Ye Zhengjun did not choose a highly specified house for his wife. He thought it would be enough for the two elderly, with no children around, and thus chose the regiment commander’s level house behind Lu Jiang’s home.

Although it was cleaned up, the house was still empty.

After deciding to join the army, pots, bowls, and other utensils borrowed from the troops were gradually returned. Since Lu Jiang earned a good wage after joining, a batch of goods, including a whole set of utensils like vegetable knives, several enamel pots, enamel tanks, and other living necessities were purchased and placed in the store by Feng Qingxue.

So, it was Ye Zhengjun’s idea not to equip his house with those items from the army.

"My wife can’t cook. She only knows how to break dishes. When she comes, she will eat with me in the canteen. There’s no need to set up a separate kitchen. Just buy two enamel pots and two towels when she arrives," Ye Zhengjun said in a particularly loud voice, letting everyone know that Guo Cui could not cook and had no plans to start.

Having settled their luggage, Feng Qingxue invited Guo Cui to her house for tea.

Ordinary people may react poorly when they first arrive in a high-altitude area, so Feng Qingxue kept a special eye on Guo Cui’s condition.

"This is Rhodiola tea, you should try it," she said.

Feng Qingxue handed Guo Cui the enamel tank, but before she could take it, Xibao dragged her over to the stove to see his woven grass insects. Little Fatty showed them to Guo Cui saying, "Bug! Bug!"

Guo Cui was more than happy to play with Xibao, pointing things out to him one by one, "Baby, come, I’ll teach you about the bugs. "It was Wang Xiaowu, the one who herds sheep in the army. He weaved a basket of grass bugs for Xibao, who plays with them all day," Feng Qingxue couldn’t hide the surprised look on her face. "Sister-in-law, you recognize so many? I can’t recognize them all."

"I also come from the countryside, how could I not recognize them?" Guo Cui laughed.

Xibao, however, called them all "bugs," very insistently.

"Okay okay okay, it’s a bug, it’s a bug, they’re all bugs," Guo Cui agreed.

Feng Qingxue turned around to cook, but Ye Zhengjun and Lu Jiang came in from outside, each of them holding dishes they brought from the canteen.

"Stop cooking, the commander and I got two servings each from the canteen. Let’s make do with this for now. When I have a day off, we will prepare a feast to welcome sister-in-law," Lu Jiang said as he put the dishes on the table and moved it to the middle. He accidentally knocked off one of Xibao’s grass bugs, causing it to bounce from the table onto the floor.

Xibao didn’t see where it went and immediately started crying, "Bug! My bug!"

Guo Cui hurriedly picked it up for him, "Xibao, don’t cry, the bug’s here, it’s here. Look, is this your bug?"

Upon seeing it was indeed his bug, Xibao finally broke into a smile, took the bug into his hands and crawled to the inner side of the stove. There, he continued to play with his bugs and gathered all of his grass bugs into one spot.

Feng Qingxue took out some chopsticks and bowls, and the four of them sat down to eat.

No-one proposed washing their hands since water is very precious here.

Feng Qingxue sat at the most inside of the table, taking a bite for herself then feeding Xibao. Little Fatty gobbled delightfully and after swallowing, reminded Feng Qingxue saying, "Eat Guoguo!"
