Chapter 1399: Chapter 1418: The Visit

In the past, those troublemaking students in the school—backed by an imposing background—were eventually disciplined into compliance. Only Jiang Nanfei, she was the most formidable; not only did the school fail to handle her, but they were actually brought into line by her instead.

"Alright! Good luck!" He Shasha parked the car steadily, letting Nan Fei go to her classroom, before heading back to her own classroom last.

The two were not in the same major and their classrooms were a bit far apart.

"Okay! I got it." Nan Fei waved her hand, watching He Shasha’s car drive away, ready to head towards the second-floor classroom, when she caught a glimpse of the slender youth standing across the street from the corner of her eye.

She froze abruptly, as if rooted to the spot, her body maintaining the half-turned pose, staring blankly across the street.

Jiang Yang silently watched Nan Fei’s figure from across the street, and upon being discovered by her, wanted to flash a gentle smile at her, but for some reason, he tasted a salty bitterness in his mouth. Confused, he lifted his hand to touch it and found it was the cold wetness of tears.

Jiang Yang couldn’t help but widen his eyes, remembering what Brother Wei Qin had said, that the day he would cry, he would be completely healed.

So, was he healed now?

But why, upon seeing his sister so close at hand, does he still feel such discomfort?

Jiang Yang had never understood these feelings before, and he never even considered how his decisions might have harmed his sister. Not until Wei Qin’s death, when the words he had said echoed over and over in his ears.

He suddenly realized just how cruel he had been.

So this is cruelty, this is emotion. But his understanding came too late. When Sister Nan Fei needed him the most, he had done something almost identical to what Jiang Dechun had done. Jiang Dechun abandoned him, but that could not be an excuse for him to abandon his sister.

His sister had been so kind to him, had given so much for him, but his indifference became the final straw that crushed her.

After Wei Qin’s funeral, Wei Fangyi encouraged him, talked to him a lot, and it was because of Wei Fangyi’s encouragement that he made up his mind to find his sister.

The chaotic thoughts in Jiang Yang’s mind quickly settled down, and he looked at Nan Fei with eyes full of tenderness, his eyes slightly narrowed and focused intently on hers. He now wanted to earnestly remember just how beautiful, how lovely Sister Nan Fei’s eyes were.

He had already given up on his sister once, and he couldn’t give up on her again this time.

With that in mind, Jiang Yang walked firmly across the street to stand in front of Nan Fei.

Nan Fei watched Jiang Yang approach step by step, and said expressionlessly, "Why are you here? Weren’t you going to the Beidaihe Sanatorium?" Her tone was very calm, like that of a casual acquaintance, not even a friend.

A tinge of sorrow began to infuse Jiang Yang’s eyes.

Nan Fei almost thought she had seen it wrong, as she had never seen such an emotion in Jiang Yang’s eyes.

"You’re completely well?" she blurted out.

"Yes."

"That’s good."

Having said that, Nan Fei fell silent, and the atmosphere between them became a little awkward. It was hard to imagine that just over a month ago, they were the closest of siblings.

"I’m sorry!" After a long while, Jiang Yang lowered his head and said softly, beseechingly, "Sister Nan Fei, can you forgive me?"

Nan Fei looked at the noticeably more mature Jiang Yang in front of her and suddenly laughed; it was a laugh of relief, and of reassurance. She had always been worried about Jiang Yang, but now that she saw he had recovered, understood grief, and knew to apologize, she felt truly at ease.
