pier was a fishing operation."

"I know." She turned to look at Ji Muye and candidly shared her observations.

"Many of the passengers boarding this time have unusual skin, like what I saw at Cheng Cang’s auto shop basement. Those are your people, aren’t they?"

The emotions in Ji Muye’s gaze froze. He hadn’t expected this revelation, and for a moment, he was at a loss for words.

After all, they were once married for five years. Seeing his reaction, there was little that Lu Xining couldn’t figure out.

She smiled knowingly and voiced the reason behind his consistent evasiveness.

Lu Xining turned her gaze to meet his eyes and said calmly, "Ji Muye, isn’t this Royal Cruise mission one of your assignments too?"

He was speechless, without offering any denial.

Lu Xining continued, "You knew I was from the Chu Family. You knew Meng Lai was looking for Chu Family members, and you knew as soon as I boarded that I’d become a primary target for Meng Lai’s group. You kept showing up around me to create the false perception of being ’lovestruck’ for their benefit, didn’t you?"

Sometimes, being overly attuned to emotions can trap one in emotional dilemmas.

Her words instantly darkened Ji Muye’s expression. Lowering his gaze, he murmured bitterly, "So now, that’s how you see me?"
