"Have some water," said Feng Qingxue tilting the enamel mug gently towards his lips, watching him take several large sips.

"Qingxue, don’t just take care of me, sit and take a break. Have some water and an apple. You must be tired after the journey." Lu Jiang was no longer thirsty, but he became more talkative. "When did you arrive? You didn’t even let me know. Who told you about my injury? Was it Captain Zhao or Brother Ouyang? Did it take half a month on the train?"

Feng Qingxue sat on the chair next to the bed, "You have so many questions, which should I answer first?"

"Even if you don’t answer, I can guess most of them." Lu Jiang replied, his heart aching as he looked at her. She was even more beautiful than before they parted, breathtakingly ethereal, but she looked physically drained, the usual rosy complexion absent. Her clothes, creased and dusty indicated straight travel from the train, without proper rest.

If he could move from the bed, Lu Jiang would have liked nothing better than to hold her and to kiss her.

Feng Qingxue blushed slightly.

As clever as she was, how could she not understand Lu Jiang’s longing gaze?

After glancing around, she avoided eye-contact with Lu Jiang and said, "The journey was comfortable with good food and no struggles. Don’t make that face, as if I’ve been through a lot of hardships! How long have you been in the hospital? Will you continue staying here or recover at home? If discharged, is there any chance of returning home?"

"Doctor, what should he be mindful of usually? Are there any dietary restrictions? What can he eat to speed up wound healing?" Feng Qingxue stood by, watching while the doctor changed the dressing, repackaged Lu Jiang’s wound, and humbly asked for advice.

Lu Jiang immediately responded, "Doctor Guo, this is my girlfriend who just arrived today to visit me!"
