Chapter 1300: Chapter 1300 The Affection in Adversity 4

Feng Qingxue stripped off the damp mattress pad and bed sheets, thankfully she had the foresight to lay a thin mattress pad on top of the bedding.

The damp mattress pad was draped over the fumigation basket to dry, while the bed sheets were tossed into the laundry basket. After washing her hands, Feng Qingxue finally prepared baby formula for the triplets. Although the bottles were identical, the formulas were different: Xiongxiong had Feihe, Zhuangzhuang had imported formula, and Dundun, not being fussy, drank the same imported formula as Zhuangzhuang, endearingly obedient, making Feng Qingxue feel both heartache and guilt.

Out of the five children, Dundun was the most neglected.

Xibao was Feng Qingxue’s first child, lavished with love and affection from a young age.

Fubao was the only girl in the Lu Family, delicate and exquisite. With only Xibao ahead of her, she was indulged in every way. She had never faced the slightest grievance until the triplets were born, when the adults’ attention shifted to them. By then, she had grown a bit older. Fortunately, despite her petulance, she was very sensible and took the initiative to help her mother care for her brothers.

When the triplets were born, Zhuangzhuang was the frailest and thus was particularly cherished. Feng Qingxue’s thoughts and concerns were constantly on him. She didn’t even breastfeed Dundun and Xiongxiong; the two children were essentially raised with the help of everyone else.

Among them, Xiongxiong was mischievous and trouble-making, driving everyone to monitor him closely to prevent any harm to his siblings born in the same litter.

Only Dundun lacked an elder brother’s abundant affection, a sister’s uniqueness, wasn’t bad enough like Xiongxiong to keep everyone on their toes, and wasn’t as fragile as Zhuangzhuang to stir empathy.

He was like an invisible child, slowly growing up on his own resilience.

Feng Qingxue felt a prickling in her eyes, feeling very sorry for her son, and couldn’t help squatting down in front of him, "Dundun, what do you want to eat tonight? Shall Mom make it for you?"

"Yes!" Xiongxiong handed his empty bottle to his mother, responding crisply, "Egg pancake, egg pancake!"

Feng Qingxue took the bottle to prevent him from throwing it, and said irritably, "I was asking Dundun, not you. Erxiong, what’s the hurry in answering? You had eggs this morning. No eggs for you tonight. You’ll just have plain noodles in water!"

Lu Erxiong sat down on the spot, legs splayed, with his little bird showing beneath his open-crotch pants, and started to rub his eyes with both hands.

"Mom won’t feed me!" He screeched twice without a tear on his face, and seeing his mother smiling at his brothers, the little fellow felt indignant. He got up, patted the dust off his butt, and on the fly, grabbed the small satchel Xibao had outgrown and had been given to them to play with, currently placed by the head of the bed, slinging it around his neck, "I’m running away from home!"

"Go ahead," Feng Qingxue said on purpose.

The little guy puffed out his chest and held his head high. Before pushing the cotton curtain aside to leave, he turned back and announced, "I’m running away from home!"

Feng Qingxue hummed in acknowledgment, "I know, off you go."

Xiongxiong stormed out, pushing the curtain aside angrily.

The door of the main house was bolted, and Feng Qingxue was not worried at all about him running off on his own.

Xibao and Fubao both woke up one after another. Lu Tianzhi was giving them water to drink in the main house. As the two children drank, he combed Fubao’s hair into little braids. Seeing the proud and chesty Erxiong, he couldn’t help but laugh, "Erxiong, where are you off to?"

"I’m leaving home!" Xiongxiong shouted loudly, "Mom doesn’t want me anymore!"

Fubao swung her legs twice on the chair and tapped her chin with her tender fingers, "It must be because you’re not behaving! You can go starve on your own. No one outside will give you formula, they won’t feed you, and you’ll turn into a frozen little bear!"
