Chapter 64: Appraisal

Chapter 64: Appraisal

"Ang, Dapper~"

"Angh~"

"Angh~"

"Lower your voice, Riley. The dorm’s already quiet, they’re going to hear us having sex," Dapper groaned as he thrust vigorously, towering over Riley. Her hair was a mess across the bed, her legs spread wide as Dapper pistoned into her without pause. The bedframe creaked under their rhythm and weight, but neither of them cared, they were lost in each other.

It was already morning. Dapper and Riley had been having sex all night, with only a few short breaks in between. Strangely enough, even after three rounds, Dapper still wasn’t satisfied. And since Riley’s pussy kept begging for more, she welcomed every new round with willing moans.

"I’m going crazy~ Dapper~ we have to sleep~" Riley moaned mid-thrust.

"I’m almost there," Dapper groaned, slamming into her one last time before releasing deep inside her again. Riley’s body tightened as she clung to Dapper, locking him in a strong embrace as she climaxed with him. The best part for her was always when he came inside, his hot load filling her womb pushed her to orgasm almost every time.

After their release, they finally drifted off to sleep, hoping to rest for the two remaining hours before classes began.

Roughly twenty minutes before the siren would go off, Dapper and Riley lay naked in each other’s arms, the soft morning air brushing against their skin. Riley’s eyes fluttered open. She glanced at the clock and realized it was almost time, everyone would soon be awake. Quickly, she got dressed, gave Dapper a light kiss, and quietly slipped out of his room.

As she made her way through the dormitory, she ran into a few patrolling guards. Her heart pounded wildly in her chest, fearing they’d question her. But to her surprise, they didn’t even spare her a single glance, they were too busy chatting to care. Power-walking, Riley made her way back to her own dorm. But as soon as she opened the door, she was met with a sight that made her freeze.

"B-Big sister!" Riley gasped in shock upon seeing Dora seated on her bed, waiting.

"I know you’re not a minor anymore, but I really have a lot of questions about your relationship with that boy. I’ve had my suspicions for a while now because you two were just a little too close."

Back in Dapper’s room, about ten minutes after Riley left, he woke up. Dark circles lingered under his eyes as he sat up. He looked over to where Riley had slept and gently ran his hand across the empty space, a strange emotion flickering in his chest.

’Why am I getting attached to Riley too? I’ve only known her for a few days. It’s the same with Elena, Ruth and Belinda. In my past life, I was cold-hearted, I never let emotions cloud my judgment. My nonchalance was what led to my death... all because my girlfriend betrayed me and set me up for countless cheating scandals. Have I gone soft in this world? Am I foolishly getting attached again? No... that’s not it. I didn’t get attached to the other women I had sex with—like Lice’s sister or Mrs. Layla, it was simply a symbiotic relationship. Riley and Elena, they’re different. Maybe... I just naturally like Riley. Now that I think about it, I never even used the Sex Pheromone Scent on her.’ Dapper pondered, weighing his thoughts and the danger of relying too much on the effects of the scent.

Dapper took a bath and hurriedly made his way to the classroom. Upon arrival, he noticed everyone standing upright while a soldier was directing them to another section of the classroom building. Without question, the students followed the soldier to a part of the building that was usually locked—until the soldier unlocked the door and gestured them inside.

The moment they stepped in, a strong scent assaulted their senses. It was so intense that Dapper could feel himself involuntarily swallowing it. They had just entered what looked like a facility, an interior filled with all sorts of things. There were countless shelves overflowing with items such as potions, empty vials, dried herbs, crystals, and many other things Dapper couldn’t even identify. Off to the side, a massive weapon rack stood, not stocked with swords, spears, or axes, but with staffs, staves, and lances. What caught Dapper’s attention even more were the eerie items scattered around. Actual human skeletons, monster remains, strange artifacts, and odd wall drawings that looked like runes or ancient depictions. To top it all off, there was a medium-sized ring arena on one side of the facility. The place was so massive that Dapper couldn’t wrap his head around how it all fit inside this part of the building.

