Chapter 484: Chapter 483: Show Mianmian Your Strength

Mianmian’s comment left those who had called her selfish with nothing to say.

Hu Xiaohong was also shocked to the core.

He didn’t expect Mianmian to bring this up on her own. Who would push away such an advantage?

But Mianmian did exactly that, even turning her head to ask, "I’m done speaking, Xiaohong, what do you want to say?"

Still in a state of surprise, Hu Xiaohong was at a loss for a while before she came around and said, "I want to say the same as you, you have an extra person on your side, which isn’t fair to everyone."

"Oh!" Mianmian nodded, "Then it’s up to Director Hu to decide how to handle this."

Hu Zhengguo chuckled twice, and then he began to address Mianmian’s question: "I did consider this matter, and I was wondering who would take the initiative to mention it. I didn’t expect Little Auntie herself to bring it up, and Hu Xiaohong too, willing to speak out."

He paused, stroking his goatee: "Giving White Dragon to someone he doesn’t know, I guess he wouldn’t like that. He was so sad on the plane just because he had to sit next to someone unfamiliar. So, I was planning on having Yang Xian take care of White Dragon, forming a pair of guests, but Yang Xian had previously turned down my Variety Show invitation."

"I brought this up because I hope everyone can discuss it together. After all, the situation is as it is, and we can’t have White Dragon or Mianmian sit out the event, right?"

Director Hu’s goatee-stroking gesture really resembled that of a cunning villain from a TV drama.

The comments on the live feed were also saying that his role was clear, obviously he was scheming.

What was the scheme? Of course, it was to make Yang Xian become a guest on the show.

The audience didn’t know why Yang Xian had refused, but they were curious to see now that Yang Xian was put on the spot whether he would agree or not.

Mianmian was also looking at Yang Xian, the request in her gaze clear.

Not just Mianmian, everyone present was looking, waiting to see how Yang Xian would respond.

Yang Xian’s eyebrows slightly raised as he said to Hu Zhengguo, "If I refuse now, would it be too disrespectful to you?"

Hu Zhengguo slapped Yang Xian’s shoulder, laughing heartily to gloss over it, "How could that be? Aren’t we just having a discussion? Look at you, you’re already here accompanying Little Auntie anyway, you even became a staff member, so becoming a guest isn’t much different, right?"

Despite his words, Director Hu was still worried Yang Xian might refuse.

He had originally approached Su Chenjin, and when Su declined, that’s when he considered having Yang Xian accompany Mianmian.

Who would have thought Yang Xian would refuse so bluntly and then, out of nowhere, a foreign friend wanted to accompany Mianmian on the Variety Show? Plus, with Little Auntie joining the show and bringing an extra person, it sparked his plan to make Yang Xian -- the one who had rejected him -- a guest on his show after all.

After all, what’s the harm to Yang Xian in gaining fame?

Didn’t Situ Zha and his mother agree to him immediately after discussing it?

The more Director Hu thought about it, the more justified he felt, looking at Yang Xian with a gaze that seemed to say, "You should just agree."

Yang Xian looked down at Little White Dragon.

"If I say ’yes’ it won’t do, we need Little White Dragon to agree, too."

Becoming guests needed to be the will of both parties; it wasn’t enough for just one to agree.

Yang Xian’s concern wasn’t unfounded; Little White Dragon had already shown a reluctance to be apart from Mianmian.

He was clutching Mianmian’s hand, his fair face full of grievance. Without a word, he just looked at Mianmian.

Mianmian appeared to be in a quandary.

She had always respected others’ wishes. If Little White Dragon didn’t want to part with her, then forming a team with Yang Xian was out of the question. This would still leave their team with an unfair advantage over the other teams.

So Mianmian turned to Director Hu, "Then how about I just don’t join a team? Let Charlie and Little White Dragon team up, and I’ll just play alongside them, is that okay?"

Director Hu shook his head, refusing.

Yang Xian had already agreed; he couldn’t give up this opportunity!

So, Little White Dragon had to be convinced!

Thinking this, Director Hu pulled Little White Dragon aside. He decided to make an earnest attempt to persuade the boy in order to achieve his goal.

When speaking to Little White Dragon, he made a special point of ensuring that nobody else would overhear.

Little White Dragon, suddenly pulled away from Mianmian by Director Hu, frowned instinctively, ready to throw a water balloon at Director Hu. But then he heard Director Hu say, "Do you want Mianmian to like you more? To think of you as a very cool kid?"

How could he not want that?

Little White Dragon put away the water balloon.

Seeing the change in Little White Dragon’s expression, Director Hu seized the moment, "If you do, then we need to do things that match our gender! Be a strong and independent man! If you’re always holding Mianmian’s hand, how can she take you seriously? Mianmian will gradually think you’re weak and won’t pay you any mind, but a boy needs to make a girl feel she can rely on him."

Director Hu pointed at Situ Zha, trying to use him as an example.

"Look at him, he definitely wants to play with Mianmian too, to be in the same class at school with her. But is he clingy? No! He’s strong, that’s why Mianmian doesn’t look down on him!"

Little White Dragon was taken aback by Director Hu’s words.

The closer he tried to get to Mianmian, the less she would think of him?

Was this true or just talk?

At first, he wasn’t used to life after waking up, but then it became purely not wanting to be too far from Mianmian. If what Director Hu said was true, then he really should learn to stand on his own two feet.

"Standing on your own starts with trusting Mianmian’s friends," Director Hu pointed at Yang Xian, "Look at him, he is a friend that Mianmian trusts."

Little White Dragon nodded silently, "Then I’ll go with him."

"Right, that’s the spirit. You have to show Mianmian your skills at finding seafood, understand?" Director Hu boosted Little White Dragon’s confidence further.

Little White Dragon nodded again.

Competing at finding seafood? Truly, if it came down to a contest, Mianmian wouldn’t stand a chance against him. But he only wanted Mianmian to see he could manage without her, not to make her lose.

Having made up his mind, Little White Dragon walked over to Mianmian: "Mianmian, I, I’ll team up with Yang Xian, we’ll, we’ll go find seafood together."

Mianmian took her hands away from her ears.

She had plugged her ears! When Director Hu said not to listen, she obediently didn’t.

Now that Little White Dragon had been persuaded, Mianmian was curious, "What did he say to get you to agree?"

Director Hu answered for Little White Dragon, "You’ll see later when you watch the replay, haha, now that an agreement’s been reached, let’s move to the next step."

Since they were moving to the next step, Mianmian had to be like any other child.

She swallowed a medicinal pellet, making sure her senses would be like those of an ordinary person for the entire day.

Director Hu then explained the rules for the seafood hunt at sea.

Everyone was to draw cards to determine their starting area, and the seafood within that area belonged only to that area’s owner. As for spots outside those areas, it was free game; whoever saw seafood first could claim it and compete freely.

After drawing cards and selecting their respective areas for the sea hunt, everyone took the baskets provided by the production team and headed to the seashore to begin.
