Chapter 390 - 389: I Didn’t Drug the Wine

Chapter 390: Chapter 389: I Didn’t Drug the Wine

"Are you really Rose?" Su Chenyan questioned, "How can I believe you are Rose?"

Just as he voiced his doubts, someone else entered the sink area.

Rose stopped writing on the mirror. She waited until the person entered a toilet stall before continuing to write: "The day before yesterday, you wore black bullet briefs; the day before that, blue underwear; and the day before that, red ones! You have two black moles under your left butt cheek."

Su Chenyan: ...

He believed it, he really did!

Apart from his family, no one knew he had moles on his bottom.

As creatures that could phase through walls, it was normal for ghosts to see him undressed. His Little Auntie even placed some objects at home to prevent other ghosts from causing trouble. This meant, other than his Little Auntie’s ghostly friends, no other ghosts could have done this.

Su Chenyan shivered.

Ghosts indeed were frightening, spying on him while he bathed!

In fact, the moment he saw the writing on the mirror, his legs had already begun to shake; it was only pride that forced him to keep calm in front of others.

Now certain of Rose’s identity, Su Chenyan washed his face and stared at his reflection in the mirror.

The red wine was placed on the table, with Liao Ran sitting beside it. The wine had been tampered with, and other than Liao Ran, no one else could have done it.

But why would Liao Ran do such a thing?

Su Chenyan couldn’t figure it out.

He clenched his fists, his muscles tense from his foul mood, and his brows furrowed.

Preparing to head to Linhai City for a skateboarding competition, yet unable to stop thinking about Liao Ran on the way there, Su Chenyan had a hunch he might have fallen for Liao Ran.

This affection might have been unexpected, but once his heart was set in motion, he could only accept it.

Su Chenyan didn’t want to compete while being so distracted, so he decided to fly back. He originally thought, since his Little Auntie didn’t say anything strange, it proved Liao Ran was fine.

So annoying!

Su Chenyan, with a stern face, exited the washroom.

As a well-built man of one meter eighty-eight who exercised regularly, with a skin tone two shades darker than the average person, his expressionless face was quite intimidating.

For a moment, both men and women who encountered him on the road sidled past him, shriveling up and cautious not to provoke Su Chenyan for fear of being hit.

Su Chenyan walked up to the table without sitting down, instead standing in front of Liao Ran.

Liao Ran, nerves focused on the glass of red wine, suddenly noticed a large shadow beside her. Looking up and seeing Su Chenyan, she smiled and said, "Chenyan, you’re back? Why don’t you sit down?"

Su Chenyan didn’t respond, instead, just staring at Liao Ran.

Rose and Phoenix Fairy floated in mid-air, both spirits watching Su Chenyan intently.

"What do you think Su Chenyan will do?" Rose asked Phoenix Fairy.

Phoenix Fairy furrowed their brows, worry evident on a face that could belong to either gender: "I don’t know, I’m afraid he’ll do something foolish."

Mianmian had said there was a red thread tied to both of them. Phoenix Fairy couldn’t see the red thread, but that didn’t stop them from empathizing with the stories of lovelorn men and women they had heard in the Theater.

Love can render one blind.

With a red thread between Su Chenyan and Liao Ran, it meant they both could be blind.

As Su Chenyan looked angry, perhaps after a while of looking at Liao Ran, he might cool down and even drink the poisoned wine for all they knew.

Under the watchful eyes of the two ghosts, Su Chenyan, finally speaking with a cool demeanor, said.

"You added something to the wine, what was it?"

Rose burst out upon hearing this, "Well, what do you know, Su Chenyan is so direct, he’s actually asking outright?"

Phoenix Fairy had not expected Su Chenyan to be so forthright either and widened their eyes in anticipation of Liao Ran’s reply.

Liao Ran looked as surprised as Phoenix Fairy, a picture of shock.

The difference was, Liao Ran was wondering why Su Chenyan would know something had been put in the wine. After her initial surprise, her eyes filled with nervousness, and she answered in a fluster: "No, I didn’t put anything in it, Chenyan why would you say that?"

Su Chenyan frowned.

He trusted his Little Auntie, and by extension, the person his Little Auntie had sent.

There was no reason for Rose to lie to him.

"Are you sure you didn’t add anything?" Su Chenyan lowered his voice and asked again, "Teacher Liao, I, Su Chenyan, am always straightforward, and I don’t deal in roundabouts. I asked you out because I realized I have feelings for you, but I don’t appreciate being played."

Of the seven brothers in the Su Family, he was the most straightforward. It was rumored that he was all brawn and no brains, but that didn’t mean he would passively accept others’ mocking and scheming!

Liao Ran swallowed hard, her eyes fixated on Su Chenyan’s hands.

His clenched hands on the edge of the table were bulging with veins.

Hands like those, one hit from him, and how could she endure it?

But she really couldn’t admit to drugging, admitting it would be her downfall.

Liao Ran lowered her head, "No, I didn’t drug the wine."

Upon hearing "drug the wine," Su Chenyan grew even more agitated. The wine could have had any number of things added to it, yet Liao Ran took it upon herself to say there was medicine involved.

"I’m really disappointed."

With that, Su Chenyan stood up straight, his eyes red.

He didn’t want to see Liao Ran looking like this, feeling uneasy. Yet this unease was overshadowed by the heartbreak of being played by Liao Ran.

All of the Su Family’s seven sons had seen their fair share of unscrupulous women trying to get close, employing a myriad of deceitful tactics. Drugging food at parties wasn’t anything new either.

Youngest brother Su Chenfei had been a victim once, simply because he was pulled away to chat and hadn’t kept an eye on the wine glass left on the table. When he drank from it again, his body grew unbearably hot.

The woman who drugged him tried to drag Su Chenfei to a hotel room, and if it weren’t for the Bodyguard being present at the party, Su Chenfei might have been carried away to spend a night with her, which would have forced him to marry her.

Now, here he was, Su Chenyan, who had finally allowed himself to feel something, only to find out the girl had drugged him as well.

For some reason, Su Chenyan felt extreme heartache.

His eyes brimmed with tears, his handsome face revealing his vulnerability. He turned and left abruptly.

Before leaving Lanyu Restaurant, he made sure to settle the bill at the front desk.

After Su Chenyan left, with no face to call Su Chenyan back, Liao Ran remained in a state halfway between crying and not crying. She simply drank the rest of the red wine by herself. After finishing, she stood up to go to the front desk to pay.

The receptionist said, "A gentleman already took care of the bill for this table a moment ago."

Upon hearing that Su Chenyan had paid, a wave of guilt overcame Liao Ran.

What had she done?

How could she hurt her fated soulmate? Even after being harmed, he hadn’t forgotten to pay like a gentleman before leaving. A man like that was irreplaceable once lost.

Liao Ran pursed her lips, trying hard to prevent herself from breaking down in tears in public, and left with her handbag.

She hadn’t walked far when her mobile phone rang.

Liao Ran took out her phone and saw her friend’s name; she tapped to answer.
