Chapter 1245: Chapter 1264 Arrangement
"There’s no need for so many people to guard this place; everyone who should leave has left."
Nan Fei had offered to help Zuo Xinyao clean his dirty car, but he had refused.
Since she had made it clear that everyone should go, each of them, being busy with their own affairs, took their leave. Before leaving, they specifically stated that they would be on call if help was needed.
After everyone had left, Nan Fei realized that Ning Di, who had been standing nearest to the emergency room’s door, and Ying Jiuming, who had been crouching by his side, were still there.
Nan Fei gave the two a wry smile and took the initiative to explain what had happened.
She hadn’t gone into the details while Zuo Xinyao and the others were there because it was a private family matter, not needing to be shared. But it was different with these two, as Ying Jiuming had been investigating the previous case, and Ning Di’s stay was surely under Bei Jiang’s orders.
Ying Jiuming listened, stunned, "This... This is too horrible!" He had been there when Jiang Yang had fallen into the river and remembered feeling that something was offback at the county hospital. Now it all made sense here.
Was Jiang Zhuanzhuan’s cover-up really that good?
Ning Di, however, was obviously more composed. He wasn’t interested in the details but said bluntly, "She wants to stay with you and continue to be your good little sister."
"..."
The three fell silent at the same time, unsure what to say.
Eventually, Jiang Yang said, "I won’t continue living with her, and Sister Nan Fei, you shouldn’t live with her either."
"What should we do then?" Ying Jiuming’s head began to ache. "She is Nan Fei’s real sister; it’s impossible not to have any contact. I guess you can’t explain it to your parents either?"
His question earned a sympathetic look from Ning Di.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" It made his skin crawl.
"You! From now on, Jiang Zhuanzhuan is your responsibility." Ning Di, pleased with the solution he had thought up, revealed a relaxed smile. "Jiang Zhuanzhuan is too dangerous, a classic case of antisocial personality disorder. As a police officer, it’s your duty and responsibility to step up."
"Wait a second..." Ying Jiuming urgently waved his hands to interrupt. "Why does that sound so weird to me? I object; I do not agree." How would it look for a grown man to follow a young girl around every day?
"Don’t you want to catch the criminal, find the killer? You won’t be disappointed following her," Ning Di reasoned.
"That sounds logical." Ying Jiuming pondered and glanced at Ning Di. Then, slapping his thigh, he cursed, "Shit! I almost fell for it. Don’t think you can trick me."
"Come here." Ning Di grabbed Ying Jiuming by the shoulder and took him outside, and in less than ten minutes, they came back.
Ying Jiuming’s attitude had completely changed as he grasped Nan Fei’s hand earnestly, saying, "Don’t worry, Nan Fei! Leave your sister to me; I’ll make sure nothing goes wrong."
"Cough, cough..." Ning Di stared at Ying Jiuming holding Nan Fei’s hand, coughing incessantly. Seeing him not letting go, he couldn’t help but remind, "Ying Jiuming, our instructor isn’t here. Are you trying to reach for the sky? Hurry up, let go of her hand."
"Oh!" Ying Jiuming quickly let go and said awkwardly, "I wasn’t paying attention. Please don’t tell Bei Jiang when he comes back!"
"Don’t worry, I won’t," Nan Fei said, shaking her head with a smile. "I haven’t even thanked you for looking after my brother recently. Now I have to trouble you with my sister as well; I really am sorry."
"If you really feel sorry, just have Jiang Yang help me out more often in the future."
