Chapter 1306: Chapter 1306: The Seventies 1

It wasn’t many days after Jiang He and Erya married that the snow melted, and it was New Year’s Day.

The Chapter belonging to the sixties thus came to a close, and the footsteps of history officially stepped into the seventies, turning over a new leaf.

The weather on New Year’s Day was particularly fine, with blue skies and white clouds, and the sunlight felt warm on one’s body. Villagers appeared in groups in front of and behind their houses, basking in the sun while chatting leisurely, their faces adorned with brilliant smiles.

Although the past year had seen its share of unseasonable weather and unfavorable rains, the harvest turned out to be satisfactory in the end, with no reduction in grain yield.

In the hearts of the common people, having grain spelled security.

Feng Qingxue asked Lu Tianzhi and Guan Yu to supervise the triplets playing at the door, while Lu’s father and Zhou Fengchun, along with the other elders, sat by the cattle shed door, keeping a close watch. Guan Cheng, Xibao, and Fubao were furthering their learning with Wen Ruyu and the other old folks.

After concentrating on calligraphy and painting for an hour, Qingxue stretched lazily.

Feeling quite satisfied with today’s detailed painting, she decided to show it to Wen Ruyu for his critique. Just as she was about to take the freshly dried scroll, she heard the crying of Dundun and Zhuangzhuang from the door.

At that moment, where could Qingxue’s concern for high-level painting be?

Flipping the curtain aside, she rushed out the door, releasing the curtain so quickly that it swung back fiercely.

By the time Qingxue reached the door, she saw Lu Tianzhi holding Dundun and Guan Yu holding Zhuangzhuang, both little guys rubbing their eyes and crying breathlessly. As for Xiongxiong, he stood proudly on the ground with his hands behind his back, like a little rooster celebrating victory.

"What happened?" Qingxue asked.

Lu Tianzhi hurriedly said, "It’s nothing, nothing, Auntie, just the kids fighting!"

"Who started it?" Qingxue asked, taking Dundun in one arm and reaching for Zhuangzhuang with the other. But the children were so heavily bundled that they were quite heavy, and she couldn’t hold them. So she squatted down and hugged both sons. "Dundun, Zhuangzhuang, tell Mom, why are you crying?"

The brothers pointed at Xiongxiong in unison, "Brother (Brother) hit me!"

Xiongxiong accused them first, "Mom, Mom, Dundun’s bad, Zhuangzhuang’s bad, they scratched my face, and it’s all scratched up."

Qingxue carefully looked and saw, indeed, two shallow scratches on the plump and fair face of the young boy—one near the nose on the left cheek and the other on the forehead, likely made by fingernails.

Fortunately, Qingxue was meticulous in her care—the children’s nails were all cut very short. If they had been long, Xiongxiong’s face might have been ruined.

"Brother snatched my... my big tiger!" Zhuangzhuang bravely reported.

Qingxue looked down and noticed that the cloth tiger her youngest son had been holding was missing. She put down the two boys, moved behind Xiongxiong, and sure enough, there was the faded cloth tiger in his hands; no wonder he was keeping his hands behind him instead of akimbo as usual.

"Erxiong!" Qingxue’s eyebrows shot up.

Xiongxiong looked up with an innocent smile, "Mom, I’ve been good!"

"Good my foot! Why did you snatch your brother’s cloth tiger? Where is your bear?" Qingxue remembered sewing a brown bear for Xiongxiong, aptly named, and he had always enjoyed playing with it.

Lu Tianzhi pointed to the ground with a nod of his chin, "There it is!"

Guan Yu went over to pick it up, and it was covered in mud. "It needs a wash. Erxiong, did you grab Zhuangzhuang’s tiger because your bear fell on the ground and got dirty?"

He felt he understood Xiongxiong very well, and as soon as he finished speaking, Xiongxiong indeed nodded as if it were a matter of course.
