Chapter 304: Chapter 303: You Can’t Run Away
Mianmian saw that after the Dark Qi from Yong Hui transferred onto Ayu, Ayu’s face actually returned to the visage of the Buddha, resplendent with golden light.
Yong Hui was still smiling, "The old monk and Ayu are one and the same, and together we shall attain Buddhahood."
Yong Hui wasn’t wrong in saying that; the line was a destiny line, and the destinies as well as the souls of the two were entangled, inseparable.
Mianmian frowned, deeply troubled, "If that’s the case, surely you could have stopped Ayu from regaining his memories, so why did you let Ayu retrieve them?"
Yong Hui’s smile deepened, "Of course, it’s because of you."
Mianmian didn’t understand and was frowning with pursed lips.
Observing Little Bun’s puzzled appearance, Yong Hui twirled the pearl in his hand, his tone filled with profound meaning, "Ayu is linked to my fate—his death is my death, his life my life. It was my doing that led him to commit these evil deeds. Would you kill both him and me?"
At that, Mianmian suddenly understood.
Yong Hui meant to say that Ayu was inherently kind, and that it was him extracting Ayu’s memories, resulting in Ayu’s death and the commission of wicked actions, turning him into a villain. Ayu’s life was bound to his; to kill Yong Hui was also to kill the pitiable Ayu.
Yet if Yong Hui wasn’t dispatched, the Temple would still exist, and those who came to offer incense would continue to find their wishes unfulfilled, paying a price for their desires.
Ayu’s soul was controlled by Yong Hui. Having failed to sever the entwined destiny line between them just now, Yong Hui would never give her such an opportunity again.
This was really too much for Yong Hui to do!
Mianmian clenched her small fists in anger.
"It seems you’ve understood," Yong Hui said with a smile, "You won’t attack me, but I will attack you."
With that, Yong Hui raised his hand.
The previously tranquil Ayu floating beside him suddenly transformed, morphing into the likeness of the Thousand-Hand Guanyin.
Yong Hui chanted a Buddha’s name, his aged voice warm and merciful, "This is Ayu’s spiritual world, where we all exist as Divine Consciousness. As long as I devour you, reality can no longer touch me."
"Together with Ayu, I will create a world where everyone is happy, where darkness no longer breeds in the shadows. Whether it’s righteousness or wickedness, we can judge."
"Who told you that eating Mianmian would make you powerful?" Mianmian was extremely vexed; although she’d been struck bald by Grandpa Heaven’s thunder, she wasn’t Tang Sanzang. Why did everyone keep saying that eating her would make them powerful?
This was a rumor!
Infuriated, Mianmian dodged Ayu’s reaching hands and began to dart around this new Space.
The consciousness House now was no longer Ayu’s but a Lotus Pond beautifully crafted by Yong Hui.
The Lotus Pond was boundless, filled with unopened lotus buds.
As Mianmian dodged the long arms of the Thousand-Hand Guanyin, she was hopping from lily pad to lily pad.
Little Bun was extremely agile; despite the Thousand-Hand Guanyin’s long and numerous arms, they couldn’t touch her body. Instead, she led them on a twisting and turning chase, twisting them into dead knots.
Seeing that the Thousand-Hand Guanyin Ayu couldn’t touch Mianmian at all, Yong Hui narrowed his eyes slightly and made Ayu change his shape.
Now, Ayu was wielding a Sword and attacking Mianmian.
Mianmian recognized Ayu’s current form; he was the Bodhisattva Mahamayuri, also known as the Immovable King of Hell. The Sword in his hand could cut through all worries at the root, and his rope could bind mental demons.
Thus, in attacking, Ayu was simultaneously swinging the Sword and throwing out a rope in an attempt to ensnare her.
Mianmian thought to run farther away, to separate Ayu from Yong Hui, not to stick so close, so she could sever the black destiny line connecting them with a single Sword strike and break their shared fate of life and death.
But Yong Hui did not give her the chance and moved along with Ayu.
Now, Mianmian could only dodge awkwardly again.
She really didn’t want to harm Ayu.
Now Ayu had nothing but his soul left; if she were to slash at him with a Sword, Ayu would vanish.
Ayu was a kind little sparrow, staying by Yong Hui’s side merely to repay his kindness in the right way, not wanting to do these bad things.
Yong Hui was the worst, actually manipulating her this way. He was indeed very bad!
This couldn’t continue; how in the world could she sever the destiny line between the two?
As Little Bun furrowed her brows and fled, Yong Hui even used lotus leaves to block her path, all of which she cut open and dodged with her Sword.
"You can’t escape," Yong Hui suddenly spoke, "Contributing to the Western Paradise will grant you supreme merit. If you assist, your parents will surely awaken."
This made Mianmian very angry!
"Pah, pah, pah, I don’t need merit obtained by your methods. Besides, you can’t get merit that way! Mianmian wants to reunite with her dad and mom, I won’t be fooled."
"If it’s impossible to attain merit, then what is this golden light on our bodies?" Yong Hui persuaded, "Haven’t you also failed to see any wrongdoing in this old monk?"
Indeed, Mianmian had failed to detect anything wrong with Yong Hui.
She didn’t understand either; clearly Yong Hui was committing bad deeds, deceiving those devotees, so why could their faith still be transformed into merit and settle on Yong Hui?
Noticing that Mianmian was distracted, Yong Hui seized the opportunity and threw out the rope transformed from golden light, binding Mianmian.
Caught off guard and bound, Mianmian let out a yelp, urgently struggling.
Her Sword, too, was taken by Ayu.
"Give up. In forsaking flesh and soul to become a Buddha, I have long been cultivating Divine Consciousness. My Divine Consciousness has grown so strong that even Fen Tian cannot contend with me. And you think you can escape my spirit chains?"
The golden rope indeed reverted to its original form, becoming chains.
Yong Hui pulled Mianmian to his side.
Having caught Mianmian, his objective achieved, the compassionate smile vanished from his face, transforming from a sagely monk into the evil villain from a TV drama in an instant.
Mianmian was startled by Yong Hui’s sudden change, thinking to herself that if Yong Hui were to play a villain, he would definitely be praised to the skies by a Director.
As she thought this, her arm was lifted by Yong Hui.
Yong Hui opened his mouth to bite her.
In the devouring between Divine Consciousnesses, it simply entailed seizing the other party and, like a wild beast, ripping and tearing at them until devoured completely, marking the end.
Mianmian, afraid of pain, furrowed her brows, her eyes glancing toward the black chain between Ayu and Yong Hui.
Indeed, she had allowed herself to be captured intentionally! She just wanted to be close to Yong Hui, to sever the destiny line when Yong Hui let down his guard, and to separate Ayu from Yong Hui.
Before that, she needed to let Yong Hui take a bite, to relax his vigilance.
Mianmian braced herself, and just as she was enlisting Flying Sword, a stern shout came from behind, "Let her go!"
Yong Hui’s head was pierced by a beam of golden light!
A section of a Divine Consciousness being pierced would not lead to death, only injury. Hence after recoiling from the pain, Yong Hui immediately absorbed Ayu into his body, holding Mianmian warily as he turned his head.
The person standing on the other side of the Lotus Pond was none other than Yang Xian!
