Chapter 356: Chapter 356: May We Never Part Even in Old Age
Cheng Su said she’d leave the company in Ning Ge’s hands without a second thought, packed her bags, and jubilantly went off with Qi Taiguo to enjoy their long-overdue honeymoon.
That’s right, Cheng Su considered this little trip their honeymoon and even went to the trouble of renting an expensive camera from a photo studio in the city, buying film, and preparing beautiful clothes, planning to have a special photo shoot with Qi Taiguo!
Maple Leaf Town in Jing City lived up to its reputation. It was now late autumn, nearing winter, and the maple trees lining the streets were as red as fire, making the town look like something out of a fairy tale.
"Wow, it’s so beautiful here, Qi Taiguo, this place is so beautiful!" When Cheng Su saw the town, she was so thrilled that she was practically bouncing with joy, looking and wandering around, utterly delighted and content.
And as Qi Taiguo watched Cheng Su smiling with her eyes curving into crescents, looking like a young girl, he felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and pride, thinking to himself that his decision this time was indeed the right one, as he had never seen her so happy!
The two of them wandered about the town hand in hand like children, taking photo after photo, some solo, but mostly of each other together.
When they reached the Mother Maple Tree that the townspeople called the "Tree of Good Fortune," a massive tree adorned with red ribbons and leaves that glowed bright red like a huge red umbrella, they were in awe.
Cheng Su, arm in arm with Qi Taiguo, grinned and had a picture taken here. According to Cheng Su, she wanted to treat it as their wedding photo, to have it enlarged and hung up in their room by the photo studio.
"How about we go to the photo studio and take a wedding dress photo when we get back? I heard it’s trendy now to do that for a wedding!" Qi Taiguo felt a bit guilty.
Back when they first got married, he had been reluctant, and so they had simply gotten a marriage license. The idea of wedding photos was out of the question, as were wedding gifts.
Thinking about it now, he felt that he had been somewhat unfair to her. His initial attitude towards the marriage had been painfully wrong.
"No need, today’s wedding dresses aren’t that nice anyway. For now, having these travel photos washed and hung up is just as good. Later, when we have kids, we can wear a wedding dress and take a family photo," said Cheng Su, unconcerned.
Her indifference only made Qi Taiguo feel more remorseful, secretly vowing to treat her doubly well in the future, to really make it up to her.
"Wife, rest assured, I will treat you well!" Qi Taiguo exclaimed, holding her hand.
Cheng Su let out a mock yelp, teasingly saying, "When did you learn to speak so sweetly? Commander Qi, you’re making me nervous, did you do something you feel guilty about?"
There, the pleasant atmosphere was suddenly shattered by her jest.
Annoyed, Qi Taiguo poked her forehead, saying, "What kind of nonsense is going through your mind? I’m showing you my deep affection here, and you’re not following the script."
Cheng Su burst into laughter.
"Young people, write down your blessings and make a wish. The Old Maple Tree will bless you with love and a house full of children," an old lady not far away beckoned them with some red ribbons and a pen.
Cheng Su had already noticed the wishes hanging on the tree, asked for the price, bought a ribbon, wrote auspicious words on it, and even hid it to keep Qi Taiguo from seeing.
While she was away at the restroom, Qi Taiguo found the ribbon and read the words on it.
May Cheng Su and Qi Taiguo be blessed and love each other like at the beginning, never parting till old age.
He chuckled. Women are always so sentimental, he thought, yet he also felt as if something had struck his chest, a poignant swelling, and as he watched Cheng Su walk out of the restroom, his eyes were filled with tenderness.
