Chapter 1580: Chapter 1580: Mother and Child Reunion 1

Rong Yuan had a lot to say, and in his eagerness to find his brother, he poured everything out without holding back from start to finish while Li Jiaoyang repeatedly poured him water to soothe his throat.

"So, you’re really brothers?" Feng Qingyun asked incredulously, her face turning toward Li Jiaoyang.

She had thought she liked an orphan, but now she realized she might have to face a mother-in-law. What if Rong Yuan’s mother, Hu Lan, didn’t like her? She was so much older than Li Jiaoyang and planned to study abroad. By the time she returned, Li Jiaoyang would be in his thirties. Would General Rong and Li Jiaoyang think she’d delayed Li Jiaoyang’s chance to marry and have children?

"Don’t worry, I’m still me. Nothing has changed," Li Jiaoyang said, reaching out and holding her soft and slender hand.

He wasn’t eight, nor eighteen, but rather twenty-eight, as Rong Yuan had said. Nearing thirty, most of the people around him were already married and established in their careers. His thoughts had matured, and he wouldn’t let anyone else dictate his life.

Feng Qingyun’s heart suddenly felt at ease.

Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue, sitting on an empty bed nearby, gave full marks to Li Jiaoyang’s performance.

Rong Yuan glanced at their entwined hands and his eyes widened again. He hadn’t even found a wife, and his younger brother already had someone? "Brother, are you dating this female comrade? Isn’t she Lady Shanzha?"

He wanted to say that many soldiers in the army liked her, but seeing their hands intertwined, he swallowed those words quickly.

"Yes, she’s Lady Shanzha in the movies, but in real life, her name is Feng Qingyun. She’s the one I want to spend my life with."

Rong Yuan raised his uninjured arm and gave a thumbs-up. "Brother, you’re impressive, beating me to it! Mom and Dad are going to be so happy. Not only have they found the son they’ve been searching for all these years, but you’ve brought back a daughter-in-law too. Looks like I won’t be nagged about getting married anymore! Brother, well done. As for the wedding, I’ll give you a big gift."

"Thank you, big brother." Li Jiaoyang flashed a faint smile, without mentioning his girlfriend’s plan to study abroad, which would delay their wedding.

He had always known he wasn’t abandoned by his parents. It was just the chaos of war that made everyone powerless, so he quickly accepted Rong Yuan and their previously unknown parents.

"Since you’re calling me big brother now, little brother, I won’t hold back." Rong Yuan looked at him warmly. "Mom and Dad have been looking for you all this time, but the vast sea of people made it impossible to find even a trace over twenty-some years. If it wasn’t for Doctor Feng, we wouldn’t even know about your existence. I’d like to ask you, plead with you to go see Mom — meeting you will make her immensely happy."

Li Jiaoyang responded solemnly, "Don’t worry, big brother, I’ll go, and I should. But I’d like to stay here for a few more days to spend time with Yunyun. This is my first visit to pay respects to my sister and brother-in-law."

Rong Yuan was about to say that was fine when Feng Qingyun interjected, "There’s no rush on my end. You should go meet Hu Lan first."

She gently tapped Li Jiaoyang’s lips with her finger and said seriously, "We’ll have plenty of time together, but Hu Lan has been yearning to see you for over twenty years. She must want to see you as soon as possible."

"Alright, I’ll book a ticket to the Capital tomorrow," Li Jiaoyang nodded.

"Before that, though, you should call Mom first! The sooner she knows, the sooner she can be happy."

Li Jiaoyang agreed, "Okay, I’ll trouble my sister and brother-in-law in a little while to help me connect the call to our mother."
