Chapter 1202: Chapter 1202: Applying for Discharge 1

Lu Jiang didn’t get to say a word, and just like that, the incident was over.

At night, when he went to the cafeteria to get food, and on his way to deliver it to the hospital, Lu Jiang heard that Niu Jinhua’s daughter-in-law was in trouble.

The main reason was improper postpartum care, no, it should be said there was no care at all.

Seeing her grandson’s face turning purple from suffocation, Niu Jinhua focused solely on getting him to the hospital. With the child in critical condition, she was frantic with worry and completely forgot about her daughter-in-law who had just given birth!

Guo Xiuying and Wang Sanbao saw the child but not the mother. Remembering that Niu Jinhua’s son Dong Qiquan was out on a mission and had not returned, the sisters feared something might happen to the mother alone at home. They immediately sent two nurses to our house. Fortunately, they arrived in time. The mother’s placenta had not been expelled properly, and there were already signs of bleeding. If no one had arrived soon, the mother would have undoubtedly died!

Niu Jinhua came back home and didn’t see her daughter-in-law, and started yelling at the door until a neighbor told her of her daughter-in-law’s whereabouts. She then went back to the hospital, looking for her daughter-in-law in a dejected state.

It was like a farce, and Niu Jinhua became a laughingstock in many people’s eyes; it was the mother and child who suffered.

Half a month later, when the doctor announced that Zhuangzhuang could be discharged, Feng Qingxue and Lu Jiang took him and left without looking back. They didn’t want to come back to the hospital ever again.

It wasn’t until Zhuangzhuang was able to smile at everyone that Feng Qingxue suddenly fell ill.

She had already been considerably weakened by childbirth, and even though she took an extended postpartum resting period, her vitality and blood had not been fully replenished. She had been worried about Zhuangzhuang all along, and now, due to the stress and anxiety over her child’s illness, she had been enduring miserably for more than twenty days. How could she possibly hold on any longer? She had not dared to collapse when Zhuangzhuang’s illness was severe because she feared his condition might worsen if she did.

Now that Zhuangzhuang was better, she could no longer withstand the onrushing illness, experiencing dizziness, blurred vision, and shortness of breath.

Lu Jiang was heartbroken, and had intended to request sick leave on her behalf, so he took all the leave he could without neglecting his duties.

Feng Qingxue grabbed his hand and looked at him with tired eyes, "I want to apply for discharge from the military!"

"What?" Though Feng Qingxue had discussed this matter with Fang Ning, she hadn’t mentioned it to Lu Jiang, so his surprise was genuine when he suddenly heard it, "You want to apply for discharge?"

"Yes, apply for discharge. I won’t work anymore, even if everyone says I’m wasting the nation’s training, I’ll accept that criticism. To me, work will never be as important as my child; I don’t possess the kind of overarching altruism that many do. All I know is that when my child is sick, I am a mother, and I should be responsible for him because I brought him into this world."

After what Zhuangzhuang had been through, she had already made her decision, "I will continue to study medicine while taking care of the child, never giving up. If the nation needs me, once the child is grown, I will certainly obey the order without hesitation."

Lu Jiang nodded, "Okay!" He supported his wife’s every decision unconditionally.

He could support his wife and child; whether his wife worked or not didn’t matter to him, because he knew her character well and had never said an extra word about her job.

The truth was, the idea of her requesting discharge for the sake of their child deeply moved Lu Jiang.

Of course, they couldn’t apply for discharge on the ground of the child’s serious illness; they had to say it was Feng Qingxue who was seriously ill and needed a long-term recuperation, making her unable to fulfill her current duties for the time being.

Feng Qingxue had not been enlisted for long and could only take a few months of sick leave at most, but her illness required long-term care.
