Chapter 1200 - 1199 Warning

Chapter 1200: Chapter 1199 Warning

On the way to the military academy, Huo Bei Jiang personally applied medicine to Jiang Yang’s cheek. The transparent ointment felt cool on the face and worked perfectly.

"Do you know what to say when you see your sister?" Huo Bei Jiang asked with a serious face.

Jiang Yang looked at him, puzzled. "What should I say?"

Huo Bei Jiang pursed his lips, highly doubting how he hadn’t been irritated to death by his little brother-in-law.

Lu Jin, who was driving, wanted to laugh but couldn’t; it was painfully difficult to suppress. He had never before seen the boss so thwarted by anyone! It was one thing for his wife to be out of his control, but now even his little brother-in-law was proving difficult to handle.

Huo Bei Jiang’s piercing gaze swept over Lu Jin like a hawk, and he asked earnestly, "Are you laughing?"

"Absolutely not," Lu Jin retorted, as if joking that he’d rather die than admit it.

Huo Bei Jiang turned his gaze back and continued applying ointment to Jiang Yang. Although his expression was somber, his touch was gentler than ever. This was probably what it meant to love those associated with someone you cherished. Because he adored Nan Fei and held her dear in his heart, he was also kind to those important to her.

Looking at the stark imprint on Jiang Yang’s pale, tender face, Huo Bei Jiang’s expression gradually softened as he asked in a gentle voice, "Does it hurt?"

Jiang Yang gave him an unexpected glance and shook his head. "It doesn’t hurt anymore! Don’t worry," he said, pausing for a moment before adding specifically, "I won’t say anything in front of Sister Nan Fei, even though I don’t like you at all!"

A thirteen- or fourteen-year-old boy stating seriously that he didn’t like you at all didn’t annoy people; rather, it made him endearing.

Huo Bei Jiang couldn’t help but laugh, ruffling Jiang Yang’s hair and teasingly saying, "I know you only like your Sister Nan Fei."

Jiang Yang revealed a soft smile and affirmed, "I really like her!"

"That’s not right!" Huo Bei Jiang put the ointment back in the box and scrutinized Jiang Yang, dissatisfiedly stating, "You can’t ’really like’ her. You can only ’admire’ her—it’s the respect a brother has for his sister, understand?"

"Why?" Jiang Yang, hearing this for the first time, asked curiously.

"Me!" Huo Bei Jiang pointed solemnly at himself. "I am your brother-in-law, your sister’s man. In the whole world, only I can like your sister. And I am destined to monopolize all her love and joy."

Huo Bei Jiang’s demeanor had already replaced any sign of joking; his eyes were deep like a secluded pool, seemingly capable of drawing in one’s very soul. He crafted an illusion that one could sink into, never to reemerge.

Even Lu Jin, who was behind the wheel, sensed the seriousness filling the car, and his breathing became cautious.

All these changes stemmed from that last statement. It was no joke, nor a casual remark. It was Huo Bei Jiang’s vow, an expression of possessiveness that came from the depths of his heart.

Jiang Yang blinked, lifting his head to meet Huo Bei Jiang’s gaze. Their eyes crossed in midair, and unsurprisingly, the younger Jiang Yang was the first to look away.

"Got it, enough talk," Jiang Yang huffed unhappily, truly feeling a bit annoyed now.

The look his brother-in-law had given him earlier had the eerie effect of making him feel seen through. The stern demeanor of his brother-in-law imposed a pressure similar to that of Wei Qin. Under their gaze, it was as if his innermost thoughts were laid bare, and they knew he wasn’t just some foolish kid.

It felt like a warning: don’t play games, for you cannot escape their grasp.

For the rest of the journey, Jiang Yang, still fuming, turned his head to look out the car window, refusing to glance at Huo Bei Jiang again.
