Chapter 1144: Chapter 1144: Chaos With Chickens Flying and Dogs Jumping 5

Xibao, anxiously cradling his chin with one hand and gently poking his younger brother’s cheek with the other—specifically the one who was crying the loudest—thought this little brother was quite impressive.

After examining Feng Qingxue, Doctor Liao reiterated, "The same as I’ve said before, your vitality has been injured. You’ll need to take very good care of yourself for several years and not overexert yourself."

"Don’t worry, Doctor Liao, I will certainly pay attention to this," Lu Jiang promptly assured.

Doctor Liao nodded and then proceeded to examine the three babies. Removing his stethoscope, he stated, "There’s no need to talk about the third and fourth, they’re very healthy and will start eating soon after birth. As for this little one..."

"What’s wrong with Xiaowo?" Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue asked in unison.

Doctor Liao pondered for a moment, choosing not to mention the child’s congenital weakness or his heart and lung functions not being as good as his brothers’. Instead, he said directly, "I’ll have Doctor Zhang from pediatrics come to see him later. In our military unit, Doctor Zhang is the authority."

A surge of concern shot through Feng Qingxue’s heart. "Please do trouble yourself then, Doctor Liao."

"No need for formalities, this is our duty." Doctor Liao glanced at his watch. "It’s past seven-thirty, I need to have my meal and then continue rounds. You both take a good rest. Especially you, Qingxue, eat something and rest well."

It wasn’t long after he had seen her out that Tian Ling brought over breakfast.

First was Feng Qingxue’s brown sugar millet porridge, followed by Lu Jiang’s baked pancake and Fubao’s egg custard, and Xibao’s scallion pancake.

"I’ve made another bowl of brown sugar egg fluff for Qingxue, not a whole egg, as it’s easier to digest. I’m just worried that the millet porridge won’t be filling enough. She has to nurse three babies now; without a proper diet, how will she have enough milk for the children?" Tian Ling had been ecstatic—and admittedly envious—upon hearing that Feng Qingxue had given birth to triplets the moment she stepped into the hospital.

"Sister Tian Ling, you’re in charge of the cooking. I don’t understand the postpartum diet, so just prepare whatever is best for Qingxue to eat."

Lu Jiang took the lunchbox wrapped in a small cotton blanket from Tian Ling’s basket and opened it to find it filled with thick, brown sugar millet porridge topped with a layer of congealed millet oil.

"Qingxue, have some porridge first," said Lu Jiang as he spoon-fed her, following the porridge with the brown sugar egg fluff.

The egg fluff was whipped to tiny pieces and wasn’t too much in quantity, but it left Feng Qingxue just full enough.

Having helped the Lu Family for so long, Tian Ling had a precise understanding of Feng Qingxue’s appetite.

After Xibao finished his egg pancake and drank his butter tea, Fubao was still sound asleep. Neither the sound of her brother’s crying nor the grown-ups talking managed to wake her, so Tian Ling kept the covered porcelain bowl filled with egg custard snuggly wrapped in the small cotton blanket.

"Sister, such a lazy bug!" Xibao teased, urging Lu Jiang to move the chair in front of their mother’s bed so he could sit on it himself.

Soon after, Shang Kun arrived with the brown sugar millet porridge that Yang’s mother had stewed and the paper and pen Lu Jiang had requested.

"I’ve already notified all the cooking squads. All pig’s trotters will be reserved for your sister-in-law. We’ll cook them and deliver the soup here. Just remember to pay for them, Colonel Lu."

Even though pig’s trotters weren’t expensive, mere dimes, they had to follow the rules.

Lu Jiang expressed his gratitude, "I’ll spare you the pleasantries. Once I’ve finished writing the leave report, could you please submit it to the unit? Whether it’s approved or not, have Zhou Rong come and let me know."

"That’s the spirit!"

Shang Kun took the leave report Lu Jiang had written, and not long after, Doctor Liao returned with Doctor Zhang.

After examining Xiaowo, Doctor Zhang directly told Lu Jiang and Feng Qingxue, "The mother and the three babies will stay in the hospital. When I say you’re ready, that’s when you’ll be discharged. Especially with this little one, you must take extra special care of him."
