Seeing his wife yawning continuously, Qi Taiguo said with an awkward smile, "Those foreign devils’ food just doesn’t fill you up, haha."

Cheng Su rolled her eyes and suddenly yelped, jumping up and running into the room.

Qi Taiguo was long accustomed to his wife’s exaggerated reactions. Cradling his bowl of noodle soup, he thought to himself how nothing could beat the hearty satisfaction of food from Huaxia Country.

Having eaten his fill and set down his bowl, Cheng Su handed him a box and glanced at the clock, saying, "It’s not yet midnight, husband, here’s your birthday present."

Qi Taiguo was taken aback, accepted the box, and upon opening it saw a Shanghai brand stainless steel watch inside.

"You even bought this? It must’ve been expensive!" he said with great reverence as he took it out.

"It’s not that expensive. For now, I can only buy you this Shanghai brand. Later, I will get you an Omega," Cheng Su said, taking the watch and helping him put it on. "Wow, it fits perfectly, no need to adjust the bracelet or anything. What do you think?"

Qi Taiguo twisted his wrist and nodded, "It fits just right."

Looking at it again and again, he found himself more delighted the longer he looked at it.

A man with a watch always finds it convenient, and besides, you can’t just buy a watch whenever you want nowadays. It’s a sure boost to one’s vanity.

"How did you get a watch coupon?" Purchasing a watch still required a coupon, which he hadn’t given Cheng Su.

Cheng Su said, "I swung by the supply and marketing co-op the other day, and the manager there gave it to me."

As she spoke, she briefly recounted the incident when she had shopped in a fit of anger and then put on her own matching watch, saying, "Look, they’re a pair!"

Qi Taiguo, having heard the story, was utterly shocked. She was angry at the time, yet she still thought of getting him a gift.

"Wife..." Qi Taiguo was deeply moved, and said, "I had no idea you still thought of me even when you were angry."

Qi Taiguo hastily nodded his agreement, "I will treat you well too."

Cheng Su then said contently, "Alright, wash your face, rinse your mouth, and let’s sleep. It’s midnight."

Qi Taiguo responded obediently.

A night of tenderness followed.

The next day, Cheng Su’s legs felt weak, but after the birthday celebration, their hearts had grown even closer. Every glance, every gesture between them was filled with tacit understanding and love.

Cheng Su also shared the cake with Chunhua and Guihua, saying somewhat sheepishly, "I should have given it to you last night, but it was late and I thought you might be asleep, so I waited until now. It’s cold out, so the cake hasn’t gone bad. If you’re not used to eating it, just throw it out."

Actually, she and Qi Taiguo were so affectionate that time just slipped by, and by the time she remembered, everyone had already gone to rest. How could she disturb them?

Chunhua and Guihua naturally didn’t mind and thanked her.
