Chapter 397: Chapter 397: Ex-Husband’s Love Life is Really Thriving

Early the next morning.

Lu Xining had just woken up when she heard that something big had happened on the ship.

She opened the door and saw Ma Sai standing guard outside.

As soon as he saw her, he greeted her with a smile, "Miss Lu, good morning. Did you sleep well last night?"

"Not bad. What are you doing here?"

Lu Xining looked back and forth down the corridor and noticed people gathered at the doors of other suites, discussing something.

There were also staff explaining things to them, and the mix of languages from different countries wasn’t very clear.

Ma Sai spoke honestly, "Well, something strange sneaked onto the ship last night. Several rooms had bloody handprints on their windows, and it gave people quite a scare when they opened the curtains this morning."

He pointed with his eyes to the room next to Lu Xining’s, Ji Muye’s room, and added some praise for his boss, "Our boss was worried Miss Lu might be frightened, so he had me stay here to watch over you."

Just as he finished speaking, Ji Muye came out after hearing the commotion.

He glanced at the talkative Ma Sai and advised Lu Xining, "The ship isn’t peaceful. Don’t come out unless necessary. I’ll have Ma Sai watch your door."

Last night, Cheng Cang had stayed in her room for a long time, then went back to shower and change clothes before coming to her room again for a lengthy visit.

Hearing this news from Ma Sai, Ji Muye wanted to go next door and knock on the door directly, but knowing Lu Xining’s temperament, he held back, tossing and turning all night unable to sleep.

Ji Muye: "Last night, you and Cheng Cang..."

Wait! What’s up with Cheng Cang? With all the commotion in the corridor, there hadn’t been any sign of movement from Cheng Cang’s side.

Lu Xining quickly walked to the door of the room next door and knocked, "Cheng Cang."

No response came from inside.

She turned to look at the gathered people over there, their faces laden with lingering fear, and she heard the details of their discussions.

"Check the surveillance! If you don’t give us an explanation for these bloody handprints today, this ship won’t continue sailing! The Royal Cruise hasn’t reached the public sea; we have the right to request assistance. Have your person in charge come and speak to us; a waiter has no decision-making power!"

The speaker was extremely angry!

An incident occurred, and it was unacceptable that no one in charge from the Royal Cruise came forward; they only sent a few seemingly inexperienced waiters, as if mocking their status.

"That’s right! Bring out your person in charge!"

"Where’s Mr. Lott? Bring him here now. We need an explanation for these bloody handprints today!"

The waiters had no choice but to quickly report upwards.

The result was beyond everyone’s expectations.

Lott was dead.

These people whining and clamoring weren’t helping the situation, and Meng Lai, hiding at the bottom of the ship’s cabin, appeared with bodyguards after learning of Lott’s death, announcing his demise with an angry expression.

"We suspect someone deliberately sabotaged us. Please cooperate with the investigation."

As he said this, his gaze kept falling on Lu Xining but was met the next second by Ji Muye’s icy stare.

The man positioned himself in front of Lu Xining, blocking Meng Lai’s improper gaze.

At this moment, the door in front of Lu Xining was also opened from the inside, and Cheng Cang emerged sleepily, asking, "What’s going on? I slept too deeply and didn’t hear the knocking."

Standing close to him, Lu Xining saw the clarity in his eyes and said, "Something happened last night."

The door to another room, Shang Lvxing’s, also opened.

Lu Xining locked eyes with him.

Everyone was invited to last night’s banquet hall, where the "Heart of the Deep Sea" in the transparent display was still dazzling, but at the moment, everyone had no heart to admire it, trapped in a swirl of panic and unable to calm down.

Someone recognized Meng Lai’s identity, the only son of a high-ranking figure from Country M, who had disappeared after his father was pulled down from power; unexpectedly, he’d been hiding on the Royal Cruise, seemingly living comfortably.

After leaving the room, Cheng Cang stayed by Lu Xining’s side, ignoring Ji Muye’s warning glances, occasionally sharing some information with her.

Lu Xining: "Did you open the window last night?"

Cheng Cang: "Yeah, I heard some noise."

Since reaching an understanding last night, a new sense of camaraderie had developed between them.

Not far away, Ji Muye was chatting with others but his peripheral vision never left the two of them.

Cheng Cang looked at Meng Lai on stage, his gaze dark, and said, "He’s called Meng Lai, one of those four scoundrels, and the other three are hiding in the bottom cabin like turtles. They’re really good at hiding."

He couldn’t understand what Meng Lai was saying on the stage, spat in exasperation, and said, "This foreigner is babbling away, such a noise."

Hearing his straightforward criticism of Meng Lai, Lu Xining smirked and translated Meng Lai’s words for him.

Then she continued, "The Royal Cruise is their territory. Once they confirm no threats from people on the ship, they’ll show themselves."

Despising these people who disregard human life, how could they possibly keep hiding on their territory? But there’s uncertainty whether any of the people on the ship are "targets for revenge."

Cheng Cang said through gritted teeth, "One day, we need to throw these scum into the sea to feed the fish, to honor my adoptive father’s spirit in heaven."

Lu Xining silently looked at the seriousness in his eyes, her thoughts swirling.

She had just learned that those bloody handprints last night appeared on the outer windows of the suite lounges. The ship’s hull was smooth with no place to hold onto, so no one could possibly climb to those windows.

Unless...

She thought of the young merman she saw yesterday.

His fingers had fused like the webbing of sea creatures, if he was the successful product of biological experiments on the Royal Cruise, wouldn’t the fish traits "transfer" to him as well?

Being an experimental subject herself, Lu Xining was slightly curious about the researcher capable of this feat, planning to personally take a look at the bottom cabin tonight.

Initially, she thought Lott was just a puppet on the open stage; now it seemed there might be other hidden truths about his identity.

In her reflections, a sharp gaze fell upon Lu Xining, and when she followed it, she saw Shang Yueling’s cold eyes.

With all the noise in the hallway this morning, she hadn’t seen Shang Yueling or Zhuang Tian come out. Now, she stood alone in the corner, staring at her with a haunting intensity, giving one the eerie feeling of being watched by a ghost.

Suddenly, Lu Xining’s arm was nudged by Cheng Cang’s elbow. She turned to look at him, only to see him winking and gesturing toward Ji Muye’s direction.

He leaned in and whispered, "You won’t believe it, your ex-husband has quite a flourishing love life, it seems to bloom wherever he goes."

A blonde, blue-eyed foreign beauty was enthusiastically talking to Ji Muye.

When Lu Xining’s gaze shifted over, the man’s eyes pierced through the crowd to settle on her, his dark pupils unblinkingly fixed on her, with an inscrutable expression.

Ji Muye pointed in Lu Xining’s direction, and the blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty followed his gaze, showing regret when her eyes found the exceptionally stunning and elegant Lu Xining, and soon distanced herself from him, returning to her friends.
