Chapter 1388: Chapter 1407: Saving People
Ever since Kannaya fell back into war, this place has become Kaka’s new stronghold.
Burbank pointed to the isolation belt ahead, excitedly shouting, "We’re almost there, almost there."
Huo Beijiang glanced at him coldly and quickly shifted his eyes back to continue resting with his eyes closed.
Burbank said sheepishly, "Kaka will definitely be happy to see you."
"Yes! He will be happy, but I’m very pissed off." Huo Beijiang didn’t even open his eyes; instead, he changed his posture and propped his forehead with one hand.
After nearly six days’ journey, Huo Beijiang had been on high alert the entire time until now when he finally relaxed a little.
"..." Burbank was inwardly in agony. After all, Kaka’s methods were despicable, forcing someone over by kidnapping hostages. He was worried that when they met, they might just start fighting, considering they used to fight quite often in the past.
"Little Deer, what’s the name of the person we are rescuing?" Huo Beijiang opened his eyes, his sharp gaze bearing no trace of fatigue but was instead as piercing as a hawk’s.
"The boss is called Ding Jiaqi."
"First, take us to see the hostage."
"Yes, yes, yes, let’s bring out our esteemed guest first," Burbank shamelessly uttered.
Lu Jin’s mouth twitched as he heard this, realizing that foreigners really are terrifying when they are shameless.
The pickup truck passed the isolation belt. Mercenaries approached to inspect, but before they managed to inspect Huo Beijiang and his group, Burbank quickly poked his head out to scold them, and the vehicle was immediately allowed through, finally stopping in front of a large warehouse.
Burbank jumped out of the vehicle first, signaling the guarding mercenaries to open the door.
At that moment, about a dozen people were being held in the warehouse. Among them, an elderly professor who couldn’t withstand the ordeal suffered continuous low-grade fever since being kidnapped, causing him to be confused. The others were terrified beyond measure by the Tyrant’s reputation, with only the leader of this operation, Ding Jiaqi, being able to hold things together.
When the door opened, Ding Jiaqi was enduring dry mouth urging everyone to stay encouraged, her white lab coat was already tattered, covering her in disarray. However, this did not hide her beauty and confidence.
Ding Jiaqi graduated from a prestigious university, her mentor is famously renowned internationally. After graduation, she quickly joined the United Nations. This operation was her first time leading a team but unexpectedly ended up being kidnapped by the Tyrant.
"Everyone, don’t get disheartened. Remember we must survive; believe in me, someone will definitely come to rescue us," Ding Jiaqi said full of confidence: "I have always been lucky since I was a child, nothing will happen to us this time."
"Jiaqi, stop talking," said a female comrade sitting on the ground, weak from hunger and thirst. "I’ve heard before that no one who falls into the Tyrant’s hands comes out alive."
"So what?" Ding Jiaqi retorted unyieldingly, "I will never give up. Kaka, that Tyrant, will pay the price eventually. I believe as long as we do not give up, we can definitely make it out alive."
A person lying in the corner snorted through their nose, sarcastically saying: "Ding Jiaqi, your pretentious demeanor really disgusts me. Don’t forget it was your delay that led us into this mess."
Ding Jiaqi’s eyes reddened, overwhelmed with both pain and guilt, "I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. If it weren’t for me, none of you would have been involved."
"Enough! Let’s stop this, Jiaqi had good intentions. We are from the United Nations Medical Relief Organization, how could we not save an injured little boy?"
The others also voiced their support.
"Anyone would have saved him, Jiaqi did nothing wrong."
"That’s our duty, I’d rather be kidnapped than to ignore someone in need. Plus, by choosing to come to Kannaya, we were already prepared to face death."
"Don’t worry, everyone! We won’t die," Ding Jiaqi confidently said. "I have already sent out a distress signal; surely someone will come to rescue us."
PS: Going out for an event, the approximate time is one week, I will update again when I return home to repay my debt! Goodnight, love you all!
