Chapter 1133: Chapter 1133: Triplets 4
"But I like perfection in beauty," Feng Qingxue pouted and simply placed the mirror face down on the kang table.
She did not want to look anymore, the more she looked, the sadder she got.
Men would never understand a woman’s heart that longed for beauty.
Lu Jiang, at a loss for words from his wife’s rebuff, spontaneously picked up his daughter, who was playing beside him, and hugged her, "Fubao, do you think Mommy is pretty? Isn’t she the most beautiful mommy in the world?"
"Mommy is pretty, Mommy is really pretty!" Fubao smiled sweetly, "Fubao looks like Mommy, and is very pretty too."
Feng Qingxue stared at her husband and daughter, no sweet words were enough to soothe her sorrow.
Lu Jiang lowered his head, and Fubao looked up, both of them sticking out their tongues.
"By the way, where’s Xibao?" Feng Qingxue belatedly realized that someone was missing from the house.
In the past few days, Lu Jiang had been at home taking care of her and the children. She had to get up several times at night and did not sleep well, so she woke up late in the morning. It seemed that she hadn’t seen Xibao since she opened her eyes today.
The thought of Xibao out of her and her husband’s sight immediately alarmed Feng Qingxue.
"Don’t worry, don’t worry, I asked Zhou Rong to take him out to play." Zhou Rong was the guard assigned to Lu Jiang by the military, the best in the guard battalion, and Xibao especially enjoyed playing with him, "By the way, the other day when I took the kids to see a performance, I thought I saw Xiaoyun in a choir. Xibao, with her sharp eyes, kept calling out for her aunt. What’s all this about?"
Feng Qingxue slapped her forehead, "Look at how forgetful I am; it’s like my brain has been eaten by a dog. I forgot to tell you. Captain Yang and Fang Ning are really fond of Xiaoyun’s singing. They say she has the makings of a great soprano. Xiaoyun likes singing too, so she joined the cultural work group."
Lu Jiang nodded and said, "That’s good, it saves Xiaoyun from staying at our uncle’s house all the time, making you worry every day."
"It’s just too hard. The moral atmosphere of the cultural work team has always been criticized. I don’t know if Xiaoyun joining the military was the right move. I just hope that under our protection, she’ll keep her integrity, like Captain Yang and Fang Ning, and remain ’unstained by the mud’."
"Our children won’t be lacking in character or heart; you just focus on taking care of your pregnancy, don’t worry too much," Lu Jiang consoled.
Feng Qingyun was busy with training and had no time to visit her older sister, while Lu Jiang, after a few days of rest, threw himself into work, dealing with the mess Hen Xiangqian left behind during his tenure. He was constantly traveling between the command headquarters and the camp, extremely busy.
Before beginning his work, he especially hired Tian Ling to help Feng Qingxue with laundry, cooking, tidying the house, and caring for the children, paying her thirty yuan a month.
After the Jiu siblings were taken back by Jiu Hong and his wife, Tian Ling found herself without anything to do.
She wanted to find a job at the nursery to supplement the household income, but unfortunately, the nursery was full of relatives of military personnel. Although she and her husband Zhuo Ran were childless, they both had parents back in their hometown. Her siblings looked after her own parents, and her husband’s younger brother looked after his, so the couple couldn’t take care of their parents and would send back some living expenses from time to time.
Zhuo Ran’s rank had just reached the standard for military dependents, and he hadn’t been in the military long enough to have much in terms of subsidies. The two of them could live comfortably on their own, but sending money back home made their life rather tight.
So, Tian Ling, who was particularly fond of children, readily agreed to Lu Jiang’s request.
"Major Lu, don’t worry, I’ll make sure the house is clean and tidy, and I’ll take good care of the adults and children," she promised.
It was much easier than doing manual labor back home, and the thirty yuan a month was enough to send back for living expenses for both sets of parents.
