Chapter 94: Chapter 93: Worrying About Other Issues
Online, the footage of the mudslide was spreading like wildfire.
As the guests scrolled through their mobile phones, the horrifying images left them petrified.
"Mianmian, we’re so lucky to have you," Liu Hui said gratefully to Mianmian. "Without you, our chances would have been slim."
Xu Weiwei also said, "Thank you, really thank you, it was terrifying. My son and I have so much to thank you for."
Mianmian listened to Liu Hui and Xu Weiwei’s thanks but did not take credit for herself.
"You don’t need to thank Mianmian. The disaster wasn’t supposed to strike our village in the first place," Mianmian said, frowning slightly. "I don’t know which bad person is behind this."
Liu Hui and Xu Weiwei exchanged glances, unsure how to respond to her remark.
They were mortals, after all, and did not understand these matters; all they knew was that a natural disaster was imminent, and Mianmian had helped them escape calamity. She was their savior.
Only Su Chenfei and Chu Ye, father and son, were deep in thought, frowning.
The live-stream was public, meaning not only could netizens see what Mianmian was doing and where she was, but the so-called Sect master and those previously captured people could see it all as well.
The shift in the mudslide’s location could very well have been that person’s doing.
He must have seen Mianmian as a significant threat and, not wanting to confront her directly, attempted to alter the location of the natural disaster in an attempt to harm her.
And he would surely use the same method in the future.
Luckily, Little Auntie could foresee it and expose his scheme.
Su Chenfei felt a similar concern as he looked at Little Auntie, who was furrowing her brow. "It’s okay, Little Auntie. You managed to foresee the disaster this time. You’ll definitely be able to do it again next time, there won’t be any issues," he consoled.
After hearing her seventh grandchild’s reassurances, Mianmian continued to frown. "No, Mianmian is worried about something else."
Her mother said disasters that claimed the lives of people and living creatures were arranged by the Heavenly Grandfather. In the stories her mother told, some Xuanmen scholars saved many lives during disasters, and though those people survived, the scholars themselves died, burdened by heavy karmic debts. Others did the same, and instead of dying, they were blessed with merit and ascended on the spot.
Each situation was different, and it was difficult to change the course of fate with one’s own power, but the choice to save people or not was still one’s own.
This mudslide wasn’t supposed to happen in that village, and by saving the people there, she had realigned their fates back onto the original path.
But what about the people in the village where the disaster was originally meant to strike?
Would Heavenly Grandfather do something to cause trouble for those villagers again? And as for the person who shifted the disaster, he must carry his own karma!
Mianmian looked up at the people around her. With her Heavenly Eye activated, she could see different things on each person. Except for Chu Ye, whose aura she could still not see clearly, the rest appeared back to their normal state.
She wanted to see how the people in the village initially targeted by the mudslide were faring now!
As for the person who had transferred the disaster, how he managed to do it, or where he might be, Mianmian had no idea and couldn’t figure it out.
Since that was the case, she decided to stop worrying about that for now and see what she might be able to see.
"Mianmian wants to go to Yide Village in Si’an Town, Longtai City tomorrow! Is that okay?"
Mianmian looked up at Su Chenfei with her big eyes full of hope.
Su Chenfei smiled. "Of course, Little Auntie. Wherever you want to go is fine."
After agreeing with Mianmian, Su Chenfei went to negotiate with Director Hu, expressing his desire to visit that village.
Director Hu hesitated.
Now that his chosen village had been inundated by the mudslide, the Su Family had promised to help with the aftermath, and the villagers had agreed, so he didn’t have to worry about it at all. In fact, he was considering whether to continue filming in the small town or to choose another nearby village, as he had already communicated well with the local leaders.
He had not expected that Little Auntie would request to go to a village in a neighboring city.
The two cities were close, just an hour by train, and about three hours to that village. Should he film on the way there, rush to change the shooting location, or let Little Auntie go by herself?
"Let me think this over first."
The director took out his mobile phone and started searching for information about the village.
He soon discovered that there was very little information about Yide Village on the internet. Looking at the map, the village was indeed enveloped in the mountains, a very small mountain village.
With such a big controversy over the mudslide, it was odd that no netizens claimed to be from Yide Village.
Maybe they should really change the shooting location riding on the hype?
Director Hu was someone who acted as soon as he decided, otherwise he wouldn’t have acquired the nickname Hu Haohao. Once he made a decision, he began to reach out through his contacts, applying to shoot the remaining duration of the show in Yide Village.
"We’re leaving tomorrow, heading to Yide Village to shoot the rest of the show!"
Liu Hui and Xu Weiwei had no objections.
They had signed a shooting agreement, which clearly stated in black and white that they were to follow the director’s arrangements.
The director had originally planned to go by car, but the next day, they saw Su Chenjin, the eldest of the Su Family, at the hotel.
The head of the richest family appeared even in a remote small town’s setting dignified and aloof, an aura that was intimidating. Not only did he have an outstanding demeanor, but he was also good-looking. The features that bore a slight resemblance to Su Chenfei were exquisite, and when his deep eyes looked at someone, it was as if they could peer into the depths of one’s soul.
"Mr. Su, hello," Director Hu was very comfortable around Su Chenfei, but now that he was in front of Su Chenjin himself, he didn’t dare to be as unrestrained and seemed a bit reserved.
After all, they were not acquainted.
While Su Chenjin was listening to his assistant’s reports, he slightly curled his lips and said, "Uncle, there’s no need to be so polite, just call me by my name."
Director Hu was taken aback, confused by the respect in Su Chenjin’s tone.
It was their first meeting, why was Su Chenjin so polite to him, even calling him "uncle"... wait a moment.
Director Hu remembered the joke he’d made with Mianmian and finally understood the situation. Since the Little Auntie had called him nephew, how could Su Chenjin, as her seventh grandchild, not call him uncle?
Good gracious, he’d teased a child and actually ended up with a relative from a family of tycoons?
Since Su Chenjin had already set such a polite tone, Director Hu’s courage grew, and he inquired, "What brings my grandnephew here?"
Su Chenjin whispered something to his assistant before replying to Director Hu, "I missed Little Auntie, came to visit."
That was indeed the truth.
The Su family had all seen the footage of the mudslide incident, and it was terrifying.
After some analysis, they arrived at the same conclusion as Su Chenfei. The things written in Uncle Zeng’s letter, about the Su family being targeted, were true. The person wanting to go against the Su family was now starting to target the Little Auntie.
After such a big incident, it was imperative to check on Little Auntie, especially since Su Chenfei was unreliable.
"Ah, you came to see Little Auntie. She might need to sleep a bit longer, so you might have to wait a while longer, my grandnephew." Director Hu quickly went along with it, not addressing her as "Little Auntie"—a term which could either be a genuine family title or a respectful term for an unmarried girl—and straightforwardly called her ’Little Aunt’.
Tea was served.
Su Chenjin took a sip and his expression could be described as quite amiable, "Hmm, I heard from the seventh grandchild that you have decided to go to Yide Village? I’ll send you there by helicopter and provide a few people as well."
As Su Chenjin spoke, ten muscular men stood before Director Hu. They clearly looked like capable fighters, strong men with protruding arm muscles.
Director Hu guessed that they were bodyguards hired by the Su Family. Since they were sent by Su Chenjin, it was clear that they were meant to protect Little Auntie and Su Chenfei.
And incidentally, they benefitted as well.
"Thank you, my grandnephew." Director Hu smiled as brightly as a flower.
Having more crew members was always better. More people to order around meant they were in luck. Plus, he didn’t have to pay their salaries, which made the thought even more pleasant.
