Chapter 1309: Chapter 1309: The Seventies 4

It shouldn’t be the case, Xibao thought to herself.

With the teacher turning a blind eye, she had attended a few classes with other students who were still schooling. The textbooks were filled with contents like "Don’t forget the well-digger when you drink water" and "Sailing the seas depends on the helmsman." She remembered everything after listening just once, unlike the many different characters and languages her grandparents taught her, which she really liked. She also enjoyed learning painting, calligraphy, and mathematics from Grandpa Wen and Grandpa Jin.

When Lu Jiang’s father heard Xibao’s words, he was very surprised.

"You learn at home with your grandparents? You don’t live with your parents? Don’t you not want to leave your mother?" He could not believe his grandson’s decision and asked again, his eyes blazing as he looked at him.

"Mom learns from Grandpa too!" Xibao raised her eyebrows, pointing out the obvious fact, and then puffed out her chest, "I’ve grown up."

This implied that the grandparents were more impressive.

Moreover, in life, Feng Qingxue always showed great respect for these elders, and the reverence naturally influenced the child.

Feng Qingxue respected the child’s opinion more, "Let’s ask him again after the New Year’s celebration is over."

"That’s a good idea; maybe it’s just a whim," Lu Jiang’s father said. Although he was very concerned about his grandson’s studies, he also hoped that his son’s family could live together, as the affection from living together was very different from that when living apart.

Feng Qingxue was decisive and quick to act; she packed her things and was ready to go.

It was mainly because they were already used to comings and goings, but the triplets were especially excited.

When they returned from the army base, the triplets were just over one year old and not so curious about their surroundings. Now that they were over two years old and could express their own opinions, their incessant chatter was deafening.

The liveliest compartment on the train was probably theirs.

When passengers in adjacent compartments heard that the three children were triplets, they couldn’t resist coming over to see the rare sight.

In that era, it wasn’t that there were no triplets born; although very rare, there were almost none that were safely raised to adulthood.

"Where are you mothers off to with all these bags?" A middle-aged woman in her fifties named Jin Hongjun was holding Fubao and looking at the triplets fighting over toys on the lower bunk, then at Xibao reading a book on the upper bunk. She said to Feng Qingxue, "Your five children are truly lovable, each with their own charm. If my family had a child like this, I’d laugh out loud in my dreams."

Feng Qingxue smiled slightly, "That’s because you haven’t seen them being naughty and fighting; it can give you a headache."

After saying this, she answered Jin Hongjun’s question, "We’re going to Baozhou."

She only mentioned the destination, nothing else.

Jin Hongjun was somewhat disappointed, "Then you’ll be getting off before me. I really don’t want to part with these little treasures."

"Where are you headed?" Feng Qingxue asked in response.

"The Capital, I’m going to the Capital," Jin Hongjun’s face lit up with a smile. Among the five children, she particularly liked the delicate Fubao and continued, "I’ll leave you my address; don’t forget to write to me."

"Sure!" Fubao said loudly, as she was very fond of Jin Hongjun.

Feng Qingxue thought her encounter with Jin Hongjun was just a brief and casual meeting of strangers, never expecting to receive considerable help from Jin Hongjun and her husband in the near future. But her mind was currently preoccupied with Lu Jiang, who was coming to pick them up, so she hardly gave Jin Hongjun a second thought.

"Daddy!" Fubao ran hastily when she saw Lu Jiang.

Erxiong, not willing to be outdone, sprang up like a rabbit, "Me me me!"

Dundun and Zhuangzhuang were sucking on their fingers, their eyes whirling around. To tell the truth, they had no recollection of Lu Jiang, even if they saw his photo every day they couldn’t recognize him.

Photos and the real person were different after all, especially since Lu Jiang now looked quite weatherworn.

...I’ll update a bit for now, and come back around eleven o’clock for another wave of updates because I have to go out urgently.
