Chapter 636: Chapter 636: The Retribution Has Come_1 Chapter 636: Chapter 636: The Retribution Has Come_1 “I’m done with you all! I’m going to call the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts and tell them everything.” Mr. Mi said before trying to head into his room. But Li Guoying grabbed him, causing him to lose balance and fall to the ground.
Dai Jinhai came in from outside just in time to catch the scene, and was greatly startled as he hurried over to assist Mr. Mi.
“Are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?” Dai Jinhai anxiously asked.
Mr. Mi was usually sturdy for his age, and had instinctively used his hands to brace his fall. While he was physically unharmed, the event had had a tremendous impact on him emotionally.
Li Guoying knew she had lost control and didn’t dare look at Mr. Mi. She wanted to quietly leave with her husband, but due to the unresolved issue regarding Mi Yuezhen, she was unyielding and refused to leave.
“How could you treat him like this?” Dai Jinhai looked unhappily at Li Guoying, scolding her without hesitation. “Mr. Mi is elderly and should be walking carefully. He shouldn’t have been yanked like that!”
“Grandpa Dai, I didn’t! I was just careless.” Li Guoying said hesitantly. “Are you okay, dad? I didn’t mean it. I’m really sorry!”
Mr. Mi sat on the ground sighing, not wanting to look at his daughter-in-law.
“Get up! Don’t sit on the ground anymore.” Dai Jinhai helped him up and got him settled in a chair. “How do you feel? Is anything hurting? Bones lose their calcium as we age, a fall can easily lead to fractures.”
“I’m fine!” Mr. Mi rubbed his still aching knee and after making sure there was no severe injury, he said: “I’m sorry for the scene.”
“We’ve known each other for years! Haven’t I seen enough of the mishaps at your family’s? One more makes no difference.”
Mr. Mi: “…”
“I was just trying to be polite, but he really took me seriously. Shameless! After all these years, doesn’t he know to spare me a little dignity?”
The Mi family bore embarrassed faces, wanting to say something but unable to due to Dai Jinhai’s standing. They had to swallow their words. Li Guoying dared to stand up to Mr. Mi because she knew her father-in-law would not harm her and would eventually concede.
But Dai Jinhai was different.
Li Guoying was the typical bully who only picked on the weak.
“Tell me! What is all the fuss about?” Dai Jinhai had perceived from the beginning that it wasn’t something trivial that could upset Mr. Mi like this.
“Grandpa Dai, it’s just a minor family matter.” Li Guoying tried to brush it off. “You’re busy, we won’t keep you.” Dai Jinhai was an insider, and if he found out it would certainly complicate things. He definitely couldn’t be let in on it.
“Yes! Grandpa Dai, you go ahead!” Even Mi Yuezhen, who had been hiding behind Li Guoying, had to step out. She understood Dai Jinhai better than Li Guoying did and knew if he found out, he surely wouldn’t support her.
“Humph! Why are you acting so guarded?” Dai Jinhai wouldn’t bother with others’ affairs if they weren’t his long-time buddies.
“I’ll tell you!” Mr. Mi kept sighing. The saying goes that family disgrace should not be aired in public, but he felt like he’d lost all his dignity over his lifetime.
“Dad!” Li Guoying shrieked.
“Grandpa, you can’t do this to me.” Mi Yuezhen was not hiding her sentiments anymore, instead, she glared at Mr. Mi angrily. “I’m your own granddaughter, yet you want to harm me.”
Dai Jinhai frowned deeply upon hearing this, watching Mi Yuezhen’s furious face with increasing displeasure.
Mr. Mi had spoiled his granddaughter too much in the past, but Dai Jinhai had warned him before that doing so would eventually spoil her rotten. Wasn’t she proving that prediction right now?
