Chapter 178: Chapter 177: Cast a Long Line to Catch a Big Fish
Lu You entered the office once again.
He wore a confident smile on his face and walked to the desk, "After all, I’m here to discuss business. Aren’t you going to offer me a seat, President Su?"
Su Chenjin raised an eyebrow, "For such a small deal, you can stand and talk to me."
All he wanted was to buy an amusement park owned by the Lu Family for the sake of the Little Auntie at home, to have a place for her to play.
And for such a trivial matter, Lu You insisted on arranging a meeting and discussing it face to face.
It was unclear what Lu You relied on to propel the Lu Family to such heights. After all, making such a fuss over a small issue could only mean one thing: Lu You was up to some trickery.
"President Su is really too cold-hearted," Lu You thought, feeling his face had been thoroughly stepped on. The Su Family was indeed slapping his face, one hit after another.
He turned his head in the office, looking for his two nephews, only to see them on the office balcony, thoroughly enjoying themselves playing with three animals.
Instantly, Lu You cursed inwardly: Just like his sister, always bending the elbow outwards!
While despising his nephews, Lu You walked toward the desk, placing his hands on the black desk to speak to Su Chenjin, "You want to buy land and property from my Lu Family. How is that a small matter? That amusement park is in a prime city center location, which I managed to acquire only after great effort. Now, the park along with the external storefronts can net me a million a month. Selling such a prized asset to you deserves a satisfactory price, doesn’t it?"
As Lu You began to speak, an unusually fragrant scent drifted towards Su Chenjin.
Su Chenjin, sensing the peculiar aroma, immediately stretched out his hand, intending to block Little Auntie’s nose.
Seeing this, Lu You lowered his head to hide the triumphant smirk on his lips.
If one plan failed, he would have another. This fragrance was just the thing to daze and confuse Su Chenjin.
Just as he was sure that Su Chenjin would fall for it, he looked up to see the little girl beside Su Chenjin take out a bamboo tube. As she opened the cloth cover on the tube, a fragrance wafted out.
The man following Lu You in silence smelled the scent and his expression drastically changed.
What was that smell? He felt terrible!
His previous tactic of aversion didn’t work, but he still wanted to earn Lu You’s money, along with points for the sect, so he had brought out his trump card—mind control insect eggs.
These eggs were invisible to the naked eye of ordinary people, being tiny, dust-like granules that would naturally be carried by the breeze and settle on anyone who had not taken an antidote.
The insects themselves weren’t very toxic; their main effect was to bewilder people. Once inhaled into the body with the breeze, they would rapidly grow and obey the person holding the mother bug.
Now that the eggs had been dispatched, the fact that he could already hardly bear the fragrance meant the mother bug definitely couldn’t either!
After all, the people of his bloodline, who spent their lives around insects, had developed habits similar to those of the bugs themselves.
Mianmian, seeing the man beside Lu You changing his expression, swung her little feet even more cheerfully.
She had seen the black granules drifting off Lu You’s body, which resembled the bad insect eggs her mother used to play with, so she had brought out the insect-repellent incense.
No matter what kind of bad bugs, they would die upon smelling this fragrance, thus they wouldn’t harm anyone!
"Is there something on them?" asked Su Chenjin, pressing a button for the door on his desk.
Mianmian nodded, "Yes, there is."
As soon as Mianmian finished speaking, the man beside Lu You saw scorpions, centipedes, and spiders, among other insects, falling out of his trouser legs.
The bugs were dead, rigid bodies lying on the floor.
And their owner, too, soon followed suit—collapsing and convulsing on the ground. Dressed in a suit, he strangely writhed like an insect as he convulsed, which looked extremely eerie.
Lu You was startled and took a sudden step back.
"What’s wrong with this person? Why is he acting like this?" While panicking, he quietly tossed the insect from his pocket onto the floor, pretending to be unaware of the situation.
Su Chenjin was rather speechless.
If Lu You had to act in the Entertainment Circle, anything he produced would surely be criticized.
His acting was just too fake!
Lu You comically feigned ignorance while watching Su Chenjin’s expression.
Fearing that his slight gesture had been noticed, he exclaimed, "President Su, your security needs an upgrade. How can such a strange person be lying on the floor without anyone coming to drag him away?"
Su Chenjin didn’t respond to Lu You, but instead looked toward the door.
The security guards had already come in.
The man on the floor, along with all the snakes and insects, was cleared away, and a security guard said to Lu You, "Mr. Lu, these insects are highly poisonous creatures from tropical rainforests. We need to search you as well, to prevent any danger to you."
Although Lu You did not want to be searched, the situation forced him to dissociate himself from this incident.
So he obediently raised his hands, still pretending as he spoke, "Search me, please. I had no idea that this newly hired bodyguard had these things on him. Had I known, I wouldn’t have let him in."
The bodyguard ignored Lu You, silently searching him. No other poisonous insects were found, but an open recording pen was discovered in his pocket.
"Mr. Lu, it’s not quite appropriate to bring a recording pen to a business negotiation," Jin Tai smirked with a cold smile, "It seems you’re not quite satisfied with our purchase offer. Fortunately, our President Su has a second acquisition plan. Mr. Lu, please leave."
This was naturally something Jin Tai, as an assistant, said with Su Chenjin’s tacit approval.
As businessmen, they always weighed pros and cons. They had never intended to put all their eggs in one basket. The Amusement Park under Lu You’s company was indeed good, located on the north side of North City. That place had become a new economic development zone last year, with heavy traffic, and was the first choice in their plan.
But since Lu You insisted on playing these tricks, they had no choice but to give up on cooperating with Lu You and opt for the old-fashioned amusement park in the old city area with less foot traffic.
The only drawback was that when it was built, the developers tied it to a zoo for some unknown reason.
Now both the zoo and the Amusement Park were there, but their revenues were dwindling and they were on the verge of bankruptcy.
"Don’t be like that, President Su. You can still call me brother," Lu You hurriedly tried to appease with a smile, "The recording pen was put in my clothes by my wife, who’s scared that I’ll fool around. As for the insects on that person, I really had no idea!"
Su Chenjin, who had been discussing the ointment in the bamboo tube with Mianmian, didn’t even look up, responding with a voice as cold as December snow, "Jin Tai, show the guest out."
Lu You’s face changed multiple times; his fists clenched, he felt an urge to erupt. But remembering the attitude of his two nephews earlier, he calmed down and quietly let the bodyguards escort him out.
Mianmian watched Lu You leave and asked her older grand-nephew with her little head tilted, "Why did big nephew let him go? He’s clearly related to all this."
Those pesky things had flown over from Lu You, and Mianmian had seen it clearly!
Upon hearing the Little Auntie’s soft, sweet query, Su Chenjin gently replied, "Didn’t Little Auntie go fishing with Old Seventh earlier?"
Mianmian nodded her little head, "Yes, we fished when we were filming that show."
Su Chenjin smiled, "So how can you catch a big fish?"
Upon hearing this, Mianmian gasped as though she had an epiphany and made a fist, "Right! You need to cast a long line to catch a big fish!"
She glanced at the bad guy who had fainted on the floor, guessing that he was probably just a small fish to practice on before going for the big catch. But where should this small fish be kept?
