Chapter 959: Chapter 0959 Capital Chronicle 7
"Eighty bucks, can’t go any lower," the young man said.
He had set up his stall for several days now, and no one had visited, simply because the current situation wasn’t good, and people were afraid to get involved with these old items. Everyone was selling, not buying. If he really could sell it, he wouldn’t have showed up at the old goods market at all.
"Sixty bucks, and I’ll take it off your hands right away, to bring home for my kids to play with," Feng Qingxue countered.
The young man’s eyes darted around, showing a pained expression, "Alright, alright, it’s a deal, it’s a deal, I’m taking a big loss here!"
After Lu Jiang paid the money, Feng Qingxue wrapped up the item haphazardly and placed it into Lu Jiang’s backpack.
"I have some more old goods back at home, all from wealthy households. Are you interested? If so, I can go get them right now." Coming across such easy marks who weren’t afraid of trouble, why wouldn’t the young man seize the opportunity?
Lu Jiang considered for a moment, then shook his head, "No need."
They had to know when to stop; buying too much or appearing too eager could arouse suspicion.
The young man’s expression of regret was unmistakable upon hearing the answer.
Even though Feng Qingxue felt it was a pity, she respected Lu Jiang’s decision. She also understood that they, as a couple, shouldn’t go too far in buying old goods and attracting too much attention.
So, as they continued their stroll, they only bought two more items before deciding to head back.
Although there were a few more black markets and other old goods markets that they hadn’t visited, their mission of rescuing cultural relics was essentially over for the time being. They would visit if they had time, but if not, they’d set off back home.
Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue were very aware that they shouldn’t linger in the area or regularly engage in activities that might draw attention.
After resting properly for a night, the next morning, the couple took a ride to Lu Tianjun’s military base.
Dressed in military uniform, Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue were quickly reported to Lu Tianjun.
"Uncle, Aunt!" Lu Tianjun’s excitement was unrestrained as he shouted and ran towards them, panting as he arrived and snapped to attention with a crisp military salute.
"Good lad!" Lu Jiang returned the salute, clapping his nephew’s shoulder firmly.
Feng Qingxue, however, tilted her head up to look at Lu Tianjun, her lips slightly parted, "Tianjun, I haven’t seen you for years, and you’ve grown as tall as your uncle."
She had to lift her head just to see Lu Tianjun’s face, causing her neck to ache.
To outsiders, Lu Jiang and Lu Tianjun nearly resembled a father and son, looking so alike with their height, long legs, sharp eyebrows, and bright eyes, and both had the same dark, rough skin and similar military demeanor. The only difference was that Lu Jiang was older, more mature and composed, with the presence of a high-ranking officer, his eyes already lined with wrinkles, while Tianjun appeared more youthful.
"Aunt, I’ve already grown up!" Lu Tianjun laughed.
"Yes, time flies, six or seven years have passed, and that scrawny boy has turned into a strapping young man!" Feng Qingxue exclaimed with satisfaction, "Are you off duty today? It’s the weekend, you should be off, right?"
"If it hadn’t been for uncle and aunt, I wouldn’t be where I am today," Lu Tianjun sincerely remarked, "I’m not on duty today."
"Not on duty? Great, great. First, take the things your uncle and I have prepared for you back to your dorm, and then join us for a meal outside," Feng Qingxue had already planned their day.
"Why don’t uncle and aunt come inside? It wouldn’t be right to just stand at the gate after coming all this way," Lu Tianjun hurriedly suggested.