"It seems all of you are here," a voice suddenly boomed, startling the students. Heads turned in multiple directions until their eyes finally landed on an old bearded man with white white goatee walking toward them with a bent back. He wasn’t dressed in the typical military uniform like the other instructors, instead, he wore a green robe made from the same material, adorned from top to bottom with various insignias and badges.

Immediately, everyone bowed their heads in respect.

"Oi, oi, not many of you this year, huh? But numbers don’t mean much. We value quality over quantity," the old man said, pausing briefly to straighten his back before it hunched again. "I’m Manor, a teacher here at the academy and a war veteran. My role is to guide you in choosing your specialty and teach you counter-techniques when facing other races."

"I can see his life force. I see death following him from behind. This man has killed a lot... way more than the others. Not even Deegan combined with others can compare," Shinro muttered, his eyes filled with reverence.

Dapper raised a brow at Shinro’s comment, unsure whether to take him seriously. At first, he thought Shinro was just joking around again, but then he noticed Riley staring at Shinro with a serious look, making him even more confused.

"What do you mean by ’you can see death following him’? Anyway, the man did say he’s a veteran, so it makes sense if he’s killed a lot during the first war," Dapper said, shrugging.

"You won’t understand, Dapper..." Shinro grunted.

"Why don’t you tell Dapper what you told me yesterday?" Riley suddenly asked.

"Dapper? He didn’t even believe me when I said I saw death hovering around the old man," Shinro muttered, almost sulking.

"Who said I didn’t believe you? Did you even tell me you could see things others can’t? Now I feel left out," Dapper replied, shaking his head playfully.

"It’s nothing major... I can see people’s auras."

"Auras?" Dapper echoed, just before the old man’s voice interrupted their conversation.

"Today, we’ll be appraising everyone’s Mana and determining what suits you best. That way, you’ll know your path in life. Please come forward one by one and don’t cause any ruckus. Anyone caught causing trouble will be sent out of this facility. It doesn’t matter if you’re the last to be appraised—those who go earlier will still have to wait in the classroom," the old man warned.

Immediately, everyone began forming a line based on where they were standing. Those closest to the old man naturally ended up at the front.

The old man, Manor, sat on a wooden chair behind a wooden desk, on top of which sat a large crystal orb that glowed faintly.

The students began stepping forward one at a time. Dapper, along with Shinro and Riley, were somewhere in the middle. They could see the old man speaking to each student after appraising them, but strangely, they couldn’t hear a word of what was being said.

"Did that old man cast a sound cancellation spell? But when did he even do that?" Shinro asked, glancing back at Dapper and Riley.

"Man, I don’t know either. I’m just as confused," Dapper replied with a shrug.

"That’s probably the case. I heard elite soldiers don’t chant, they just cast spells," Riley chimed in thoughtfully.

After about an hour, it was finally Shinro’s turn. He stepped forward, gave the old man a slight bow, and then placed his hand on the crystal orb.

The orb shimmered faintly as the old man closed his eyes, almost as though he were drifting off to sleep, until they slowly fluttered open a few moments later.

"Boy, listen closely. You have a substantial amount of life force as if you’ve trained it. That kind of thing doesn’t escape these old eyes. While I’m not an expert in aura manipulation, I suggest you learn to use it. Your Mana’s a bit lacking, though. If your system requires you to meet certain conditions, then make sure you do. As for your specialty, I’d say you’re best suited to be a cover mage. That’s a mage who protects other mages in battle. Your aura is dense, like that of a demon’s. If you can wield it right, even trained combatants wouldn’t be able to compare to you. What’s your name, boy?" the old man asked.

"The name’s Shinro."

"Shinro... you remind me of Deegan. He was just like you when I first met him, and I took him as my disciple," Manor said, gently stroking his beard.
