Chapter 969: Chapter 0969: Meeting the In-Laws 2

Jiang Xiaoyue sat on the sofa opposite him, resting her chin in her hands as she watched her dad eat with great enthusiasm.

"Dad, is it delicious?" she asked.

Jiang Yun nodded, "Delicious, the meat my old son brings back is of course delicious."

Even though he was a high-ranking officer, resources were tight at the moment. Even for him, eating meat was a once or twice a week luxury. As a leader, he had to set an example of putting others before himself, so this hard-to-come-by roasted lamb was a real treat.

"Not just the roasted lamb, even if you brought back a leaf of cabbage, it would be tasty," Jiang Yun added this immediately after.

Jiang Xiaoyue hummed in agreement, her eyes curving into smiles.

That was good, as long as her dad cherished her.

It took quite a while, but as her dad was halfway through his meal, Jiang Xiaoyue finally remembered how she should answer her old dad’s question. Clearing her throat, she said, "Dad, when are you resting? Will you be home next weekend? Someone wants to come and meet you."

"Who?" Jiang Yun asked casually.

It was common for people to come to their house to meet him; he was used to it.

When one is in a high position, one has no choice.

"Um..." Jiang Xiaoyue paused for a moment, her eyes shiftily darting around as she said softly, "I’ve found you a prospective son-in-law. His parents want to meet and talk to you, discuss our relationship."

"Pfft!"

Jiang Yun sprayed out a mouthful of wine, fortunately turning his head just in time to avoid splashing the table.

While coughing, he asked, "Prospective son-in-law? Old son, when did you find me a son-in-law? You’re telling me now that the elders need to meet when I just learned about you finding a son-in-law? Aren’t you rushing things?"

Jiang Xiaoyue kept a straight face, "I’m almost twenty years old, what’s wrong with having a boyfriend? It’s not against the law!"

"No! No! There’s nothing wrong with having a boyfriend. I’m asking, who is this guy?" Where did this pig rooting through the mud come from to mess with his bright and beautiful little cabbage?

Jiang Yun sharpened his metaphorical knife internally; he hadn’t heard a peep about his daughter submitting a romantic report to the military.

Once more clearing her throat, Jiang Xiaoyue continued, "You know him, old man, you have even praised him before. You said, some girl would be extremely lucky to marry him in her lifetime. Well, now you know, it’s your daughter who is that fortunate."

"Who is it, exactly?" Jiang Yun squeezed the words through his clenched teeth.

Young individuals he had praised? He had praised hundreds, if not a thousand. How could he possibly know which one his daughter was referring to?

Jiang Xiaoyue said crisply, "Lu Tianjun!"

"Lu Tianjun?" Jiang Yun echoed like a parrot, his eyes nearly popping out.

"Yes, him!" Jiang Xiaoyue cradled her face with happiness, "His parents, the army commander and Aunt Xue, happened to come to the Capital for some business today, and I just had hotpot and roasted lamb with them. Tianjun and I have affirmed our revolutionary feelings, and his parents said we should meet you and my older brother and sister-in-law to follow proper etiquette."

With frustration, Jiang Yun smacked his chopsticks down on the table, "That darn kid!"

After all the care he had shown him, all the praise he had lavished upon him, and the boy had quietly taken his pearl away. Seeing the look on his daughter’s face, she must have already given her heart to him!

"Dad, why scold him? He hasn’t offended you," Jiang Xiaoyue complained.

"Taking away my daughter is not offending me?" Jiang Yun snorted and then snorted again, "Did you two secretly submit a marriage report, is that what you call offending me? I’ll see how I settle the score with him!"
